Why post such a dull story which is more than a year old? Is there not more contemporary, interesting content you can rip off Reddit?

The follow up contains more information and insights - that the boss restricted # of Dr appts allowed a year and has them sign a contract which illegally required payback of licensing fees if they quit. The poster “fought back” by quitting with 3 days notice after getting an amazing new job. Good for them!

If the company is paying for the licensing they are well within their rights to charge employees for leaving early/failing to complete the terms of their work contract. Just like many business require you to pay them back if they pay for specialized training and you quit after receiving the training or before your contract is up.

So someone got in a dispute with their employer and the employer acted like a civilized person and admitted their mistake. Nothing special. This happens on a daily basis and some employers are jerks and others are not. If this story proves one thing, it is that it's wise to make yourself acquainted with your legal rights to defend your interests so you won't be an easy target for dishonest people trying to take you for a ride.
