I'm pretty much always remembered when I go to places more than a few times. But only because I have Cystic Fibrosis so even when I'm * healthy* I have a chronic and persistent cough. It's not contagious but it's constant, like every few minutes or more. Me without a cough is like the sun without the moon. So as soon as staff at my local coffee shop hear me ,sometimes before they've seen ,(its a very distinguishing cough ) they start to prepare my order before I've got to the counter.

Several years ago I was in Waffle House. A man sits at the counter next to me. The waitress walks over. The man says "I'll have what I had yesterday." Waitress responds, "I worked yesterday afternoon, not the morning." Man replies, "Tell the cook, he knows." The waitress looks at the cook, turns to the man and says, "He hasn't worked since Tuesday." The man angrily spits out "bacon and egg sandwich, side of coffee" and sat there pissed the rest of the time. WTF?

When my husband worked for the state rabies lab, they tested for all 92 counties plus private vet's office and some individuals. Occasionally information comes in without information, but in one case there was no contact information, not even who it came from. A few weeks later a vet's office worker called to find out why they hadn't gotten their results yet. When she gave the sample number my husband told her there had been no way to contact them, she snapped at him, "Well, didn't you recognize the handwriting?"

During the lockdowns in 2020, I started seeing an audiologist. At the time, the building had a "receptionist" in the lobby (they don't anymore) who would notify the individual clinic offices when a patient had arrived. He remembered my name the second time I came in. I asked if it was the hair (I had dyed it bright purple a couple weeks before my first appointment), and he said no, it was because I was nice to him. Being nice to service workers will almost always pay off, because they get it so rarely.

One of the best. My favorite is from Shelly Winters. This was well after she be came an established actress. Had interest in a script, was told to bring a headshot and a resume. Went to the meeting with a tote bag. When asked, she reached into the bag, pulled out an Oscar. Said "Here's my f*****g resume", reached back into the bag, pulled out a second Oscar and said "and here's my f*****g headshot". Brilliant!

Why? Why do people think it is acceptable to offer “exposure” as payment, particularly to artists? If you want and enjoy the fruits of their creative labor, PAY THEM with real money. “Starving artists,” are often starving because people undercompensate or outright steal their work.

Manager -- "The staff count as people." Customer -- "Not to *me* they don't!!"

Nobody likes to be treated poorly in the workplace, but the younger generation seems to be doing worse than their older colleagues when it comes to difficult interactions with customers. 72% of Gen Z workers say that interactions with people at work have worsened their mental health.

Almost the same number of retail employees say they might quit their job because of negative interactions with managers, co-workers, and, of course, customers. When it comes to employees of all ages, 59% say they're looking for a new job because customer and co-worker interactions are just too much.

Dealing with customers can be challenging and it seems to come in spurts when they're more difficult, but I try to handle it with good manners and humor. "A soft answer turneth away wrath." My boss used to tell me that I could tell someone to eff off, and they wouldn't even know it! I prided myself on it. The one I remember the most was the women with the hyphenated last name. I tried to explain to her that our computer programs and filing systems were not set up to deal with hyphenated last names so she could pick a name, preferably the first one, and we could find her by that easily. Literally not able to do hyphenated in our system. She was really peeved about it, but I told her it was beyond my control and it was.

Found A Total Of 6 “Gift Baskets” Today On The Shelves. Please Stop Doing This

Possible there was only one of some items that are no longer where they should be, so a customer looking for that item sees none there and leaves the store. If this is at a small business definitely do not do this. At Walmart, or other big brother box store, whatever. If I was the employee I would just leave it.

They used to flash the lights on and off to let customers know they were closing if they were inside, but after the closing hour-those people are tired and deserve a chance to go home and rest. If they show up at the next store after hours, I expect they will be disappointed again.

I worked at a store that made custom items. A couple comes in 10 minutes before closing. I told them that I had to close in 10 minutes and that I had to leave on time because I had a dr. appointment. They proceeded to keep me there designing for about 30 minutes then left without purchasing to "think it over". I was late to my dr. who charged me a $35 no-show fee. My boss was outraged the next morning when I had put in that I stayed 20 minutes past closing and he refused to pay me for it, as he didn't believe it happened. Never again would I stay late for a customer!

