Almost all of us have been stuck in quarantine for the last year. There have been moments when we were happy to have more time for ourselves, our hobbies, and families. There were moments when we were tired, bored, and sick of the four walls we call our home. But have you ever thought about how famous characters would react and what they would do if they were stuck in quarantine? Disney princesses, specifically?

Lorenza Di Sepio and Marco Barretta are Italian artists. They are better known on social media as Simple&Madama. The art duo created a 15-part series where they illustrate our favorite Disney princesses and their activities in quarantine. They told Bored Panda: "We are two Italian cartoonists. Marco Barretta and I started this project in 2012. He was born on the web, but today in Italy he has 9 publications and several issues of a magazine. The idea of the princesses was born with the coining of COVID-19. We imagined what the Disney princesses could be doing in quarantine! In all, we made 15 images, all in live streaming to keep us company with the fans!"

The artists also told us what the goal of their illustrations is: "The main objective is to entertain and make people laugh, telling the life of a couple cleanly and ironically... and more! We cover a little bit of everything, but mainly we talk to kids and couples. We are very keen to do it calmly, and without vulgarity. To create a clean and safe space on social networks."

We have a lot of comics and illustrations about Disney. Here are a few if you're interested. This guy ‘hangs out’ with Disney characters. Or maybe you're more interested in an artist that imagines iconic horror characters in classic Disney’s Mickey Mouse style? Or maybe you would like to see an artist that shows what would happen if Disney had modern technologies?

The artists tell us when they started to create these illustrations and describe their style: "The Simple & Madama project was born in 2012, and I hope to continue for a long time! The drawing style can be defined as kawaii or chibi, Japanese-inspired. After all, we grew up between manga and anime!"

Lorenza and Marco tell us more about what inspires them to keep on creating: "Knowing that with our comics and our characters, many people see each other or themselves in them and at least for a moment we can make their day better. And then we know that we are a great inspiration for many young artists"

Lorenza Di Sepio tells us more about the duo: "I (Lorenza Di Sepio) am a 2D cartoon animator, and I started drawing Simple & Madama a bit for fun. Then I was lucky enough to have a lot of visibility on social networks, and from there were born several publications, including paper, some of which were made together with the photographer Marco Barretta, currently co-author of the project."

"Lorenza Di Sepio: Always with the need to tell stories and draw. She started as self-taught and then worked as a designer in the field of traditional 2D animation. She collaborated in the production of several cartoons, music videos, commercials, and animated series for TV as a character design and storyboard artist, which allowed her to do a lot of practice on storytelling. The 'Simple & Madama' web series was born from there."

"Marco Barretta: Videographer and author, he deepens the study of storytelling as a language of communicator to tell a story, be it made of photographs, videos, or drawings thanks also to his experiences with other cultures, places, and points of view. Engaged in journalistic documentaries, he tackles topics such as climate change, and the relationship between nature and man with the style of constructive journalism."

"Lorenza and Marco collaborate on the 'Simple & Madama' project, comic strips that tell the misadventures of a couple struggling with small daily dramas fictionalized with clean irony. Simple & Madama was initially born online in the form of strips published on the Facebook page and landed in print in 2013. As of 2021 it has 9 publications, a magazine, and several animated series."

"We hope that our irony, perhaps a little too Italian, can arrive and entertain even the readers of Bored Panda, one of the international blogs we love the most!"
