Sam Smith lives in this house. It's a former Royal palace, dating back to Henry VIII, a listed building worth about £16M. It's a 4-floor palace, with a private pub, a private nightclub and a billiard room. The "garden" is effectively a park, with a second 5-bedroom, 350 years hold house in it for friends and guests. His neighbours are Jude Law and Liam Ghallagher. house-67e5...22e89b.jpg

Whatever they claim they did in 2017, the company in FY2022 reported £844M in losses, had to negotiate a £2,8B loan, was put in administration in October 2023 when the investing bank found a "financial situation and operation [...] much opaquer and more complex than originally determined", went through multiple changes of ownership and was dissolved in 2025. Robert Bull had his house repossessed, for which he blamed "the Irish cartel".

Poll Question
Do you find public shaming of out-of-touch wealthy comments helpful?
Yes, it raises awareness
Sometimes, it can be effective
Rarely, it's just for entertainment
No, it's unnecessary
No, I think it's very reasonable that you get mad at this list
Load More Replies...I live in Edinburgh. Lots of rich people here. You are at the pub and it turns out the guy next to you made a couple of million £ (and did NOT just inherit them). Or has a Nobel Prize, for that matter. And then both of you shrug, take a sip from your pints, and continue to complain about the weather. Any of these people in this thread? They'd be laughed out of any proper pub. I don't doubt they exist, but they have to hide in their own clubs where they can brag to each other and are sheltered from us. :)
For anyone who needs a brain cleanse after reading that, I have a small story that happened yesterday. Husband is a teacher at a high school in the U.S. The student body is mostly poor and working class. Yesterday, their basketball team whooped the team of a very wealthy, prestigious private school. That's not even the good part. The students from Husband's school had a very specific and creative cheer everytime one of the rich kids had a free throw: "Daddy's money, Daddy's money!" I just wish I was there to cheer along with them!

I will never not be disgusted by this fact!
We made an attempt to shift to government-subsidized healthcare with Obama, but the rich and the really stupid poor made a big stink and ended up ruining both private and federal health insurance at the same time. If they quit bailing out airports or banks and used the money on healthcare, and reverted insurance laws back to when they could only operate in the state where they registered the business, we could clean up some of this mess.
Most of this is not "Feds". It's "Republicans".

So how come the Dems did not fix it?
They'd need a solid majority in both houses and/or enough Republicans voting like actual humans for that. Neither has been the case for quite a while. Of course a worthy Supreme Court still could have helped with actual guidence in many issues but that train is long gone, too. Ruling with the executive against the other powers is hard work, too, and something nobody should want either.
But Trump told me that every judge in America is a secret gay traitor, and we should all just ignore them. Who am I to believe?
One could be forgiven for thinking this is an exaggeration, but no. It's reality here in the US. Infuriating beyond words.
Yo... is the USA great yet? 😑
You just missed it, that was yesterday.
D**n! You mean I slept through the greatness?
They forget that all that money they're approving is what WE made with OUR labor.
Crazy how much extra money in taxes I'll be spending throughout my lifetime for us to hand away Ukraine to Putin on a shiny silver platter. If they were going to yell about Zelensky's suit in the White House they should've done it back in '22.
The train is out of control and heading down a 45 degree slope aimed straight at Murica:(
I think you meant plane. Murica!
And the government remains perplexed on why so many citizens lie on their tax forms, because once it's in the government's hands, it's going to the 1%. So keep on cheating to supplement your joke insurance coverage.
So many citizens = even the President
This is inhumane .
How about these numbers. Total profits that Telsa has made for all of its existence 90.5 billion. Musk's demanded pay package 44.9 billion. Musk owns 12.8% of Tesla.
Tesla paid $48 million in federal taxes in 2023 - about a 1.5% income tax rate. In 2024, they had a 0% income tax rate. They paid nothing.
We pay Elon Musk 8 million dollars a day.