One reason why younger people might be complaining more about entitled customers is because Gen Z has come into the job market with different expectations. Dr Zoë Port, management lecturer at Massey University, explains that young workers don't sacrifice their values for a job.

"The overwhelming theme is they want to be treated like human beings, not like worker drones that are only there to fulfil tasks," she told Stuff. That's why young workers nowadays get branded as entitled or 'difficult to work with'. However, some experts ask: is it really too much to expect to be treated like a person?

well this brought back a funny memory of my days running a 7-Eleven.... so we have this guy that would constantly come in which eventually helped because then we knew how upset he would get. he would buy a couple bottles of soda and some food every lunch time. if you touch the bottle by the cap or top which neither one you put your mouth by the way he would freak out go put them back again new ones. I understand not touching the top of a cup or even maybe a can because in your hands are on the top of a can but a bottle of soda that cap is covering where your mouth goes... used to hate serving that guy he was so nasty about everything

Retail workers aren't the only profession affected by infuriating customers. Other frontline workers like servers, hospital staff, and those who work in information, finance, and insurance face abusive behavior from customers, too.

"From being cursed at on the phone or at the customer service counter to threats of violence in a hospital ER, frontline workers in all fields deal with difficult customer interactions," Senior Director and Head of the Center for Workforce Transformation at Perceptyx Emily Killham explained.

And that is why you a) get a written & signed contract; b) collect a 50% non-refundable deposit before starting work; and c) require the balance paid in full prior to product delivery (or, depending on the product/service, balance less 10% retention).

How do people not pay attention to their children out in public? If your kid can do this without you noticing...let's just say that poking holes in the burgers took longer than it does for someone to abduct your child.

We would often go to eat Sunday dinner at our local country club when I was younger. There was a fastidious couple whose small child had gone to select a dessert and he was poking his finger into the center of each pre-cut piece of cake. His mother would have died had she known! He is an adult now and I shared that memory with him. He did not remember. No one told his mother. He was just a little fellow then. His parents would have paid for all the damaged pieces but it was handled by the club staff quietly when my father pointed it out to them. No need to embarrass his folks.

Frontline workers also have other work-related stresses to deal with. Whether they're working in retail or hospitality, many employees receive inadequate pay, long work hours, and staff shortages. And it isn't just an American problem; hospitality workers in New Zealand are experiencing more and more verbal abuse and threats from customers, too.

Experts attribute it to the tough financial situation both the workers and the customers are in. They say the cost of living crisis has made people stressed, and, sometimes, people lash out at frontline workers.

Many years ago I worked in Tesco as a butcher. One day a woman strolled in wanting to return a pack of pork chops. I explained that we don't actually accept returned products from other retail chains, and advised her to go the store she purchased the chops from. She then demanded to see a manager as according to her, all the store chains are owned by the one BIG company. A manager duly arrived and exchanged the chops for her. I questioned the manager over why he had did that as the chops weren't from our store or company. His reply was that it was always best to keep the customer happy, as she would then return to the store to shop. Trying to explain to the idiot manager that she never shopped with us was like talking to a brick wall. The customer did indeed return to our store, but only to return a sweater she had purchased 15 years ago in Marks & Spencer. And yet again the customer service moron gave her a refund.

Omg I freaking hate when managers do that. I worked at Walmart for a few years and the amount of c**p managers took back when the customer service person denied it was astounding. We once found a sweater in a return cart of a brand that Walmart hasn't sold in years. Losing 1 s****y customer is not the big loss most companies think it is.

