Germany had slaves from the concentration camps building all those concrete bunkers during WWII. If they tour Europe, they better not tour the concentration camps or they might learn about history.

My family wasn't in the US until the late 1800's and never owned any slaves. If I went on a Plantation tour and they DIDN'T address the atrocities of slavery, I'd be really upset. I suspect if she went to Washington, DC on vacation and decided to stop at the Holocaust Museum she'd be upset if they talked about concentration camps, too.

I reckon almost everyone with European, African, or mainland Asian ancestry has slave-owning ancestors (I am shamefully ignorant of Indigenous American cultures). There aren't that many cultures which haven't had slavery. Not heard of it in Indigenous Australian culture, mind you.

I've got to admit that I still find the excuse of "Oh well it's a meme so it's okay" doesn't sit well with me. It must be truly horrible to be called Karen - no matter what you do or who you are there must be that constant feeling of being judged for no reason. I just don't get how people who appear to otherwise understand how damaging microagressions are to people just swing away at the name Karen without a second thought. It's lazy, it's another way of pitting women against women, and the sooner it dies out the better.
