I Spent Five Months Designing This Dragon Pattern, What Do You Think?

It took me 8 years to get to the point where I can write crochet patterns for other people to follow.

This particular dragon pattern took me five months to design, and now that the pattern has been published, I can’t wait to see what new dragons are born into this world because of it!

I love your book with these in. Gorgeous. I’m about to buy yarn for the big dragon in the cover. What color is down his chest/neck/belly? I’m probably making it out of ice yarn but I can’t find a similar color.

I actually just posted the first add-on pattern for two alternative styles of front legs plus a how-to-wear-your-dragon-on-your-shoulder. The add-on pattern should be used in conjunction with the original pattern. It's available the same place you go the original pattern!

It is fabulous! Is there anyway of having a uk version? Apparently you call stitches different names to us (I don't crochet, but I'm wanting a friend to make this design for he) xxx

Community Member
7 years ago DotsCreated by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

There are easy to read graphic keys on Pinterest that translate the stitch names between US and English patterns. I've read both, and it's not that difficult an issue to deal with. :)

Sooo cute. So after many years of resistance, being a pure knitter, now I must give in to my friends and learn to crochet. Wow! how hard are these to make ? for a novice ?

Community Member
7 years ago DotsCreated by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

Haha! Come to the dark side! Crochet is super fun, and fairly simple to pick up. But I did list this pattern as intermediate or above. It utilizes every stitch there is, plus a few I made up (clearly defined in the pattern's glossary). But everybody needs a goal, right?

The pattern is $5, you can find it on Ravelry under Crafty Intentions, and the basic pattern takes me around 30 hours give or take. You can purchase the pattern, and I permit the sale of anything you make from my patterns provided that you hand make it yourself and do not share the actual written pattern with anyone else.

I actually just posted the first add-on pattern for two alternative styles of front legs plus a how-to-wear-your-dragon-on-your-shoulder. The add-on pattern should be used in conjunction with the original pattern. It's available the same place you go the original pattern!

I sold out of all of the dragons I made in service of writing the pattern. I might make more to sell in the future, and if so they'll be available on my etsy page by Crafty Intentions

It is fabulous! Is there anyway of having a uk version? Apparently you call stitches different names to us (I don't crochet, but I'm wanting a friend to make this design for he) xxx

There are easy to read graphic keys on Pinterest that translate the stitch names between US and English patterns. I've read both, and it's not that difficult an issue to deal with. :)

Where do we get the pattern? You comment the pattern has been published but I don't see a link to it.

Sooo cute. So after many years of resistance, being a pure knitter, now I must give in to my friends and learn to crochet. Wow! how hard are these to make ? for a novice ?

Haha! Come to the dark side! Crochet is super fun, and fairly simple to pick up. But I did list this pattern as intermediate or above. It utilizes every stitch there is, plus a few I made up (clearly defined in the pattern's glossary). But everybody needs a goal, right?

Congratulations! Designing a workable pattern for crotchet and knitting is not easy. Your Dragons are simply not of this world. So totally beautiful. I especially like the last photo of the cat trying to touch the Dragon! Keep going and good luck...

SO PRECIOUS! I ADORE & CHERISH DRAGONS. I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE THEM MYSELF, BUT WOULD ALSO LIKE TO KNOW WHAT THEIR PRICE IS. I KNOW THE TIME & EFFORT YOU'VE PUT INTO THESE (I MADE DOLLS & THEIR CLOTHES), & WOULDN'T MIND PAYING A REASONABLE PRICE FOR ONE YOU'VE MADE YOURSELF, SIGNED OR TAGGED IF POSSIBLE. THANK YOU FOR SUCH LITTLE BEAUTIES. LOOKING FORWARD TO A HOUSEFUL! MS. J. ROSE BARLOW (FACEBOOK: JROSEBRLW)

This is a really beautiful design and I'm sure you worked really hard to create it! I would like to know how much the pattern would be to purchase and how long they take to make it you're willing to sell the pattern
