yeah. a few weeks ago we actually had to act out a lockdown drill(not an actual lockdown, just practice). im a student, and during that drill, i was in the worst place possible. it is truly upsetting that we have to do this.

I wasn’t taught with a rhyme, but yes, US schoolchildren are taught what to do in lockdown/shooter events. Lock the door, turn off the lights, put paper over the windows, stay quiet, there might be a bucket if you need it. If someone knocks, don’t open the door. We practice this in every grade. Technically lockdowns are more than just shootings (coyote on campus, burglary down the street), but armed shooters are what everyone is thinking of and what the protocols are geared towards.

That's what happens when the NRA gives so much money to our s****y politicians. As along as the Republicans keep making millions, they don't care how many kids die.

Sadly, yes. I work at a tutoring center, and it makes me want to cry when 6 and 7 year olds come in saying how they did a lock down drill and tell me they are scared of getting shot at school. Vote out every legislator that won't solve this problem!

This particular song is not widespread, however all school children do regularly participate in lockdown drills. The teachers of very young children have taken various approaches to get their students to cooperate while trying not to frightening them.

it's a good set of skills to know, because unfortunately, our country refuses to do anything about the guns themselves. I see people reacting to mass shootings, saying things like "this needs to stop!!", then they turn right around and claim that having stricter gun laws is a violation of their human rights. 🙄 As far as I'm concerned, having to be taught how to not die in a school shooting is a violation of human rights. And a violation of the right to LIVE.

About five years ago I went through a staff training in case some heavily-armed whack job came into our workplace. It was a small-animal veterinary clinic.

It is now. I didn’t deal with it in school, but my niece and nephew do and it’s a normal drill. Guns > kids in US logic

You do what you have to do. We have lockdown drills every year, some districts have them more often. But we have to do it because it can happen, because our government won't enact some real forking gun laws.

It was never a big deal 20 years ago while I was in elementary, I lived in a safer area though. The were just worried about intruders, mainly unauthorized parents. The only drill was if they called the ex principal over the intercom to the office that was code to basically do what it says to do there.

Yes, this is much superior for the NRA than to ban guns. We don't want to infringe on gun lovers right to bear arms over the safety of children... Most of these kinds of people only care about fetuses but once they are born ...not so much.

same here in Canada! We usually have lockdown drills from time to time, but if a shooter did break into the school, we would all die because of stupid Instasarha, who basically uses her phone as life support.

I like the idea that it prepares kids for a shooting IF it ever were to happen. Its catchy so that kids can remember it. The last part is disturbing though.

It was most likely for a younger class. As a proud American, this is the best way to teach to a young child. We had to hide for real shootings, and it's scary. This also helps the kids stay calm and not panic too much.

That's no different than being taught or learning on your own to type "What the actual f....?" It makes no actual sense and just shows that YOU only learn from copying what others do. Typical follower.
