The one wakes up hearing noises & reaches over to the over bed to hold hands with her friend. It wasn't the friend's hand she was holding. Sixty years later & I still can't lay in a bed with my hand hanging over the edge.

Had that nightmare so many times as a kid, I decided as an adult that it was a kind of racial memory - something like animals creeping into caves and grabbing kids before the days when we even had beds.

But it is perfectly okay to have one foot uncovered when you are too hot. BUT only one foot. Monsters know the rules. They will not grab the one foot, only when both are uncovered.

Better safe than sorry.

In the summer, a single linen sheet prevents the monsters from grabbing me, tearing me apart, and eating my head, limbs, and torso whole.

I'm not afraid of the monster under the bed and usually have limbs hanging out, BUT since childhood (I'm 51) I HAVE to have the blanket around my neck to protect from vampires. I know, right? Doesn't matter.

Get a bed frame with drawers underneath. 100% monster blockage.

I can prove it. My son frequently sends me photos of the black and white horror under my bed. Her name is Pushka.

No doubt about it..there are gollywoggles under beds just waiting to snag a dangling arm or leg. I’m 66 years old and STILL have that fear.

It only leaves the closet and gets under the bed when mom leaves and the lights are out.
