Mark Twain said that humans are the only truly evil species because we have the propensity to choose between good and evil, and many of us choose evil. Animals just follow what they’re taught or their instincts.

We're still animals, with primitive instincts, even though we have progressed further than others. We still have a long way to go too. In the meantime, pretty soon science will deliver on genetically modified meats that are grown in labs. Now, if we could only find a way to keep from killing each other.

People are always like "If you aren't vegan, you're a monster and should be killed!" but a lot of people can't even be vegetarian because of things like sensory processing disorder and nut allergies.

That's because "good" people everywhere do not give a damn about animal suffering. If the majority of people pressure the governments, authorities, this would not be happening. And do not forget: human rights, justice are unachievable without animal rights - their rights to be treated humanely and with respect.

And of course there are some people who think it just "looks cool". My sister and I "rehomed" a neighbor's dog because he abused and neglected the poor dog, including cropping its ears and tails.

I agree with you Mad; sadly it will never happen, because of greed. There's a lot of money involved in animal abuse. Only when good, decent people, many of them, will speak out for animals and pressure politicians to act. Animal activists need a lot of help, it's not easy to sell compassion and fight corruption and greed.

I adopted a puppy that was half cocker spaniel. Even as a puppy she showed signs of the rage syndrome and when she was older would randomly and unprovokedly viciously bite. After she bit all the way through my nose my parents took her. She died at age 22. She bit through a girl's thumbnail once, for no reason.

"Anyone who has no feelings for animals has a dead heart." This is the only reason why humanity is self-destructing, nothing else.

That's kind of part of the problem, isn't it? Cruelty always breeds new cruelty, and the death penalty makes things only worse and the power dynamics between humans only more grave and inescapable.
