I don't have a problem with the consumption of meat. I have a problem with the mistreatment of animals raised for meat.

They believe animals that die in the midst of horrific pain release adrenaline in the meat, which tenderizes it. I will spare you more detailed information, but it is easily found on the internet. At least in the US, animals raised for slaughter must be stunned before being killed and there are efforts to make the process as humane as possible.

Humans have had a very close bond with humans, for well over 40,000 years. Basically, dogs are children with four legs. They even think, and act as we do. Dogs are extra special.

I agree, It depends on the country you are from. For example, I eat beef and think nothing of it but someone in India would be horrified. I have a hamster and my sister has a rabbit, and I'm sure many people in the world think its a huge waste that we don't eat those animals.

I've always found it so bizarre that people can be 'animal lovers' and feel compassion and all that, yet discuss it while eating a burger. To each their own, I guess. I can't. I can't imagine looking at something and going "I don't need to eat you to be healthy because I have easily accessible alternatives everywhere I go because I live in a western country, but I am choosing to to kill and eat you anyway". My own personal conscience just can't justify it.

From people who always talks big like you, I'm still waiting proofs that any meat animal you nominated (pigs, chickens and cows), can be able to do what dogs are also used to with their capacities and uniqueness : they feel your feelings and your intentions, they can alert you when you're going to have a seizure or smell if you have any bad disease or even pregnancy, they understand what it fair and unfair, feel your fear or your pain and sympathize with them, they understand your priorities, they are used to smell drugs in airports, explosives (even in war grounds, mines and such), dangerous foods, electronics that could contain pedo-pornographical material, they are used as therapy for sick people and kids or people with mental and physical disabilities (autism, alzheimer, seizures, anxiety problems). They hunted with our ancestors for food and helped us to be where we are now.
