Equality is humanity's Holy Grail, the cornerstone of most value systems, but we have yet to reap all of its rewards. Sure, our society has tremendously evolved for the better during the last, say, 100 years, but a long journey is still ahead, and the vast array of double standards that still divide people to this day highlight this perfectly.

The double standard definition states that it is a rule or a principle applied to different people or groups. The most prominent case of double standard examples to this day come from gender equality. What's usually okay for men, is not acceptable when done by women. Starting with beach attire and ending with lady bosses, society finds unnecessary ways to chime in about what's wrong and what's right.

Bored Panda has compiled a list of insightful illustrations that uncover the uncomfortable truth behind some everyday life situations, and it's (mildly) disturbing how accurate they are. Judging by these images, it's clear that sometimes terms like 'gender equality' are reduced to no more than a catchphrase. Scroll down to see the proof for yourself, and vote for your favorites.

I kinda like emotional boys more, like, atleast they aren't like those "badass" shitsacks like others. Also, expressing emotions is actually good for own body.

If men were more emotionally intelligent, the male suicide rate wouldn't be as high.

It would be fun to live in a world where my gender isn't an insult.

My boyfriend and I both cry during the sad parts of movies. It's a bonding experience.

It's funny how they think the main reason why men aren't usually emotional is simply because of some macho stereotype or some kind of nonsense. When in reality, it is the women themselves who perpetuate that. Women tend to like tough and strong guys, those who can solve their problems alone without getting anxious for every 5 minutes. We simply strive to look attractive, throughout history you can see how we try a thousand and one ways to make a woman we like fall in love and in practice, it has been shown that crying does not achieve that

men with no emotional confuse me. emo and "bad boys" A. do some of the weirdest things and B. aren't fun to hang around with because they just complain. and C. why do people find bad girls/boys/others or emo kids hot

My partner once actually said, that to sit on the toilet to pee is degrading because that's how a woman does it. I was speechless with rage, though I'm certain he wouldn't even remember saying it

This is religions fault. In christianity, Eva, "the woman", is blammed for eating the apple, and Maria Magdalena is just a s**t; they are both showed as sinners. Actually, Eva was blammed for Adan's actions, and Maria Magdalena was the partner of Jesus and she was more important than any of the apostles, but this stuff doesnt appear in the bible. The ppl that built religions took the original message, messed it to their own convenience and then spead it. just humans' hand can make a perfect message so inconcecuent and contradictory. Sry for the english.

Eve actually ate the apple. Who was to blame for that? I agree that Adam blamed Eve for his actions but people always try to pass blame, so it's kinda a human trait. If you're trying to say that the Bible is biased in saying who sinned, I really disagree. And with the issue of Mary Magdalene, could you please point out where in the Bible she played your said role of more significance?

being a man and being honest emotionally is not permitted in most parts of modern society. It made childhood a special sort of painful.

I'd rather everyone stop with the public displays of emotion. If you need to cry, go into the restroom and stuff a wash rag into your mouth, like a decent person. :P h
