Artist Creates Dolls With Vitiligo For Kids With This Rare Skin Condition

Everyone wants to feel represented and looks like many artists nowadays are on a mission to make everyone feel included.

Kay Black, aka Kay Customz, creates unique custom-made dolls inspired by real people. Her newest, beautiful creations are amazing dolls with vitiligo. The artist paints the skin of her dolls with intricate patterns inspired by images of women and girls who have this condition and creates different styles fitting each doll.

“I love what I do and take pride in each custom design!” says the artist, and we believe she should as Kay’s creations make the world a better place.

Gorgeous. Would like to see a Caucasian doll, too. My (32yr old) blond, blue eyed niece has vitiligo. She would've gone nuts :)!

I'm 1/2 mexican, this condition & mongolian marks are fairly common in our family. I wish more dolls like these existed for every skin color.

Don't get me wrong I love the idea of more acceptance dolls especially working the in the preschool field. I see alot of children even upset cause they are darker than their mom. But to make the clear distinction of Africa is poorly represented because caucasians have this disease as well.

I agree they should make dolls for Caucasians and other ethnicities with this disease, but progress has to start somewhere guys.

Dunno why people are putting the onus on a black woman to do it either. There are millions doll makers that don't make dolls with vitiligo. Why aren't they doing it too?

Love to see these in every skin colour. Vitiligo is common in my family, and I know a number of Caucasians with it too.

PROBLEM....!‼️ ‼️‼️‼️WRONG CONTINENT!‼️‼️‼️‼️ ..We are not from there😳 - WE are the #Autochthon & Indigenous Peoples of the America(s)🇲🇦... this DOLL though it may seem harmless is a part of a FREE MASONIC COLONIAL MILITARY WAR FAR CAMPAIGN, in the mass media - ((designed)) to Disenfranchise, #ESCHEAT and #convince these, "so called" PEOPLE OF COLOR, BLACKS, NERO, COLOREDS, AFRICAN AMERICANS, HEBREWS, INDIANS ETC... ... TO CONVINCE THEM to give-up #their ((🇲🇦Jus Sanginis, Jus Soli)) blood and birthrights to these Vast America Estates and their Ancient Moorish Al Moroccan Empire today known as the United States Republic... give it up by disconnecting themselves from the land by their own confession! Basically to keep this BLACK/ WHITE/ AFRICAN social engineering thing going that has our people in the position of FKed from the get go! Truth-2-5d...976f66.jpg Truth-2-5d2aa63976f66.jpg

White Nonsense Roundup volunteer here. As white people we are conditioned to be centered. We do not have to be featured in everything and everywhere. It is perfectly reasonable to have dolls representing people other than white people. If you want a white doll with vitiligo, perhaps ask an American doll company to make on for you.

when I have opportunity to treat someone with vitiligo I do not show rejection to the contrary I treat him like any normal person and more even if he is a child

People who are complaining about the shape of Africa are missing the point. Those dolls specifically are representing African culture as is the jewelry that she makes as well. The onus is not on her, a black artist making black dolls, to make white dolls with vitiligo. Instead of asking her why she isn't doing it, ask white doll makers who make white dolls why THEY aren't?

I really wish I could see more boy dolls being made because at this point in time I have not seen not one boy doll with vitiligo and I highly doubt it will actually become a movement. Not to mention not all people with vitiligo are a darker skin color. We are Puerto Rican but my son is a very light skin color. It is extremely hard to find any type of book any type of toy or anything that looks like him and it can be really emotionally damaging especially for these kids and boys self-esteem. Not bashing this site or these beautiful dolls at all but I wish there was more diversity in general within the people who are caring enough to make these dolls. 1. there isn't enough people making these dolls and to no one is even thinking about the lighter skin children or boys. That is sad because vitiligo does not care about your skin color it will affect you no matter what color you are. 2.My son, other boys and also lighter skinned kids can be very self-conscious and need this support too

I have looked for a cure for my vitiligo for 20 years. I have never given it up. I have always thought that there must be a solution, a cure for it; I only have to find it. Even in this case, faith is the most important. My vitiligo started when I was 14 years old. It took me 20 years to find a treatment method that was effective. A book series helped me to find it. I guess it is still available: http://newtreatmentsforvitiligo.com http://curingvitiligo.blogspot.com/

Are you equally upset for there not being an asian doll, or do you just feel personally left out?
