My name is Angela Teng, and I am an accessory designer who works in midtown, New York.  I love illustrating comics about things around me that actually happened. After my post ‘22 odd questions I get asked at job interviews’, I started drafting my next post, which is this one.

People take elevators every day and sometimes have conversations in them. Some of them are sad, some are heated and some are funny. I kept the ones I found the most amusing on my iPhone and started drawing them out whenever I got the chance. It’s very curious how in a small space, in such a short amount of time, there’s so much information exchanged and emotions expressed. I only drew what really happened, nothing is made up. I hope you enjoy my post. Thank you.

Right? Most three year olds are very active. My niece and nephew never ever stop moving unless they accidentally fall asleep!

I feel bad for that one kid. Also, do people not notice other people in elevators or something? I feel like I would be more self-conscious than that... at least, I dearly hope I'd be.

I think social media has numbed many people to the concept of discretion and privacy. Folks are so used to seeing the most intimate details of life splattered all over FB that they just don't filter what they share with strangers IRL anymore either. I'm still shocked sometimes at what people will share about their kids, marriage, affairs, finances, career and even criminal activity. But at 49, a still remember a time when one didn't "air their dirty laundry" in public. I don't think we should go back to a time when people felt shame or fear for seeking help with mental health issues, abuse or anything like that, but I really don't need to know what anyone did in bed last night with their partner or their mistress or a stranger.

Can I just point out that in the fifth one, the person who said 'air' might have some actual problems? Like anorexia or something. Maybe I'm just misreading the situation, but I have had a close friend who bulimic anorexia, so I just worry when someone says things like that...

My first thought was that maybe that person can't afford lunch... I was there many years ago and would always make jokes about why I didn't eat.

Sorry but I can't seem to focus on anything but the very bad things guys. Let's keep him employed.

I remember when i was at my volleyball game. We were waiting to play then i heard this girl talking to her friend and she literally said “he was just annoying me so much... so I said yes to his marriage request” is this really what adults do .-. I’m only 14 and I’m so confused .-.

Once, at work, I got in a elevator as a guy walked out. The pig had evidently just farted before getting out since the smell was awful. In a hurry I took it anyway without thinking that anyone getting in would obviously think I did it and this is just what happened... I went all the way up having everyone looking at me as if I was the most disgusting thing on earth! I am now very careful and smell before I get in alone...

The one elevator has to be in some kind of underground bunker because it’s going down yet the number is getting higher

I like to stand behind men who are on the phone and say, "Put your clothes on, your hour is up!" As I walk away I hear them saying, "No . . . I don't know who said that . . . I'm at work . . ."
