Häagen-Dazs Ice Cream Lid Is Actually A Perfect 72mm Lens Cap

Most of us see ice cream as a way to fill our stomachs, but, as it turns out, it may also be used to protect your photography gear! One Japanese photographer has discovered that some of Häagen-Dazs ice cream container lids are perfect for 72 mm lenses. And, as his other colleagues have tested, the brand of the camera is not really important – it suits them all.

We are often taught to think of ways to recycle or reuse things to help the environment. But this discovery proves that it can also benefit your sweet tooth!

Cut out a cool shape (heart, star, bird, smiley, cactus, etc.) in the middle, and you've got yourself an awesome filter for a cool bokeh effect.

LOL! I should have see this earlier before I made a bottle cap lens cap for my Leica L39 50mm, custom acrylic cap for my Sigma fisheye, and a BMW logo cap for a Russian lens.

Big mistake, Nikon should be mentioned first, and Canon on 3rd place.

...Remove the label, paint it black. Or you can sand the inside until it's very thin, then put some holes on it for a filter effect.

Spray some WD-40 on that label and it will slide off, slicker 'n snot on a doorknob, and won't look as "Bubba". My 2¢...
