You've probably noticed that Easter falls on a different day, and in some cases, even month each year, but have you ever wondered how the day is actually determined? Well, wonder no more, as there is a perfectly simple and easily understandable explanation! Not really, but this is how it goes - Easter falls on the first Sunday following the first ecclesiastical full moon that occurs on or after the day of the vernal equinox. See, clear as day! And although this formula called computus describes exactly how the date is chosen, it does not make it any simpler to understand. So, we should probably just keep on checking our calendars each year for the date of egg hunting, chocolate eating, and bunny petting. And, after all the aforementioned merriments have drained you to the state of a potato, why not relax on a couch and check out some of these Easter movies that we've rounded up here?
So yeah, this is our list of Easter-themed movies - some of these are for kids, others will only be suitable for those who aren't known to be squeamish. Most of the family-friendly movies, like Peter Rabbit, Hop, or The Dog Who Saved Easter shy away from the religious aspects of this celebration and stay within the boundaries of bunnies, chicks, and all that's lighthearted. However, those meant for adult audiences, especially The Passion Of The Christ, take the reins firmly and gallop away in a chariot of true-to-life violence. Of course, if you do not wish to cover the eyes of your younglings every five minutes of the film, you can always check the descriptions supplied and base your choice on them!
The Easter movies are, as per usual, just a hare's hair further down - once you are there, do not forget to vote for the ones you think are the best! Also, share this article with anyone in need of entertainment varying from fun animation to straight-up gore.

The Passion Of The Christ
2004 | 2 hours 7 minutes | Directed by Mel Gibson

The Passion Of The Christ is an epic biblical drama film that polarized the critics, and the viewers like probably no other movie before. The Passion Of The Christ follows the last twelve hours in the life of Jesus of Nazareth before his crucifixion. All of the dialogue in this movie is spoken in Hebrew, Latin, and Aramaic with, much to Gibson's objections, English subtitles. Loads of gory violence is used here, and all of those who have watched it either name The Passion Of The Christ as an almost religious experience or as a devastating experience due to the extreme violence. Either way, do not watch this movie with your kids or if you are more on the sensitive side yourself.
Torture porn that gets to pass as legitimate because of religion, despite the fact that the theme of this film is massively at odds with that of said religion. It was by far the most popular jesus film, which is telling about christians in a way. Like young boys claiming to watch a documentary about the human body cause its educational, but actually its cause there are naked women in it and theyre getting off on it but want deniability.

Risen
2016 | 1 hour 47 minutes | Directed by Kevin Reynolds

Risen is a biblical drama film detailing a Roman soldier's search for Yeshua's body after his resurrection. It is a truly interesting take on the story of the resurrection, mainly because it is told through a non-believer soldier's eyes, making it a lighter watch than your usual religion-based films. And although critics couldn't decide whether it is a good movie or a mediocre one, giving it only lukewarm reviews, we challenge you to decide this for yourself!
Life Of Brian
I would have called it a Christmas movie, because it always airs at a particular theatre near where I grew up every Dec 23 (with Holy Grail as a double feature), but I guess either way it's one end of his life :)
The Prince Of Egypt
Miss Potter
Winnie The Pooh: Springtime With Roo
There it is. All the way down at 50? It's basically A Christmas Carol but with Easter. I watched this movie to death as a child.
