Scrolling through hundreds of sloth pictures, we've concluded that sloths are undeniably cute, but did you know that there are more incredibly amazing sloth facts than that?
For instance, since sloths mainly live in trees, and being clean animals, they never poop where they live. This means that the sloth has to climb down the tree to poop and does so only once a week. As slow as they are on the ground, these animals are superb swimmers and can hold their breath for up to 40 minutes underwater. Oh, and if they're not eaten by a snake, jaguar or an eagle, they can live for around 40 years. And in those years of slow life, they grow many forms of algae in their fur, which basically makes them a moving buffet for other animals. And lastly, sloth babies learn what is edible by licking it's moms lips for a taste. Isn't that amazing?
Since sloths are such fascinating creatures, we've decided to put together a beautiful compilation of cute sloth photos. From baby lazies to sleepy green cuties hanging from branches, we've included the most representative pictures of sloths into our list. My brain tells me that they are not really smiling and that their faces are just built this way. But my heart goes SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3
I wonder why do many of these are captured animals and not in their natural habitat? Are most of them rescued or is this a breeding center?
I think a lot would be rescue. The parents try to cross roads etc and many babies are left orphaned. The sad reality of a slow moving animal as we take over their habitats
