Dog Visits Dying Owner In Hospital To Say The Final Goodbye

When a 33-year-old Ryan Jessen suddenly passed away from brain hemorrhage last month, hospital staff showed a very unexpected gesture. “The hospital did the sweetest thing for us and allowed us to bring my brother’s dog in to ‘say goodbye’ so she’d know why her human never came home. If you knew my brother, he really loved his sweet dog,” Ryan’s sister Michelle wrote on her Facebook page.

While the video capturing the tender moment between Ryan and his dog Molly was intended for the family circle, it got a response from all over the world. “We are sincerely touched and humbled by others’ stories, their sharing in our sadness and the kindness of so many people,” Michelle writes.

Ryan’s sister was quick to reassure that Molly the grieving dog is in good hands: “Don’t worry about the dog! We’re keeping her!!! She’s part of the family.” Michelle also added that Ryan’s donor heart is about to save the life of a 17-year-old, just in time for Christmas

I am so happy to see that Molly got to see Ryan before the end. It's sooooooooooo sad . Pets do not understand so they would go wondering forever . I also firmly believe in a case like this or knowing the outcome was terminal , The hospital's Policy should be to allow your pet . Even if they have to supply a private room .After all it's the end of a human beings life.

I agree w you, but I do believe your pets know that you're ill. But, having a personal goodbye brings closure to everyone.

Animals know when a person is dying; they can smell something. Cats have been used for that purpose. This dog knew. What a kind hospital staff!

The fact that this article is upvoted to the top, officially puts "Bored Panda" right next to "Examiner", "Daily Mail" and other trashy yellow press out there. No surprise, really, just mild disappointment.

Only in our society one would feel no shame at all in posting a pic of their dying brother, who obviously couldn't give consent to this, just to talk about how the dog would recover after losing her owner. This is so disrespectful that I have no words.
