It might not be the first thing you notice when watching animation, but voice acting always plays a huge part in making the movie or series interesting as well as believable. When done by professionals who pay attention to every detail, voiceovers can make us truly connect with the characters on the screen.

You may have wondered what famous actors will voice characters in an upcoming movie, but have you ever thought about the similarities between the actor and the character looks-wise? This artist named Crystal Ro has not only thought about that, but also created 8 illustrations imagining famous Disney characters as the voice actors behind them.

At times Disney did model the animated characters after the actor playing them. They do have a pattern of creating the voice sound parts before the actual animation begins.

The artist, Crystal, was born in New Hampshire. As it says on her website, “Crystal attended the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and now lives in Los Angeles where you can usually find her bothering her cat Peggy.” Her humorous articles and drawings have been published in many popular online magazines. "I've written and drawn about everything from period problems to Baby Yoda as Disney princesses," Crystal told Bored Panda.

We asked Crystal how she chose which Disney characters to illustrate. The artist replied that she simply picked the ones that were 3D: “I figured it would be easier to make them look more realistic and blend better with their real-life counterparts, compared to the 2D/traditionally drawn characters”. Crystal admitted that this series of Disney characters as their voice actors were a little more time-consuming than her normal comics because there's more refined Photoshop work involved. “I get particularly invested in drawing hair strands,” she shared.

When it comes to her creative process, Crystal says: “I'm ashamed to admit I don't actually have a regular practice or workflow (I probably should though). Inspiration strikes me at random times throughout the day and it's often something from the zeitgeist. I will say, though, that once I do come up with an idea for an illustration, I generally sketch it out on a notepad, or if I'm already at my computer, just start working it out in Photoshop. And, from there, I just refine the drawing over my original sketch. You can actually see some process videos on my Instagram page!”

Other than this series of Disney characters as their voice actors, Crystal has made quite a lot of comics in different styles. Bored Panda has also posted about one of her other series where she decided to mash up two of the people's favorite things—Baby Yoda and Disney Princesses. These hilarious pictures have been going around the internet and people loved them. As for her future, Crystal told us: "For now, I plan on continuing to make comics. Maybe there's a book of my own in the future someday, too. Who knows!"
