Turns out, there are quite a few pups with the mannerisms of a feline. They like to climb fridges and trees, and even fold themselves for a nap in a box after these workouts. Our dog Scruffy and one of our cats, Smudgy, together are a cat and a dog. Except for the fact that Scruffy is a cat in a dog suit and Smudgy is a dog in a cat suit… (yep, opposite species’ behaviors and everything).

While dogs and cats have some personal characteristics in common, there are a few very distinct differences between them.
For example, consider the natural social nature of canines compared to the typically solitary personality of felines. Dogs are pack animals and most cats tend to spend time alone. Whether it's eating, sleeping, or sharing their space. Truth be told, there can be several reasons why a dog is acting like a cat. Various situations and even medical conditions can be the root cause of this behavior.
1. A dog is imitating the cats around it. If the two species are living in the same house, chances are the dog is imitating the cat because it notices you giving attention to the cat and wants the same;
2. A dog is suffering from separation anxiety. This condition can make a dog act in weird ways just to be close to you, including sticking close to you just like a cat would;
3. A dog has skin problems. We see cats grooming themselves ceaselessly just to be clean, but a dog that licks itself in a similar fashion can be suffering from some sort of skin issue;

4. A dog wants a better vantage point. Some breeds, especially watchdogs would appreciate having this advantage in order to be on top of things;
5. Your dog is bored and wants attention. Sometimes, wagging your tail and chewing on furniture can get pretty boring, so dogs start doing anything that brings attention to them;
6. The dog's breed. Some examples that possess more cat-like traits than others are: the Basenji, Whippet, Vizsla, Mi-Ki, Shiba Inu, Papillon, Shetland sheepdog, Italian greyhound, and more.

When I was a kid my border collie who was only supposed to be upstairs if he was with people pushed the bathroom door open and then accidentally pushed it shut behind him. My (cat in a dog suit) dog Scruffy does this. He also grooms himself (well, where he can reach—-he’s gotten rather tubby in his old age) like a cat, including licking his paw and rubbing it over his face.

From what I can see, the pup’s ears are just relaxed and fallen backwards, which means they aren’t cropped. When they’re cropped, they’re forced to stand upward but when they fold back it means they’re natural

She might really like having her own little place to tuck away into. Maybe a soft sided crate, or a dog teepee, or even just a spot in a closet or behind a piece of furniture. Our 50 pound dog loves squeeze into little dens.

For all the pups who lay with their front feet tucked under, it's from the cats they're with batting and biting at their feet. Our pupper Rexy used to lay the same way from our cats doing that to him, it was a protective posture. Sorry I don't think I have a picture of that pose, he passed a few years ago.
