BULL-S**T. The atrocities by the Nazis were done by individuals who looked their victims in the face before shoving them into gas chambers and activating them. It wasn't the government who waited until the screams ended, before venting the chamber, removing the bodies of people who had died in agony, and then doing it again. It wasn't the government who then went back to a nice little house with a garden, had a pleasant meal with family. The government can be blamed for the atom bomb, since none of the people involved actually observed the effects first hand. I get irrational bouts of anger, disgust, and cynicism - not only from holocaust documentaries but from WW1 docus, too, and from watching the news, and from hearing people defend a leader invading another country (killing thousands, of course) because "he felt threatened and had to make a point", and so many other things that on the whole it's better for me to avoid the news and keep the docus to a minimum.

We can still feel compassion with the dead, injured and deeply altered people who have suffered under the bomb. Especially with a child who had nothing to do with any of the doings of adults.
