Turns out, Twitter is good not only for sending insults but wishing good wishes as well. Shocking, I know. And just as New Year’s Eve was coming to an end, people started congratulating Earth on its 2019th birthday. We can only guess if they were trolling or being serious, but let’s just hope that they are either anti-vaxxers or flat-Earthers. Because if they aren’t, that means there’s another group of very special people that will drive us crazy while making us question the future of humanity at the same time

Mostly they are uneducated because conservative religious groups want to keep them ignorant and poor and easily controlled. Free education is the key to solving this issue, we need S.T.E.A.M. in the classroom, not religious texts.

I remember reading an article about how an anthropology prof tried to teach kids how to tell female skeletons from male skeletons. One girl raised a hand and said that male skeletons would have one less rib, referring to the creation of woman by God using one of Adams ribs. The prof bought time by having her go count the ribs. That's when he explained about inheritance and how, even if you lose a thumb, it doesn't mean all your children will be born without that same thumb because of how your DNA is coded. Managed to teach without treading on beliefs. These people, however, need an open handed slap in the mouth in the form of written historical records (Egypt and Sumer.)

Isn't it compulsory in schools. At least it is in the UK until ur 16. If ur too dumb to take 1 or more of the main branches Chem, Bio or Physics they'll put u in general science but u still gotta take the classes till 16.

Sorry, was it not Georges Lemaitre a Roman Catholic priest who discovered the big bang. But, nobody recognizes that. I don't think that it is right to force belief on others. But, I think that the correlation between religion and stupidity should be eradicated. Faith is not calculated but that does not make it stupid.

Add also the flat earthers or whatever they´re called and the anti vaccine folks. Don't think age is the issue. Lower than average IQ maybe. Experience teaches a lot so we can hope it is just lack of exposure to life and knowledge, but some people are never going to understand no matter how old they get.

I reckon a number of these are sarcastic tweets. We still use dates related to BC and AD. So perhaps some are religious. Some may be tweets from children. But reading the comments is pretty disappointing tbh. Intelligence is measured on a range of factors. I clicked on the article to read comments and I don't see a need to mock people or call them names, ever. I think there is enough negativity online already. I'm an Aussie and we have a saying here "Fair go for All". Not one of the tweets is harmful or mean. Regardless of our own beliefs, they are all excited about the Earth and the new year.

This is why the Millennial's should be reading books instead of playing on social media, and cell phones texting. What is happening to Education? The full implementation of computers is happening. No one calls anyone now, they text. No one writes a letter. All the basic things that people should be doing. Not letting computers do it for us, until our bodies and are dead along with our brains. Might as well sit living in a chair with a straw and diapers, as long as your fingers work on a keyboard. We are becoming lazy as a society. Playgrounds for kids are empty etc.......

There is nothing wrong with implementing computers into our education system. It is very important that they learn how to operate them since our future is based on technology. I think you are exaggerating. Most children I know are not like you describe. It's not like we removed gym class from schools.

I don't know if you're joking, but if you're not then you deserve a straight answer. [Disclaimer: I am not a history buff, I had to google many of these dates and there may be inaccuracies, but at least it's close.] The year 2019 is completely unrelated to the age of the earth, which is about 4.5 billion years old. Humans began to appear on the scene about 55 million years ago although they weren't much like humans as we know them until closer to 5 million years ago. I'm not sure whether there was a calendar before 1AD (more on that in a moment) but nowadays we often refer to dates prior to that as "BC", which counts up the further back you go in much the same way as negative numbers. Okay, so in about 500AD a Roman monk developed the idea of counting dates from the birth of Christ, labelling that year as 1AD, the year before it as 1BC, and every year since as something-or-other AD. It became popular in 800AD and it's what we use today. 2019 = 2019AD.

I remember reading an article about how an anthropology prof tried to teach kids how to tell female skeletons from male skeletons. One girl raised a hand and said that male skeletons would have one less rib, referring to the creation of woman by God using one of Adams ribs. The prof bought time by having her go count the ribs. That's when he explained about inheritance and how, even if you lose a thumb, it doesn't mean all your children will be born without that same thumb because of how your DNA is coded. Managed to teach without treading on beliefs. These people, however, need an open handed slap in the mouth in the form of written historical records (Egypt and Sumer.)

I reckon a number of these are sarcastic tweets. We still use dates related to BC and AD. So perhaps some are religious. Some may be tweets from children. But reading the comments is pretty disappointing tbh. Intelligence is measured on a range of factors. I clicked on the article to read comments and I don't see a need to mock people or call them names, ever. I think there is enough negativity online already. I'm an Aussie and we have a saying here "Fair go for All". Not one of the tweets is harmful or mean. Regardless of our own beliefs, they are all excited about the Earth and the new year.

This is why the Millennial's should be reading books instead of playing on social media, and cell phones texting. What is happening to Education? The full implementation of computers is happening. No one calls anyone now, they text. No one writes a letter. All the basic things that people should be doing. Not letting computers do it for us, until our bodies and are dead along with our brains. Might as well sit living in a chair with a straw and diapers, as long as your fingers work on a keyboard. We are becoming lazy as a society. Playgrounds for kids are empty etc.......

There is nothing wrong with implementing computers into our education system. It is very important that they learn how to operate them since our future is based on technology. I think you are exaggerating. Most children I know are not like you describe. It's not like we removed gym class from schools.

I don't know if you're joking, but if you're not then you deserve a straight answer. [Disclaimer: I am not a history buff, I had to google many of these dates and there may be inaccuracies, but at least it's close.] The year 2019 is completely unrelated to the age of the earth, which is about 4.5 billion years old. Humans began to appear on the scene about 55 million years ago although they weren't much like humans as we know them until closer to 5 million years ago. I'm not sure whether there was a calendar before 1AD (more on that in a moment) but nowadays we often refer to dates prior to that as "BC", which counts up the further back you go in much the same way as negative numbers. Okay, so in about 500AD a Roman monk developed the idea of counting dates from the birth of Christ, labelling that year as 1AD, the year before it as 1BC, and every year since as something-or-other AD. It became popular in 800AD and it's what we use today. 2019 = 2019AD.
