162 Stunning Driftwood Sculptures By Debra Bernier Tell The Forgotten Stories Of The Ocean
Debra Bernier is an extraordinary artist from Victoria, Canada. She uses natural materials, such as driftwood, clay, and shells to create mesmerising sculptures. These intricate pieces represent the spirits of nature as human fusing together with the natural material. "When I work with driftwood, I never start with a blank canvas. Each piece of driftwood is already a sculpture, created by the caresses of the waves and wind" Debra told Bored Panda. "The wood tells a story and I try to think of its journey as I hold it in my hand. I extend or shorten the curves and contours that already exist into familiar shapes of animals or peoples' faces."
The sculptor is inspired by her love for what is most sacred in the world - children, animals, nature. "The finished pieces are a reflection of not only my life, my family, and children, but of an eternal, sacred connection we all share with nature," she says.
Debra was in love with the beach and nature from childhood and she is still happy and thankful that she is able to share this love and her art with people. "The little girl in me is still fascinated by the shapes in wood, the sun sparkling on the water, smooth, grey stones, and salty seaweed. Simplicity brings me more happiness than complexity. I hope to share this with others."

Does anybody else see an eagles head above her head? Gosh, simply amazing!
Amazing!! Like seeing a real fairy emerging from her wooden home.
Its is amazing how well you carve the faces! So smooth like flesh. Very feminine finish.
This matches in intention one of my own - overcoming tragedy into entirely different person... IMG_0369-5...e87b87.jpg
Can anyone tell me what she, the artist, uses for the blue tears in this one? I've seem some blue detailing as well as a smattering of other colors in some of Debra's other creations and am curious as to what she uses to create these details.. If anyone know please do share. If it is a paint then please do tell what kind but I feel like her Artwork is created in such a sacred kindred with nature way that Deborah may be one of those artists who tries to keep her artwork as close to natural as possible. However that is simply my opinion.
This speaks volumes to me in my path of adversity into transcendence of the gifted soul I was intended to be ... your work is of a devine nature it is my hope that those who have had pleasure of purchasing your pieces treasure that spiritually more than a simple monetary exchange.
It is beautiful when people can mix art with nature and have such beautiful results. Thanks for sharing!
