My Two Cute Troublemakers Odin And Frigga

Odin and Frigga are an interesting little pair. They’re my pet domesticated red foxes! Odin, the white marble, is a sweet little cuddle monster who loves to get into mischief, to say the least. He was bought from a licensed breeder and has been living with me for a couple of months now. Frigga, the silver kit, was born on our farm by her two parents, Pepper and Templeton. She’s a sweetheart, but don’t take her stuffed monkey!

Every day starts off with the kits pouncing all over me, yipping for food. During the walks we get some funny looks and people asking lots of questions! Odin and Frigga both love the attention, and they welcome other peoples’ dogs with excited foxy noises and tail wagging.

Odin and Frigga are my domesticated red foxes

Even though they’re almost too cute to handle, owning foxes is a huge responsibility, as well as a wonderful experience

They’re a lot of work, especially when you own five

They can be destructive, smelly, and loud

But if you have time, patience, and a lot of love, they will love you back their whole lives

These foxes have imprinted on me, so they see me as their best friend

They can get on my nerves sometimes, but it’s all worth it in the end

These two will imprint on each other and stay best friends forever,  without the other, one would surely be heartbroken

Foxes have basically given me a reason not to sleep all day

They’ve given me the motivation to take care of them as well as myself

P.S.: Remember that foxes are not legal everywhere, so if you’re considering taking one in, be sure to do your research!

They are so cute. But keeping foxes are illegal and people should not just keep wild animals just because they are cute. :p

Actually, it is only illegal in some places! Where I live, no permit is needed to own pet foxes unless the fox is a standard red or gray fox, because they are considered a nuisance. These animals are domesticated after more than 100 years, and my foxes' ancestors go back thousands of generations in captivity. They're not wild, but they can be a handful sometimes!

I really don't care about what all these people is saying, if you keep them safe and with responsibility is good enough. They don't realize that dogs, cats, horses, cows, pigs, etc were wild too. And I bet they own cats, or dogs, or ride horses or eat meat...so they should better thing about their actions.

I wish I could have a pair of fox kits also! I have always loved animals and was not allowed to have pets when I lived at home with my parents (for very good reasons)but after I married I had a cat because my spouse did not want to have to take care of an animal.

I would make a similar choice, Elaine Frank. Cats are fairly low maintenance and their personalities vary. They also have an independent streak that can make them seem a bit wild, plus most cats do a great job of keeping mice out of the home. :)

Ol Roy is probably the worse dog food that you could ever feed your fur baby's. They had a Recall not too long ago on their treats too.

What adorable little critters. I honestly didn't know foxes could be domesticated this way. I'm glad they bring you such joy. Obviously they are quite happy!

Did they "take one in?" Or are they breeding them to sell?

Absolutely disgusted by the ignorance of people like you. Yeah they might be domesticated but people like you keep this happening. Foxes are wild animals and should stay that way. If you realize this and stop purchasing them the breeding will stop and no more new breeders will pop up. I think this is selfish and irresponsible behavior simply because you want a different pet than others have. Same goes for the people that have those hybrid wolves.. You say you love animals but in fact you love it more to satisfy your own sick need to have something different more.

So, no one should own dogs? They were once wild too. So were cats and I'm sure horses. If we go back far enough, we'd probably find that all of our so-called 'domesticated' animals were once wild. Foxes have been domesticated for 100s of years. No more "selfish" than having a dog