I once created a logo for someone's online store. We'd agreed on a trade. She made amazing jewelry and she was supposed to make me an opal necklace in exchange. I worked my a*s off on creating something awesome based on her guidelines. When it was done she absolutely loved it. She raved about it. She used the logo. I waited on my necklace. I finally reached out to ask about it and she stated that she'd changed her mind on the logo and wanted something simpler. So, since she was no longer using it, she didn't need to hold up her end of the bargain. I'm not a professional artist by any means. I'm a hobbyist. But that experience is one among many that made me stop dipping my toe into getting paid for my hobby. I absolutely started to hate doing it. In fact, once I stopped taking commissions, I took a huge break from drawing, and painting all together.

Interestingly, some polite consumer habits might also aggravate employees. What to some might seem like polite banter, to others can be annoying. Like when customers try making small talk and ask workers if they like their jobs. One Old Navy employee, Ethan S., told Reader's Digest that he simply lies. "Then they leave happy, but it makes me depressed because I feel like I have to put on a fake front for people. I'd rather they just didn't ask that question."

Customers Wanted To Inspect Cupcakes By Flipping Them Upside-Down

Cupcakes in plastic packaging with squashed blue and white frosting, illustrating customer cluelessness.

Happens to cakes as well. At least a few times a week someone will flip the package over (to inspect the bottom of the cake I guess?) and they typically put it right back on the table after ruining the icing and decorations. Not the end of the world, but mildly infuriating for me.

My comment doesn’t apply to this picture but customers could be turning the package upside in order to read the ingredients. I have purchased a couple of baked goods with frosting from Krogers and Sprouts that had the ingredients tag on the bottom of the package. You have no choice but to turn the package upside down to do allergy checks.

Even if my parents had left me alone in a store as a kid I would have known better than to do something like this. (Oh, and I love Squishmallows. I'm 50 years old and I sleep with 2 of them. :) I use them as support pillows, but I still think they're fun.)

Wow, unbelievable. When my sister and I were kids and my mum had to take us shopping we always ran off the moment we arrived, in the beginning mum would retrieve us ( always in the toy / book section.) We'd just run off again. In the end she just let us go the the toy section each time she shopped and collected us once she was done. We mostly read a magazine or book, ( which she'd purchase). The staff actually got to know us and complimented my mum on our nice polite behaviour. We'd always put back or tidy whatever we'd looked at or played with.

Why would a responsible parent allow their children to "run off" , be "retrieved" and "just run off again"!!! Nice polite behaviour my @**e. NB, and why reward this behaviour with presents? 🤦🤷

One of my many pet hates when I worked in retail. One of the others was workers ,on finding things like this, just returning them to shelf they came from.

Sometimes, customers may also try to be helpful by folding the clothes they looked at but didn't like. This might seem like a basic polite thing to do, but retail workers actually hate it. "We have to fold things a certain way, and most customers don't know how to do that," another Gap and Old Navy employee in Texas, Olivia S., explains.

    Creepy Guy Thrown Out

Customer cluelessness review mentioning racial profiling and considering legal action.

Context: was closing at my job with a 18 year old still in high school coworker. We have a regular guy who comes in all the time, and he’s clearly a little not right in the head. It’s about 9 at night so it’s dark too.

I’m checking the guy out, and he sees my coworker mopping nearby. He shouts out “oh there’s my tiny girl! Where are you going prey? I’m gonna stalk you, I like scaring people!” For a couple minutes and is actively looking for her, and I can see by the way she’s shuffling away that she’s uncomfortable.

I page for my manager to come up and wait for the gentleman to leave the store, and then tell her that I was uncomfortable about that guy and didn’t like the way he was talking to a teenager. My manager has always told me she had my back, and she literally chased the guy out and told him not to return or we’ll call the cops.

All is well ends well, right? Nope. Corporate called the owner mad over the review he left - where he literally admits he was saying weird stuff. I don’t know the history with this customer, but a couple other coworkers have come up about being uncomfortable around him.

