Dash Of Beauty Around The Indian Institute Of Engineering Science & Technology, Howrah, India

This is a collection of pictures I had clicked around my university campus. The Indian Institute of Engineering Science & Technology, Howrah (formerly BESU) is a pioneering engineering institute of India. It flaunts a whole lot of natural beauty in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the twin cities of Howrah and Kolkata, which sets it apart from the other universities in the vicinity. These photographs give a little insight into the beauty around this Indian university.

Clock tower of IIEST, Howrah,India

Like many other structures built by the British in and around Kolkata, the Clock tower of IIEST, Howrah still stands tall today as a manifestation of the engineering marvels of the powerful British Raj.

By the side of the Bidisha lake…

These trees bursts into facades of yellow every spring around the fabled Bidisha lake. The Clock tower stands by the side of the lake.

Reflections of the Bidisha

The Bidisha lake is serene and peaceful especially in the early morning. For an early riser, it is a treat for the eyes and soul.

Leaning over

A lifeless tree leans over the Bidisha lake with the reflection of the New Administrative Building in the backdrop.

Going for a ride

A rickshaw puller rides across the campus… The campus is vast and walking around can be quite a task in the hot and sultry summers.

Mahagony Marg

This whole stretch of road is lined mostly by mahagony trees. Unlike most evergreen trees in the tropics, these mahagony trees shed their leaves in late winter giving an autumn feel when you walk along this path. Its early spring and leaves have started sprouting forth new leaves.

An abandoned kite by the roadside.I wonder who the owner might be…

Meanwhile inside the Oval Ground

I could not identify which species these birds belong to. But these birds can be seen around the IIEST campus, especially early in the morning inside the Oval Ground and even during the day, when there are no people playing football inside the Oval.

When the sun rises on Oval Ground

One misty morning, I woke up at 5 AM in the morning and saw white specks dotting the Oval Ground. These white specks are the same birds in the picture above. I did minimal editing on this picture to retain the misty effect.

Colours of the night

The Bidisha reflects colours and mysticism when night falls on the university.
