Times change. Trends come and go. But what stays fairly consistent is older generations’ criticism of younger people’s behavior. However, some trends are so questionable that they draw the ire of folks no matter what generation they’re from.
Redditor Imaginary_Eye3804 recently sparked an interesting discussion on the popular r/AskReddit online group. Everyone opened up about the current trends that they personally believe are embarrassing and should go away ASAP. Scroll down to read their opinions.

Gender reveals. Complete and utter b******t.
Blue smoke - it's a boy! Pink smoke - it's a girl! Black smoke... the Pope died?
I don't see the harm in a little lunch with a colored icing cup cake or something. I think they are silly but harmless. But I draw the line at any reveal idea that releases anything into the environment there's all the fires, plus the a*****e who used dye on a water fall and contaminated a towns water in Brazil. Outrageous
Pointless waste of time and often times people cause environmental damage due to their stupid ideas.
I may have dodged this bullet. I'm retired / 60s. When me and my circles were young and having kids, these gender parties were not a thing. Now they seem to have peaked and are waning a bit and my friends and most of my friend's kids are done having babies. I'll probably be able to go to my grave without being invited to this cringe.
I never understood gender reveals or baby showers. In my country, Denmark, you may give a birth-present for the baby and the parents if you wish. But then there's also the baptism/naming ceremony and some people celebrate both baby's first 6 months AND first year. There are plenty of occasions to give parents and baby presents.
Influencers.
I don't get this entire idea. I couldn't care less about your opinions, regarding anything. I've never met you.
The thing is.... influencers have always existed in some form.
i mean im not really a fan of influencers, but they aren’t new. we can see people like Ziryab who were influencers almost two thousand years ago
Stop caring about what other people think, and you will be much happier!
People normalizing the word trauma and using it for stupid things. Someone seriously told me they were traumatized because their waiter brought them the wrong food. I get that trauma is *very* subjective, but come on now. And they were dead serious. They really thought that's what trauma is.
And the misuse of the word "trigger" to criticise anything they don't like. I don't know what "triggers" you and I don't give a f**k, either. If something complete normal and harmless "triggers" you, get therapy or stay at home.
Load More Replies...misuse of trauma ptsd adhd being on the spectrum mental health disorders "normalizing" "the new normal" and just straight up having zero idea wtf they're talking about. it just makes them look ridiculous and it's frustrating to those that actually have been severely traumatized. you want to hear about some trauma? i'll tell you about some trauma...
When a word is overused, especially for trivial things, it loses its meaning and significance.
If the waiter brought out a flaming pile of nuclear poop and hit you in the face with it I'll allow that as trauma
I've been subject to both (complex) trauma and gaslighting. It has the potential ruin your life. Or at the least have a very damaging impact. You having a really busy day at work, does NOT constitute "trauma". You. Have. No. Idea.
I work for a rental company and we had to let a girl out of her lease because she could hear her male neighbor speaking (not yelling or swearing) and it was "traumatic and triggering for her". I wonder how she gets through a day without collapsing into a pile of tears
Just because you don't like something, it doesn't mean you have been subject to triggera and are suffering from trauma. People do not understand the meaning of the word. Something thatbis "upsetting" is not trauma. Something that makes you feel uncomfortable is not trauma. Trauma stays will you for a lifetime and will make you relive the pain. It will haunt you in your sleep and when you are trying to enjoy life. There are triggers that make you uncomfortable or sad. Then there are triggers that take you back to a place that no one wants to go.
I think this is partly the long-term effect of TV, especially soaps as in my (50s) lifetime there's been big increase in people exaggerating to get a reaction.
I don't know why this got a downvote because it's about desensitisation - the more people are exposed to something (like the term 'trauma') the less of an impact it has. TV, movies and social media do that a lot - expose people people to things and terms they might never have heard of otherwise. So while in the past 'trauma' might refer to physical abuse, today people use it to describe everything from an accident to (as OP says) idiotic c**p like not getting the right food. The definition has changed (albeit stupidly) based on what people think it means and that is often based on what they see in the media. So I'm agreeing with this one.
Load More Replies..."Social anxiety" is also BS. There is an Eagles song abo0ut this. "Get Over It"
Trends are simply popular patterns of behavior. We might think we’re good at resisting them, but most of us feel at least some pressure to conform to social norms. To put it simply, human beings are social creatures. We’re hardwired to cooperate with others, and we place an enormous amount of value on reputation, acceptance, and admiration. We want to feel like we belong!
So, when more and more people around us begin behaving a certain way, we feel an urge to follow suit. This can be related to anything, whether that’s becoming a streamer, starting a podcast, trying to be a social media star, creating memes, etc. Some people are more susceptible to this pressure. Others have a firm understanding of their own values, so they feel more comfortable pushing back against social pressure.
The words “toxic” “gaslight” and “narcissist “ have turned into slang and it minimizes the seriousness of the actual words.