This why management suck. They always say they have your back with a*****e customers or unsafe conditions until they come up. Then it's customers is always right or it's just this one time (every time). No backbone. When I started working we as the front line employee had the right to cancel service with a customer who was repeatedly a*****e. No manager needed, no questions asked. Now I'm not even customer facing and I have to indulge nosey busy bodies that come up to randomly talk to me while I'm in a hole working with energized equipment in an outage because you literally can't tell people you can't talk to them right now because you're dealing with an outage. They will throw a absolute fit. People you are not entitled to interrupt p

I Got This Google Review Left About Me

Customer review highlighting cluelessness about closing times, rating a business poorly for closing at 9:55 PM.

This is a small local shop, often with only one employee closing so we’re instructed to close up shop if no one is in the store at about 9:55pm, so that we’re out the door at 10pm.

This dude called at 9:30pm asked if we’re open until 10pm and then says his GPS was giving an ETA of 10pm on the dot, I said well we normally lock up around 9:55 to start closing down if no one’s in the store but as long as they’re in the door before 10pm and they knew what they wanted to buy I’d check them out. He said well can’t you just wait to close until I get there? And I said I’m sorry sir but we do close at 10pm, and he hung up on me.

Thankfully the owner is a nice dude and I didn’t get in trouble for this but are you serious dude, you could cost someone your job for that.

You're not a customer, you're a selfish jerk who thinks all service employees exist to serve you, the "holy, all powerful" customer. They work long hours for pay that's barely a liveable wage (mostly not) and you DARE to force them to work past the time they are told to close - just because you can't manage your time?

Other customers think that the way stores organize clothes doesn't make sense. The Old Navy employee Ethan S. witnessed such a case when a lady put the 10 and 12 sizes on the racks in the front.

In her mind, it made sense: the average woman in America is either of those two sizes, and the way the store organizes the clothes just isn't representative of that. However, employees didn't appreciate her efforts: corporate rules dictate that clothes have to be hung from smallest to largest.

Was there a sale? Man, many moons ago when I worked in retail and there was a sale and people used to do this cṟap we used to stay after hours to clean it all up and restock it took forever to do this and then they do it again the next day so then we’d have to restock it all but I used to refuse to do it again the next night so they’d have to put me somewhere else Because it would just make me angry.

This is true. And it'll always be that way. I've spent most of my time in food-service, but I've worked retail, too. And I can tell you with confidence that, even IF the companies didn't actively encourage us not to confront thieves, we still wouldn't. The company has insurance for that, and even if they didn't, there's not a GD thing in ANY store that's worth my life. Especially considering the company doesn't give a dàmn about me anyway. What companies should do, is hire security. But that would look bad to customers, make them think the store is unsafe, and drive sales down. And more importantly, it would cost the company money. And we all know the CEOS and executives of these companies are deathly allergic to spending money on anything but themselves. And thieves know all this, too. So they keep stealing. It's a disgusting cycle. I HATE a thief!!

I was sitting in the shop café one afternoon and there was a lady with mobility issues sat a few tables away. She had parked her mobility scooter just near the wall of the cafe entrance. Some random woman went up and grabbed it so she didn't need to walk around the store. The scooter owners husband instantly got up to get her off and this entitled woman told him f you, I'm tired and don't feel like walking around the store, I'll bring it back when I'm done so stop being selfish. He told her his wife can barely walk but again she said they were selfish and not using it anyway. She then rode off on it running the man's foot over in the process. Security stopped her and police were called. Entitled woman was arrested for theft and potentially a*****t. Wild.

I always go to my car in the scooter and ask that they come with me so they can return the cart and help unpack my groceries. My spouse is on the other end at home. The store is always unfailingly polite and helpful. I have been told by a young man who drove his own car to work that OSHA does not let people his age drive a scooter-someone else had to come with me. He could be on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier directing traffic of jets, but he can't drive a scooter-insanity! He agreed.

If the handicap spots are full, disabled people will park where they can and can't wait idling and hoping for a handicap spot. The pain of getting to the door is at least cut in half by being able to drive a scooter back to the car. I'm a scooter user and I could never make that walk. If Walmart would like to walk out with me, I'll be glad to hand it over but none ever do. There is no way I'm able to make that kind of walk a second time and barely a 1st time. I usually go with my hubba hubby and he will drive it back for me but he's not always available when I need to make a trip. That, Neopet22, is why there is a scooter in the middle of the parking lot.

