I'm all for breast feeding, but I am not even comfortable in a low cut shirt let along showing off so much side boob. I wore a muslin cloth to cover up for my own stress level.

I agree, Jessica that the blanket is not Necessary. But I don't agree that the blanket is stupid. There is no shame in using a blanket and there is no shame in not using one. Each mom should do what they feel most comfortable with, and should not feel pressured cover up or be uncovered. It's a personal choice that no one should need to defend.

Maybe it's too sunny for the baby's eyes. Or maybe she prefers to not have her breast exposed. Don't judge.

Here we go.. I'm so sick of people telling moms how they should feed their children and how they should feel about it. Jessica, just cuz you're comfortable whipping it out no holds bar (and likely do so even when the kid ain't hungry cuz... some dumbass reason) but not everyone feels that way. To have her cover herself is in keeping with her character.. It's women like you that give breastfeeding a bad rep.

Blanket also may not be for mother but for child. Some babies can't eat, if there's too much stimulus around.

Well she could just be blocking the sun from the babe, or trting to get it to sleep. I know when I was a baby my mom had to cover my eyes and I would be out like a light especially after eating :)

I feel like it's not unnecessary. There's nothing wrong with a woman breastfeeding when it's needed but maybe she just wanted some modesty. I would.

Why? Because she is respecting any passerby while attending to the basic needs of her baby? Let me guess, she should drop the cover and it should be the passerby who has to drop his/her head or look elsewhere. Because of course (s)he is the monster if (s)he dares being uncomfortable with this imposed to his/her eyes. Having the blanket is called mutual respect: you cover yourself while other people continue to look wherever they please like nothing is happening.
