Like photographer Aaron Sheldon has so well portrayed, when you’re a kid, every day is full of adventures and discoveries. So, when his 3-year-old daughter Emma spotted a ‘mysterious’ attic door, Jason Robinson decided to stimulate her curiosity even more and organized an epic treasure quest.

After the creative dad hid a map and a locked box of riches behind the door, he documented the whole mission on Twitter, and the Internet happily went on the scavenger hunt together with the little princess. Let’s join them.

Emma’s original question actually was ‘Why is there a DOOR in the ROOF!?’ And it’s what led to all this. “We placed a treasure box up there, as well as a map to the key that opened it,” Jason told Bored Panda. The dad said there was no way his 3-year-old would’ve missed it. The box was just too sparkly. “When she realized it was a map, she rushed to our front door and pulled us out airside to start looking for the treasure.” The map consisted of familiar spots in the neighborhood to help Emma along her way.

When she finally reached the goal, Emma couldn’t be happier. “She was thrilled by the necklace — the next morning, she put it on first thing when she woke up — but in some ways I think she was more captivated by the discovery and the puzzle than by the treasure itself,” Jason said.

“I’m not planning to tell her [that we’ve simply been keeping an old roll of carpeting up there], at least not till she’s grown up,” Jason added. “She may figure it out on her own, but I think it’s important to just… let the mystery soak in.”

Oh, and in case you thought you’ve heard snippets of Portuguese in the video clips, you’re right! Emma is bilingual and speaks English and Portuguese (her Mamãe is from Brazil).

Jason couldn’t believe his thread has become so viral

Keep giving her those moments of wonder and amazement. It's what turns kids into imaginative powerhouses that create some of the most unbelievable things the world has ever seen. I can't wait to see what this little girl becomes when she grows up. But for now...being a princess and a good finder is just right.

Thank you BP for posting a feel good story like this one! I enjoy the "pandemic" "isolation" "quarantine" cartoons and drawings, even a few tweets/posts/pictures of the madness that people are seeing outside; however, this pure, unadulterated wonder and happiness of this 3 y/o just made my day! <3