When Clients Try To Dictate Your Prices

Text exchange showing customer cluelessness in negotiating service price reduction attempts.

Grinds my gears when clients do this. We priced his property at $240+tax per month - and this is our pricing for him since 2021.

Last winter, he decided that he wasn't gonna hire us. This year, he called to book the service for the season. I told him on the phone that it will still be the same price as before to which he just said "okay". This is our conversation the following morning after our phone conversation.

Nothing about this bill looks right and the words "copy" above the hundred. Clearly signs of being photocopied and triggering basically a VOID message. Our prescriptions worked the same way-you never saw the VOID until you photocopied them. Then it was obvious. Amazing how many people tried it.

Bravo to businesses hiring those with special needs. We can all develop more compassion for those in the workforce for whom not everything comes naturally. Everyone deserves a chance to learn and have mishaps - it's how we all grow. If I saw this scenario unfold while out with my kids, all it does is give me an opportunity to help them understand what they are witnessing, and likewise develop more empathy. I can imagine that, in my most generous perspective, perhaps the FB poster didn't have someone to model this for him, and thus reacted out of his own fear and ignorance at "how crazy" it felt to him. I find it important to remember that my "busy neurotypical day" won't be hampered all that much by making space for workers with special needs. Who simply want to have purpose like any human and not be shut away from able-bodied eyes.

In this day and age Aspergers isn’t special needs. It’s just another thing that people have because so many people have it. In fact, it’s become a thing ‘’to get diagnosed with“. How do I know? I spoke to my doctor about it.. i’m actually trying to get medicated for Mira like symptoms of ADHD from my brain damage. I do not see brain injuries because I hate the word injuries because an injury implies it can heal, be repaired or fix itself. Mine is brain damage for obvious reasons. Anyway, she has told me that it has become a fashion thanks to TikTok which is a disease by the way, that people nowadays just want to be diagnosed with ADHD and Aspergers so basically all you have to do (in Australia) is go to your doctor and tell them that you think you may have the mentioned above, tell them that you want to see a psychiatrist about it, they send a referral for you to the psychiatrist you go to the psychiatrist, you pay a lot of money for it-between 1200 to 2 grand, and she has sent…

so far 45 referrals, not a single one has been rejected except mine so far… And not a single person has been NOT diagnosed… And that’s how easy it is in Australia to be diagnosed as ADHD Aspergers if you want to be. You’re just pay for it. The psychiatrist are raking it in in fact the government should actually look into it because it’s becoming a problem. They probably will start looking into it soon because it’s getting ridiculous how easy it is for people to get diagnosed and it’s becoming a problem for people who are actually you know ADHD and Aspergers because soon they won’t be able to get diagnosed because of people figuring out and just taking advantage of the system and the psychiatrists RAKING in the money. That’s all it is.

Nah, if an employee is having a lengthy screaming meltdown, I am going to be the a*****e here, because if management is not out there on the jiffy handling this because they know that person has special needs - I am the f**k out of there. If a full grown adult is having a screaming temper tantrum in the middle of a business, and they are an actual employee? And the rest of the staff is just ignoring this? How am I supposed to know what the hell is going to happen next?? Nope.I am the hell out of there. Downvote this all you want.

I don't get why you are downvoted because it's true,if you are visiting a business and an employee is yelling, crying, cursing, you don't know them or if they have special needs. You can feel bad for them maybe, obviously don't take their pic and share it online, but I would be scared and worried. I also believe that management should be on top of things and trained enough on how to handle a special needs employee to ensure the business is not affected.

I Work In A Small Natural Foods Grocery Store. We Have A Regular Customer Who Steals Dates Then Leaves The Pit In Random Places Throughout The Store

A single pistachio shell left on an otherwise empty store shelf, illustrating customer cluelessness.

We've found pits on shelves, in cold cases, sitting next to fresh baked goods. It's so gross. It's been going on for years and no one seems to know who it is.

