Most of us have seen or at least visited some of the world’s most famous historical monuments. It would probably be hard to find a person who doesn’t know what the Eiffel Tower is, or the Statue of Liberty or Christ the Redeemer. But what if, all of a sudden, these historic monuments changed places? For the most part, it would definitely be... very confusing, but it would also be a very interesting sight!

If you’d just like to see what the designers came up with, then think no further and just scroll down!

More info: designcrowd.com | twitter.com | Facebook

Historic monuments placed in various places across the world in ways that almost feel surreal and magical are definitely a sight to behold. The talented members of Designcrowd (a website dedicated to digital art/photo manipulation contests) decided to participate in a photoshop contest where the main challenge was to place historic monuments in unusual places across the planet.

I lived in WDC for 1-1/2 years and one night one of my friends and I bicycled down from The Hill, where we lived, and down the mall. I saw the Lincoln Memorial without anyone else but my friend, and then we rode over to the Jefferson Memorial, circled around the pond, and then rode back to our respective apartments up on The Hill. An absolutely lovely evening 45 years ago.

However, of course, it's definitely not the first time Bored Panda has featured Design Crowd's competitions. If you are as curious as we are, you can go ahead and do your very best checking out their other themed contests such as photoshopped classical paintingsclouds, and even animals as plants. Of course, there are way more themed contests but we linked only the most recent ones for now!

With all of that being said, we also think it's important to see the emotional power of architecture. One only needs to look at some of the world’s famous monuments and memorials to be mesmerized. Therefore, designing these structures is often a challenging proposition. Architects must balance meaning and aesthetics, all while keeping the person or people being memorialized at the center of the design, but can the same be said for the very designers of Design Crowd?

It's up to you to decide, Pandas! Choose your favorite works amongst them all and see if they are worthy to be compared to the original and iconic pieces of art (and their place). We believe that historical monuments are important destinations for locals and travelers alike, but would you prefer to see these monuments in other parts of the world?

Fun Fact: The sculptor of this statue had a family member who was deaf (I no longer remember which one) and he sculpted Abe’s left hand in the form of an A and the right into an L in American Sign Language.

A whole lot of this article doesn't even strike me as "if monuments were somewhere else" as much as "how these places will probably look in the future".

In the fall/winter of 1977, I took my first trip abroad, just winging it on destinations (based on where I had places to stay), so I went out to Salisbury borrowed a bicycle from the woman whose B&B I was staying in, and rode out to Stonehenge. The weather was broody and threatening rain, Stonehenge was not yet enclosed, and I was the only person for miles around. It was one of the most magical days of my life.
