I Recreate My Late Father’s Photos To Reconnect And Accept His Passing

I came to Melbourne, Australia to study and found a unique way to reconnect with my father and also to accept his passing.

February 14th this year will mark my dad’s 3 years of passing away. It’s ‘sort of’ better each year… I still miss him a lot and very much, but over the years I just get better at getting out of the mourning hole. Recently I realized I have never got the time to let my dad’s passing to sink in and I never paid tribute to him properly. So I decided to pay a visit to the back and opened the drawer and pulled out few memories of my dad.

I just want you to say that I love your idea. My father died 14 years ago and I remember him every day, but just a few moments because they would like to go on with our life for sure. Sorry for your lost and be strong!

Thank you! Glad you loved the idea~ I truly understand what you mean by saying that our fathers would like us to go on with our life. And that's exactly what I did. I right away shove his passing to the side and left it. But I never took time to let it sink in, and this is my effort to take time to let it sink. A little late but.. Better than never. I hope you stay strong too! <3

I seriously doubt her father took pictures in black and white...

Yes I edited the color of my father's photo. It was a choice. Just to emphasize his passing away and to differentiate it from my own photo. That is all :)

Dear Chrisya, this is a really lovely idea and you have made a great representation of what was obviously an important experience for your dad when he visited. He would be so proud of you, and so touched that this has such significance for you. You are a beautiful young woman, and obviously strong too, hold those treasured memories in your heart, Lisa, New Zealand.

The moment I saw this my heart fluttered, because I realized that this is exactly what I want to do to help me mourn my father in a positive way (unfortunately I have done a whole lot of detrimental things to myself in my grief!) .I lost my father 5 years ago, but his loss has not gotten one ounce easier for me, even with the passage of time. Thank you for sharing this, I am truly inspired.

This is sooo beuatiful! I like photos that are taken on the same location but at different times! More to that, you have created an incredible memory lane to remember him knowing that stood on those exact same spots! Sorry for your loss! I lost mine 4 years ago and have barely any photos of him. I miss him dearly.

Hi Celine :") sorry to have made you cry. But I'm glad my story touches you in a way. I wouldn't say I've fully moved on, this project is one way for me to heal actually. Still on process, I hope both of us grow stronger each day. Love from Indonesia

I lost my dad 6 months ago... am trying to get it to "sink in"... strangely, tonight I am sleeping in his bed in the guest room he lived in with us, when I saw your post. As everyone, I have regrets and trying to cope... your post gives me ideas and hope to console myself.