It's time to check your cctv! Once my grocery store was filling my script. I got home and it wasn't in my bag-I panicked because it had a controlled substance in it and I knew they would not re- write it for me. I called the store and they told me they didn't have it. The girl who checked me out said, "I put it with the watermelon" so I thought she was sure. I asked them to check outside in the parking lot. They did and no bag of meds was found. I went back to the store and looked around in the parking lot myself, thinking that some person had taken those meds (an antibiotic, an antifungal and a controlled substance) just for the meds. I went to the store manager and asked for help. Her bright idea to check cctv. It showed the employee in the pharmacy reshelving it with others. I was so grateful. The poor clerk was mystified as she was sure she had bagged it. It happens-it did happen. Thank God for that cctv and the manager, Carola, for looking on it. I got my meds back intact.

In my time in retail, these are usually returns, or something the customer changed their minds about at check out. I worked briefly at Home Depot, and there were usually a few carts at the end of the night that were returns.

I left a cart once at a large department store. I went to use the bathroom and unfortunately someone had "painted" brown, stinky stuff all over - handmade paint, if you know what I mean. Walls, floor, ceiling, all the toilets, sinks, stalls. Gagging, I immediately went to customer service to tell them. The girl said, "Oh, you must be the fifth one today to say that" and didn't do a thing about it. I left.

They understaff, and seem to intentionally hire staff that like to hide from customers. You can argue that they underpay, but a friend’s daughter was making $25/hour last year in a small town with low COL.

it's very hard and convenient stores when you're the only one working there. My husband works at a gas station kind of next door to my house and if he has to go to the bathroom they're such a pain over there that I'll have to walk over and man the register while he goes to the bathroom. so even the bosses don't see you as people sometimes...

You missed the sale, and the item is no longer on sale for that price. It's price may still be lower than normal so technically it may still be on sale, but just not for what it was when you took the photo.

Does this person mean that the item was originally priced at $1400 and then marked up to $2200 and then marked as "on sale"? Because I'd be upset by that too. Or are they saying they found it on sale and missed the sale before it went back up to the original $2200 price?

I hear this a lot from people complaining about not being seen. Our offices give patients up to 15 minutes to be late. After that it's up to the provider if they are seen. We tell people that if they call to say they are running late. I was 2 mins late and they wouldn't see me. Click on the appt and they showed up 20 mins late or long. All appts say to arrive 15 mins early to get parked and checked in.

I worked in a primary care setting, and patients would often call and tell us that they were running late. Patients always had to wait to be seen, so if we could, we would accommodate them, but if not, we would tell them on the phone. They could always come and take their chances on a work-in but that held no guarantees of being seen until the end of the day. If we could handle the patient ourselves with a phone call to a pharmacy, we would just call in meds. Most people tried to be early and we always asked them to as there is always some kind of paperwork that needs to be done, even if it's just an updated meds list. Sometimes it just happens and life gets in the way. If you are chronically late-then it's an issue and we don't deal with that. We send you a lovely letter asking you to find another provider as we try to stay on time as much as we can. The doctor always spends the amount of time with a patient that they need, so just wait your turn.

They tell us and another family to wait outside, as there's a big group of church people inside, hogging all of the tables (this is about 3:15, they've been there since lunch) it sounded like the owners were about to get pissed, as they hadn't ordered anything, and were keeping away customers.

No just no, i agree with the food stores here. If they close at 10 then you should count on them not letting more customers in 5 or 10 minutes before closing, you don't just slither in 3 minutes begore closing and expect them to serve you. It takes time for staff to close the store and do all the things they need to have done before being able to go home. I would guess atleast 20 or 30 minutes before they can finally go home.

I'm on the store's side. Close at 10 means they are closed for business exactly at 10. You can waltz in at 9:55 but if you aren't checked out by the time they close tills at 10 then you're SOL. When I worked retail, my evening shift was scheduled until 10. I was supposed to clock out at 10. We were expected to start shutting down our registers at 9:55 so we could be closed at 10. If we waited until 10 to close out then the stores closing hours would say 10:05. Any reasonable person who is not a total a******n would not walk into a store at 9:57 expecting to be able to purchase cat food.