The problem is toxic narcissist behaviour is getting more and more common. Attitudes totally frowned upon some years ago seem to be so widespread now!
Look up narcissistic personality disorder please. DSM V. What lay people mean when they use this word is "selfish." Selfish behavior is becoming more common. This is exactly the misuse of the word we're talking about. Not all selfish a******s are you"narcissists." They're just selfish a******s.
Load More Replies...I may get down voted for this, but misogynist is another one that's thrown around too much. Any time a man does something she disagrees with some women give him that label. I was once accused of it here for saying a meme THAT MADE FUN OF A MAN was funny.
Let's not forget "toxic masculinity". In a lot of peoples eyes just being a man is considered to be that
Load More Replies...Narcissistic personality disorder is a lot more common than some may think. Victims go through hell, but much of the damage is hidden behind closed doors and very insidious. Maybe people are just becoming more aware of these issues and are more willing to talk about it, like domestic violence.
There’s a difference between being self-absorbed (someone who's often called a narcissist) and having narcissistic personality disorder. Experts consider narcissism a trait. On the other hand, NPD is a mental illness. With NPD, a pattern of behavior affects all areas of a person’s life. You can have narcissistic traits but not meet the official criteria for NPD. How common is narcissistic personality disorder? Researchers aren’t sure exactly how many people have NPD. Part of the reason is many hide their narcissistic thoughts or behaviors. Some data suggests that about 0.5%-5% of people in the U.S. might have NPD. Up to 75% of these cases occur in people assigned male at birth (AMAB). A recent study at Ohio State University says many people readily admit to being a narcissist. But while narcissism may be common, narcissistic personality disorder is rare. https://www.webmd.com/mental-health/narcissistic-personality-disorder
Load More Replies...We've lived with "depressed" and "OCD" getting thrown around for years. I think "toxic" can be used more often - it's not like it's a diagnosis. And half the people using "gaslight" have no idea what it means.
I'm not saying some words haven't been misused, but if you've experienced true narcissistic behavior from a loved one, you learn to spot it a mile away.
Pranks that should get someone’s a*s kicked in because it isn’t funny.
Pranks in general. Most of them involve laughing at someone's misfortune that you (prankster) caused.
some pranks are funny. pranks are only pranks if both parties are laughing after the joke.
Load More Replies...A prank is sticking a funny picture on my coworker's phone that she couldn't see until she picked up the receiver. What passes as a "prank" these days is more like those hidden camera shows where they try to humiliate people. That's NOT funny.
Oh I REALLY hate this one. Peanks are not funny because they are based on humiliating and embarrassing their targets. What kind of works do we want to live in?
Not always. a good prank can be hilarious for both parties. IE: my nephew is a huge Hamilton fan. I bought him a hoodie that looks like Hamiltons outfit. I wrapped it in a ziplock and coated that in expando foam inside a gift box for his birthday. He had to do some pretty intense hacking to get through the foam, but as soon as he saw his prize he was over the moon excited. It's now one of his favorite gifts to talk about.
Load More Replies...And seem to be primarily carried out by males who never mentally progressed beyond 4th grade.
A lot (all?) of the practical joke shows are scripted. And before you shout "no way, it's real!," most "reality" type shows are scripted. They have to be, because in reality, reality isn't that interesting 24/7. The "control room" and "punishment/loser" stuff is filmed separately. There are often several takes of a "reaction." The shows will need legal permission from the people they are playing pranks on to show them on TV. None of it is as "gotcha!" as you'd like to think, that's why the people who film practical jokes without realizing in the professional shows, the "victim" is in on it do get their asses beat. Those are the videos you see of some stupid guy with 2 black eyes & a busted lip, being dragged away by the cops, wondering where it all went wrong.
A lot of the prank stuff is still a surprise to the person. But after the prank they're asked to give permission, not before.
Load More Replies...A good prank is one where everyone laughs at the end. It's not supposed to humiliate or demean someone. The people who do that and think its funny are messed up and give us fun pranksters a bad name. Wanna see some awesome pranks? Check out Improv Everywhere! They do some amazing things!
The worst are the horrible "mommy and daddy" bloggers that play really nasty pranks on their young kids for laughs. The poor kids usually end up crying or in shock-- it's really disgusting.
The whole homesteading trad wife thing thats super trendy is so weird. "i am subservient to my husband, i hate feminism, i only wear cotton dresses, i dont have opinions that my husband doesnt share, i use beef fat as moisturizer, heres my $4000 stove that looks like its from colonial america, buy my online sourdough recipe course and learn how to be a traditional wife" and it always follows this guilt-shamy approach to women who dont want to or cant do the same. its mostly cringey because women are acting like this is how they've been all their lives but its very obviously just following a trend. women who've actually lived like this arent posting about it all over the internet i cook for my boyfriend, ill do his laundry, i want children, im a catholic, i bake bread, its not abnormal for women to want to follow this lifestyle of being traditional but the weird anti-feminism super privileged aesthetic thats following it is just so cringe. feminism is the reason that i have the choice to do or not do these things, feminism is the reason you can post about it on the internet. you can be a "traditional" wife but dont degrade your entire sex in the process.
