40 Times People Had To Deal With Insane Parents Who Felt More Entitled To Things Than Anyone Else
It’s well known that beggars can’t be choosers. But as you probably already know, the opposite happens too.
In the minds of choosing beggars, they feel more entitled to things than the rest of us. While we stand in lines, they go straight, while we pay for a purchase or service, they think they can get it for free. Don’t ask how come it’s fair, because it’s not!
And there’s a whole corner of Reddit dedicated to sharing such infuriating examples, known as the Choosingbeggars subreddit. This time, we take a look into the cases when parents get desperate for things and try to use their kids to gain things free of charge or with a hefty discount. Scroll down through the posts and let us know your thoughts in the comment section!

So You Hate Kids
No, You Can’t Have My Dog
Whether we like it or not, our parents plant mental and emotional seeds in us. These seeds grow as we do. In some families, they are seeds of love, respect and independence. In other families, it’s fear, guilt, obligation and toxic mentality.
So while it may be hard to wrap your head around why exactly some parents use their kids to get special treatment, this often happens with controlling parents. Controlling parents tend to be anxious, paranoid and possessive. They like taking things into their hands and knowing what’s best for their kids. Sometimes that means they don’t allow their kids to nurture their personalities and forbid them from taking interest in things, like playing guitar or joining a soccer team at school.

What A Weird Person

I don't understand these people. If a person has NOT posted the thing up for sale why the f**k would you force them to give it to you, and get angry when they *obviously* say no? I mean, WHAT THE F**K?
Susan Petang from The Quiet Zone Coaching, a certified life coach, told Bored Panda that hobbies give us a release from the responsibilities we all have. “They allow us to blow off steam, grow our curiosity and intellect, and can even lead to career paths that will be joyful instead of monotonous.” Her advice to parents is to encourage their children's hobbies because the lesson that hobbies teach us is one of self-care.

Susan also explained that as our children grow, they slowly start to separate from us. For controlling parents, this may be a particularly challenging time. “From the 'Terrible Twos' to the pains of adolescence, the purpose of the journey is to teach our kids how to be independent, happy, and healthy adults who give something to the world around them.”
However, the life coach warns that if you're making all the decisions for your children, they're not learning how to make decisions for themselves. “You're not going to be around forever to advise and guide them; they have to learn to do it alone.”

Kristen Brown, a spiritual and empowerment author, life coach and mentor, argues that “it is imperative to set appropriate boundaries with those who are draining our energy, disrespecting our lines, minimizing our value or attempting to control all aspects of our lives - even when it's our parents.” No wonder that kids, after growing up with toxic families, choose to emotionally detach from them as they get older.

Moreover, pathologies of families are carried through the generations until someone (and it's probably you) decides, "It ends here!!", Kristen argues. “Somewhere in the midst of your dysfunctional family, you knew in your soul this is not right and it desperately needs to change.” This is what she calls a pioneer spirit which drives us to speak up. “You may be the first and only one who ever speaks up. However, your boundary setting could be the very thing to open their eyes to this destructive pattern and heal it once and for all.”

Hi, I really want a series 3 Land Rover station wagon, (1976 if possible), must be roadworthy, any colour will do. I can't afford to pay for it but I do have two kids.

Exactly. I managed to make it through 20 but got nauseous.

Maybe. A scarier thought is that these people don't even vote, because that would take time, and patience, to do it. So... Who is voting? D: edit: no, I'm not implying voter fraud. Just to be clear.
Load More Replies...Our first year in our apartment we didn't know that there'd be no trick or treaters. Bought tons of candy. We were sad. The next morning we put out a little table with a bowl of candy and a sign inviting our neighbors to have some. My husband worked at 4am and up at 2:30am, we went to bed at 8pm. About 11pm that night we get woken up by someone pounding on the door. I open the door and it's our upstairs neighbor. Apparently we'd run out of candy and she needed us to fill the bowl straight away. I could've killed her. I said no, we were sleeping and shut the door in her face, went back to bed. When my husband opens the door to head out for work he calls me to come see. She took the table and bowl and left us a note. Since we didn't have candy she took what she was "owed". Alrighty then.
How sad. ..I guess for some. Halloween brings out the demons.

can't get over how so many parents will try to use their kids as excuse to demand things. well, i guess i just can't understand the audacity of some people in general.
Parents, don't promise your kids things that you don't have, can't afford, and aren't guaranteed to get.

While being a single parent can be hard it aint an excuse for being like this!!
I'm a single parent. Sold tickets, cause I couldn't go there with the kids. Can I get them for free? I'm taking poor kids out whose parents can't pay it. You should give it for free. Why don't you pay it yourself then? So annoying. Or 'you're not a good christian if you don't give money to those poor parents. Their kids want a guitar.' Not my problem. They can also eat bread with cheese for a month to save some for a toy. So annoying when they always think everyone has money enough, just like them. Pay it yourself then.

Teach your kids it's not compulsory to have what they want. Gift can be a five $ thing too. In my family we give odd presents to each other so we all remember who got what.
Most of these people aren't even merely entitled, but also gaslighters of the lowest kind. Trying to screw with people's emotions by using your own kids as a weapon - for shame!
This here is the worst of humanity propagating itself. I can only hope these are not the norm now or ever.
A lot of these come down to "my kid wants stuff and you need to provide it". Anyone remember when childhood meant you had to wait for the things you want? I do.. The people expecting me to give their kid the first foul ball I caught after going to MLB games for more than 4 decades also subscribed to this idea.
Funny thing is, when you don't do that, they just offer you stuff. Aww you're a single mom. Here's a ps2. Our son just got a ps3. Here's a bag of clothes my son doesn't fit anymore. Never asked anyone.
Load More Replies...This sounds bad but I don't have sympathy for the single mom card. My mother was a single mom for literally 12 years with almost no real support. She never pulled that card. She showed up for her kids and worked her a** off for her kids.
I'm thinking there are folks out there that give in to these nasty, pushy people. And it pains me.
This is exactly why I rarely help anyone. There are more of these people in the world than anyone can imagine. Ungrateful, entitled people who think others owe them. I was told by someone that because I have a job and can make more money, that I should give them my entire paycheck so they could have some money. I told them to visit the company's website, as we were hiring for many positions. They said they didn't want a job, they just wanted money and that I needed to give them my paycheck. When I told them no, they called me a selfish a$$ hole. I promptly threw them out of my house.
I gave away an electric lawnmower for free a couple of weeks ago. Someone actually texted me and said, "I'll take the free lawnmower, but you'll have to deliver it because I don't have a car." its just jerks in general and unless I am mistaken other countries might have a few jerks too?
