Artist Shows What 10 Disney Princesses Would Look Like With Realistic Proportions

Holly Fae was simply chilling on her bed when a sudden thought came to her mind: she should re-create Elsa the Disney princess. Fae immediately picked up her iPad and opened up Procreate, giving the beloved Frozen character a new twist. You see, instead of transforming Elsa’s appearance into something new and surprising, Fae opted for a more… familiar look. She tried to reimagine what the princess would look like with more realistic proportions. After completing her work, Fae shared the piece on TikTok, and voila… it instantly went viral.

The success of the video inspired her to make a whole series where she asks followers to choose the character for the next portrait. Since then, she has really been going at it, giving makeovers to Belle, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Moana, and more. Continue scrolling and get your daily dose of Disney!

“From the time I was a little girl, I was deeply fascinated by all things magical, fairies, mermaids, dragons, and more!” Holly wrote on her ETSY page, where the artist sells cool prints, accessories, and clothing.

“I have also loved to draw, paint, and a craft for as long as I can remember, and now I would like to make things that can bring joy, wonder, and a little bit of magic to everyone else.”

“I love Disney movies, they were a huge influence while I was growing up,” Holly told Bored Panda, adding that she would often draw Disney characters, especially Ariel and Jasmine.

The artist had been making silly and fun videos on TikTok, and was actually planning to transform an image of Elsa into a meme, when she realized just how big her eyes were. “I got very curious to see what she might look like with proportions similar to the classic 2D princesses, so I started transforming and recording the process,” she said. “Before I knew it, the video had gone viral and people were requesting other princesses, so it just turned into a fun project from there!”

Holly hopes that people understand the whole series is just for fun. “I’m not making a commentary on Disney proportions, I’m just doing it out of curiosity and a desire to bring some fun to people’s day!” she said. “The initial Elsa video was really on a whim, but since that one, I’ve put a lot of care into each transformation, especially in the case of Moana and Jasmine. I spent lots of time looking at photos of women of their ethnicities because I wanted to get the features right.”

Also, she gets asked often if she can make a tutorial on how she does these makeovers, so she is working on that currently.

“I plan to finish all the Disney princesses, maybe a few other characters, and do other franchises like How to Train your Dragon or even anime characters,” Holly revealed the future of the series. “As of right now, Tiana is next, followed by Mulan and Snow White.”

I wish Disney didn't make their characters so much like caricatures - when they are not the comical sidekicks. Why would you make a princess with a very wide face, disproportionate eyes and a ginormous mouth that puts Julia Roberts to shame? They are not pretty at all. The re-made faces were much better, more like real people, but still idealized enough as it fits a fairy-tale character.

Her versions are so much better than the originals, with their unnaturally huge eyes. The first Disney princesses like Snow White, in my childhood, (I'm 78 btw) by Disney's first artists, were really beautiful, the later artists have, I think, been influenced by Japanese animators.

The most conspicuous change is to the size of the eyes. The re-drawings are probably statiscally the likelier; but there have been some large-eyed actresses. Amanda Seyfried, is the current example.

Can we just leave disney princesses alone please? My childhood magic does not need or want this millennial revisionism. Make new princesses for the new generation, please. That racecar driving tot in the last picture was super adorable and Ralph being the clueless damsel rather than the princess was a fun story change. Nobody needs a brown ariel, any more than a white jasmin or latin mulan, so make new ones and leave the old ones alone.

Disney should make the characters more like this. More realistic for young children instead of cartoon where it blurs reality to them. Almost real people in real situations over cartoons with no consequences.

Awesome. I like the more realistic characters --- but Disney is for kids. Anna reimagined resembles a friend of mine, named Ann. A98A309F-0...c-jpeg.jpg A98A309F-0F0A-4E5B-ACC6-9AF58AAAC593_1_201_a-5f15004c0d02c-jpeg.jpg

She already did! Like, she could go to Disneyworld, slap on an Anna costume, and I wouldn't blink!

Still not realistically proportioned at all. But still cute.

I prefer the originals, they are not so lifelike. They are supposed to be fantasy characters and they are so cute and lovable, they should not be changed.

I think either Merida or Jasmine looks best. Some are just plain ol' creepy though

I feel like Tom from parks and rec. "I've stared at it for 5 hours now!" The girls all look so much more beautiful it makes me want to see a movie with them instead!

They're very nice, but rather bland. The originals are cartoon, they're not meant to be lifelike. You might as well reimagine Tom and Jerry as a real cat and mouse.

these are creative. some of them still do not look too natural but Vanellope is adorable and Moana looks amazing, the artist outdone herself on that one.

... as always, the more realistic ones look much, much better. The Disney-cuteness kinda doesn't get me - it's over the top in a very cheesy way.

Some of these are beautifully done ♥ (Why Flynn though, that's how his nose and jaw looks like), but I think the originals are fine for the children audience.

I like this a lot, it's surprising how much more appealing the characters look once you get rid of those bug eyes.

This artist ruined the magic of Disney Princesses. Vanellope looks easily 30.

whats even the Point about this Article? everyone knows that Female Characters in Disney Cartoon Movies are not looking realistic and thats not even their intention. their Intention is it to make them look cute or lovable for little Children not realistic. if you want Disney Female Characters who looked realistic then watch their Real Film Adoptions and not the Cartoon Movies, for real. and Vanellope looked even worse in the right Pic. i got Nightmares from this look.

This would be great if the videos actually played. Please upload videos instead of embedding them from tiktok. The play button literally does not work. I can mute and unmute it. But the videos don’t play. Tiktok is the worst app I’ve ever heard of. I’m not downloading it just to enjoy an article. But this nonsense is ridiculously irritating. I click on the tiktok button, and I get a 12 year old twerking. Please fix this dumpster fire.

Her versions are so much better than the originals, with their unnaturally huge eyes. The first Disney princesses like Snow White, in my childhood, (I'm 78 btw) by Disney's first artists, were really beautiful, the later artists have, I think, been influenced by Japanese animators.

I like this artists remakes much better than the Disney versions. There is no question that they look more beautiful. BUT, I think the eyes are still unrealistically large in most of them.

The most conspicuous change is to the size of the eyes. The re-drawings are probably statiscally the likelier; but there have been some large-eyed actresses. Amanda Seyfried, is the current example.

They just look better when drawn more realistically. Why did they move to an unrealistic view anyway? Remember Snow White? They filmed an actual woman and then drew that to ensure it looked real. Now we have the opposite, weird!!

Ariel, Belle, Jasmine were already reimagined. So it's a reimagining of reimagined pic. It disappointed me a lot, especially Ariel. But the others look cool

Most of these princesses were pulled from the Disney Princess scene in "Ralph Breaks the Internet," when Vanellope was trying to hide and glitched herself into their studio, and then recreated.

Disney should make the characters more like this. More realistic for young children instead of cartoon where it blurs reality to them. Almost real people in real situations over cartoons with no consequences.

You shouldn't restrict art to reality, especially arts for children. It takes away their imagination.

Sorry to say this but judging by the childish features on the original pictures I'm affraid the animated industries are invaded by pedo. Sad.

Or they have childish features because they're aimed at kids, and kids don't really relate with adults.
