I am positively surprised that until today no one has ever challenged my surname. The only reactions I get are grinning border control people when travelling and the one or other discussion with German authorities when renieuwing documents, because they insist on using "ß" instead of the "ss".

I've only ever met one other, and seen the name used a handful of times in books or tv, but I certainly would never feel like it's mine & mine alone. My surname is not the most common or super uncommon, , but it's easily recognizable so I rarely use it.

She could see that there are no other people with that name IN the US, therefor there is no one with this name on the entire planet, (because we know there is nothing outside the US), so the second woman obviously was using a name that isn‘t hers, which seams to be illegal. /s

I was an early enough adopter of Instagram that my username is my nickname only with no numbers or weird characters and it's also a popular hashtag. Have had many people attempt to take over my account over the years which is wild. The funniest part (aside from the fact that it's literally just my- middle aged, average joe-type lady- name) is that I'm mostly inactive on insta and don't even use it unless I want to DM someone and don't have another way to reach them. Have gotten outraged dms from people who are like, "I want your name, you're not even using it!".

I was on a trip to the United Kingdom. I am a Canadian and was more than glad to see the recognition for our contribution in the world wars and especially since 10% of our population served in the second. I was absolutely stunned by what I saw at the Canadian war memorial. I didn’t say a word but should I have? Sheriff says that in our county you’re allowed to park on the outer 8 feet of someone else’s lawn for a day or two without their permission because it’s considered the shoulder.