    Nancy Austin

If you start closing your tills at 9:55, then you don't close at 10pm, Your doors should be locked at 10 to new customers and then at 10 you close out your registers. Either lights should be flashed or a verbal warning to come to registers before you close at 10pm. If it's after that and they are still wandering-that is sad for them. Your stated time is 10 and you have provided a "last call" warning for them. That's all you can do.

Worked in grocery for a long time and completely agree with the customer here. The closing time is when you lock the doors, stop letting people in, and make your final announcement for any remaining customers to bring their purchases to the front before a manager walks the aisles to shepard any holdouts to the front. Closing employees are scheduled to work 30 to 60 mintues to accommodate this and the time it takes to close out. But more importantly, I can tell you from experience that there are always very few customers left around this time, and, two, 99/100 of the ones walking in with 5 minutes to spare are literally trying to get one quick thing. The other 1/100 turns around a walks out when you politely tell them you are closing.

During lock down our usual store was very short staffed so while my husband would unload the cart I would bag. I was not happy about this but understood. Upside was that I got to sort the stuff into bags by where they needed to go at home. Got to the point I usually tell the bagger that I'd prefer to do it myself.

I always put all the cold stuff together on the checkout lane, so they can bag it together and I can unload it together. Nothing like ice cream melting because it's not in the right place. Our checkers are great! I don't want to use my own bags-it's just something else to drag around and if you have $3oo worth of groceries, they can provide bags for it-we reuse them at home.

    Open The Schools

Cardboard box with handwritten note: "Next Chickens out @ 1:00," highlighting customer cluelessness in a humorous setting.

Today, our busiest day of the week, we were understaffed in the rotisserie so naturally we were a little behind. Instead of answering 100 different peoples questions of when the chickens would be done I wrote this sign, propped it up out front and went into the back to skew.

At about 2pm, after that batch had been out and was long gone, a manager came back and asked me why I was "selling chickens for a buck" (I doubt he got the pun) but I guess people were telling the cashiers that I had a hand written sign advertising chickens as 1 dollar? Are people illiterate?

Not sure it would, they would probably think it was $13, which would also be incorrect. If they could work out that it was a time, surely they could work out that the store isn't open in the middle of the night so it meant 1pm?

Generally most stores will replace food/drink if it's dropped, especially if it's on the stores premise. So their complaint is actually reasonable (assuming he's telling the truth, and actually did just buy it from them). I've never been denied a replacement when something spilled. You just ask nicely if they can replace it, and every reasonable business will replace it.

Big issue always is that people seem drawn to drop carts in the handicapped spots . A permitted person would need to stop, exit the vehicle, move at least three carts, get back in the vehicle, park, and then get out of the car again to go into the store. Good chance they may have to move additional abandoned carts when they leave. This is a physical therapy most don't need. Also, the lane for a wheelchair ramp is blocked.

As someone with a disabled placard, I have a specific issue with this as these are blocking a disabled parking space. HOWEVER, I would also like to ask that stores provide cart returns much closer to disabled parking spaces as I also use the cart as a mobility aid when I am shopping, and if I have to walk 50 - 100 feet to return it, it is painful and challenging to walk back to my vehicle. I try to place carts where they are not blocking any part of a space or the area designated for a lift for a wheelchair van, but having a cart return would make it even easier!

Apparently Working Here Means I Know Big And Little

So these are our registers for self checkout. I’ve had people stare confused at the smaller screen (pin pad) and try to figure out how to proceed, when they need to look at the big screen.

I’ve told customers this in a polite and friendly way, even showing them the screen when I say “hey, gotta hit the button on the big screen.” A good number of them look between the two screens as if they cannot decide which is bigger, and I’m trying to logically deduce how they can be confused. But then a few of them have gotten angry: “You work here so it is easy for you!”

Easy for me… to know the difference between BIG and LITTLE…Because I work at a retailer?
