Twitter user Alex Menn shares pictures of abandoned places from all around the world and the images are hauntingly beautiful, to say the least.

They capture the eerie stillness of forgotten factories, temples, amusement parks, and other locations. Some of the sites appear frozen in time, with old machinery and furniture left behind as if the occupants suddenly vanished and never returned. Others show signs of decay and nature slowly reclaiming the structures.

Through these photos, Alex Menn provides a glimpse into the past, provoking our imagination to complete the stories behind these mysterious areas and buildings, and his account is a must-follow for anyone interested in urban exploration and photography.

Houses found deep in forests fascinate me and make me feel uneased at the same time.

Looks like kudzu. Some counties in South Carolina have a full time crew to keep after the kudzu.

They probably didn't have any cures back then, either, since effective medications for mental illness is a very recent development. It was probably always a place of nightmares.

I think this is in Hungary, I can't find where though. I'd love to know more about it.

What is that language on top of the tower? Is it just graffiti of the name of the place?

After being a ruin for most of my adult life (I'm almost 36) it's currently being restored. You can find a couple of live streams of the building at https://cazinoconstanta.ro/ if you're curious about its current status. And a bit of trivia, the last major restoration job was done in the 1950s, during the communist regime, when political prisoners were used for the work. The current restoration project uncovered various notes hidden in the walls by the prisoners, such as farewell messages and lists of names of the people who worked there, in the hope that the messages would be found some day and they would not be forgotten.

It is 1 meter deep and not from viking times, that rock is also fake, made of glasfiber. It is a abandoned viking theme park of some sort, in Iceland. There are more buildings, all in ruins. Sorry.

Parking could be a problem. But, behind the camera, there is parking. Also, but, it is not abandoned, just closed.

I've been here. Its only a little over an hour from me. There are walkways all around to view and learn the history of it.

I remember reading somewhere that the pictures that most people associate with the Titanic are of her sister ship, I believe the Britannic?

Are the photographers taking vases of flowers with them to abandoned places, or just cleaning ones they find? This is the second photo where there are vases that seem relatively clean and out of place.

I don't believe serenity is what I'd feel in that part of the house propped on the cliff.

Long story short, it's been closed since 2011. New owners bought it and finally (after a lot of setbacks) secured financing for improvements. This place will be opened again.

I don't get why we should keep them like that until they rot away, we can reuse the steel and most of the parts :)

Where? It might be the ol' route of the Prairie Dog Central. I remember it went through behind the SuperStore on Grant Ave. and all along behind Centennial Ave. Me and my friends used to hang out on the tracks on occasion and look at the rocks.

This is the Pontiac Silverdome. It was never technically abandoned. The Detroit Lions played there until 2001, but it continued to be used for various events until the roof collapsed during a blizzard in 2013. After determining that it would be too costly to repair, it was demolished in 2017.
