If I understood this article correctly, it's a neural network applied to old photographs and paintings. Presumably it's based on European paintings. I guess it would be more accurate if it was described as "what the guy portrayed in Jesus paintings would look like in real life".

He looks pretty Middle Eastern to me, but people in the Middle east can look anywhere from white to black, probably because it was the center of the world for a while so so many different ethnicity exist in that area, plus it is big. Buy looks close to my husband and his family migrated from that region. Could use bushier eyebrows though. nose looks pretty good though.

Europe spent QUALITY TIME re-imagining Jesus as a Gentile. It's very well documented and it entirely depends on the artist. Roman stuff will look more Mediterranean and as you go north, by the Northern Renaissance the dude could be a member of Abba. It's just the way it is. We all KNOW Jesus was a jew. BUT as the church split the Jews off into the "bad" religion, it didn't serve the church.

Also... obviously you are Clueless to what Sephardi Jews are. Sephardi jews are jews from... umm... Europe (Spain mainly). They left during the inquisition to parts of Africa and other areas.

sephardim are north african, northwest african, andalusian. not middle eastern. jesus genetically was eastern mediterranian not north african. not middle eastern ... more like greek armenian cypriot bulgarian georgian
