    The island is sparsely inhabited mostly by people who still make a living off fishing. It is indeed open to tourists.

    1) just like in many other places with cats, Aoshima residents brought cats to control the local rodent population and, needless to say, the furry little hunters proliferated on the island. 😺 2) the island is located in Ozu, Ehime prefecture in Japan. 3) you most definitely can come! The island is open to the public, and I have been here. 10/10 recommend. Hope this helps 🥰

    We learned Japanese in my primary school in Australia. When we were learning the hiragana each one had a way to remember it, for example, fu for fuji. The hiragana on the flash card then was drawn to resemble mt Fuji, so I always remember this when I read/hear Mt Fuji mentioned. :)
