With over 7 billion people living on the planet Earth, there’s bound to be a doppelgänger for most of us somewhere out there. Unfortunately, not all of us look like A-list celebrities, like this young woman from the UK whose uncanny resemblance to Emma Watson is making her go viral.

When Ella first shared a photo of her in comparison to Emma Watson’s on Reddit, people were shocked to find that it’s almost impossible to tell them apart. “I showed my girlfriend who loves Harry Potter and she got it wrong,” someone commented. “I see no difference,” another user pointed out. More than 65k people on Reddit made the post go viral. Therefore, we feel obliged to share it with you!

“My name is Ella Norton, and I am a 17-year-old from England. I am currently doing my A Levels, and have enjoyed starting up an Instagram and posting on Reddit as a celebrity lookalike,” Ella introduced herself to Bored Panda. “I’ve been told that I resembled Emma ever since I was young! I never thought I resembled her enough to ever make something of it, but starting a Instagram page and sharing some photos on Reddit has proved me wrong!” the student shared with us.

We asked Ella whether she gets stopped in the street by Emma Watson’s fans: “All the time! Usually whenever I visit large towns or cities, such as London or Oxford. I always feel so bad to let people down who genuinely think I am Emma, as I don’t want to disappoint people. It’s very surreal, though, experiencing even a tiny bit of what it’s like for a celebrity on a daily basis,” she shared with Bored Panda.

“I’ve only recently started cosplaying this year,” Elle told Bored Panda. “So far I’ve only really cosplayed as Hermione, but I’m looking to also cosplay Belle from Beauty and The Beast, and Meg March from Little Women. I’ve never done any professional cosplay before, but I’m looking forward to learning more about cosplay and going to conventions when I can.”

Funnily enough, looks are not the only thing that Ella and Emma have in common. Both young women want to use their platform and audience to speak out on the issues that matter to them the most. “I am really enjoying getting started in the cosplay community, and also sharing the books I’m reading and my studying, which I am very passionate about. It’s also great to have a platform on which I have a voice to speak on important issues,” Ella shared with Bored Panda a couple of months ago.

She says “it’s flattering” that people confuse her with the British celebrity

We asked Ella to share whether she had any memorable experiences with people mistaking her for the British actress. The now-viral student shared with us: “When I visited Oxford once, there were lots of children dressed up in Harry Potter uniform, and I was asked to take pictures with them all and sign autographs, some asking for Hermione’s autograph! It was very sweet.”

Funnily enough, looks are not the only thing that Ella and Emma have in common. Both young women want to use their platform and audience to speak out on the issues that matter to them the most.

“I’m an avid bookworm, and am very passionate about studying! I love being able to share the books I’m reading and my daily studying with my following online. I also really enjoy acting, singing, and ballet,” Ella shared with Bored Panda. “It’s been the dream to study at Oxford University reading English ever since I was little. After, I am hoping to go into work for human rights. I consider myself to be an advocate for human rights as well as environmental issues, and I would love to be able to make a difference in the world. That’s another reason why I like having a platform on social media; it’s great to have a voice with which I can speak on important issues.”

Has Ella ever thought about doing photo double work? “I have,” the student tells us. “Unfortunately, due to insurance coverage, I will not be able to do any until I am 18, but I’m hoping that I’ll be able to do some part-time double work when I come of age.”