I am blussfully ignorant of this phenomenon, but from what I've gathered it is all a sham. They are just a new type influencers who advertise products, all while displaying a superiority complex. Gardening is great, baking is great, wearing a dress while birthing a goat...probably fake but you do you. But feeling superior to others because of it is just sad.
Birthing a goat?? Boy, did I get the wrong image in my head
Load More Replies...My wife helps me around the farm. Cotton dresses would get wrecked in about 5 seconds. Get snagged on some barb wire fixing fences, or caked in fertilizer or animal products.
Got that right. Dickies coveralls are the best trad-wives gear for shovelling real b.s.
Load More Replies...I stayed home with my small children. We were lower middle class, but I loved it and knew it would pass so quickly. Then I returned to work. I just wasn't brainwashed into subservience, and had my own opinions.
If you scratch hard enough, you'll find some fundie religion at the bottom of this.
I know which oven you’re referring to and it’s actually $40,000
In this day and age, it’s not just our family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors who impact our decisions. If you’re reading this, you have access to the internet and are probably pretty active on social media.
This means that your opinion on everything and anything—food, fashion, celebs, entertainment, etc.—can be shaped by a wide range of people you might not even have met in person.
The whole concept of "influencers" on social media. Pics and videos of their spotless huge houses, adorable well-behaved kids, cute pets. As if they don't wear Crocs and a messy bun to scoop dog poo off their perfectly manicured lawns. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to bunch my hair into a bun, put on my "dirty work" shoes, and scoop the dog s**t out of my mud pit of a back yard. I'm not going to make a video of it, but I guarantee it would be far more entertaining (and contain a lot more profanity) than any influencer video.
No one is required to pay one second of attention to any influencer.
That doesn't mean they're not allowed to dislike it
Load More Replies...They are only influencers because people let them be, start thinking for yourselves people!
This needs to be MUCH higher. They're only in it for the money and perks.
I wish this were true, but the fact is there's a new crop of them popping up everyday. Someone Will watch them. They Will influence others, generally the vulnerable.
Load More Replies...We’re suckers. We elevated the opinions of celebrities, bought the products they endorsed and put them on pedestals. We’re so obsessed with celebrity in this world that we now have people who are famous for being famous. They’ve never done anything of value including entertain. It’s a gross joke but we’ve played it on ourselves.
Nope I blame the media Barons. It does not matter which channel you watch the same c**p comes up in the news and talk shows. Then a whole bunch of people who don't like quiet ignore it but leave it playing while they are cooking, cleaning, doing homework, whatever and a bunch of false data has the media thinking the viewers care about stuff we simply do not.
Load More Replies...If everybody would quit watching these so called influences, they would all disappear.
I’m bipolar, diagnosed and medicated. Whenever it comes up someone in earshot will say “me too! I’m so moody.” Like guy, do you climb the walls at 3 AM? Do you laugh one minute and cry the next? Do you stay in bed for weeks? Get out of here with that trendy b******t.
You shout out “Me too!” In response to a post about someone complaining about people shouting out “Me too!”. I believe this qualifies as irony
Load More Replies...Same with OCD. People use it to describe themselves being extra picky or clean, and in reality, OCD is pure and utter hell to have or live with.
I have OCD, diagnosed by doctor who specialized in OCD. My friend had to drag me there. I thought I just had little "counting things" and a few other things. But there was one thing that I didn't realize was OCD. I just thought it was some weird thing that I did. That was why my friend dragged me to the specialist. When I told doctor about my particular "weird thing" he thought for a moment, and he said he had never heard of such a thing before, but he confidently said that that was OCD. I'm not going to describe what the weird thing is, because it would take too much time. So yeah, I get annoyed when someone uses the OCD label for something so normal as wanting all the pictures straight on the wall. And yes, Alicia is correct, it is utter hell to live with.
Load More Replies...It reminds me of the autism trend...apparently everyone is autistic now. My husband was diagnosed years ago and his daughter was too at age 3, and it isn't just stimming and spacing out...there is a lot of tough outbursts and emotions to deal with and it irks mean when people say "omg sorry my autism is acting up" or something of that sort
When someone says "me too" just ask them if they have I, II, or old school Cyclothymia. Then ask them what meds they find help them the most. Watch them choke like a terrible contestant in Final Jeopardy.
While I am very happy that people are finding it easier to discuss mental health issues, it should never be 'trendy'. ADHD is NOT a trend. Autism is NOT a trend. Depression is NOT a trend. Social Anxiety is NOT a trend. [insert whatever your diagnosis is here] is NOT a trend. I've been living with ADHD my entire life. First, there were all the years I was told I was lazy, not motivated, just 'try harder', no one likes you cause you're too loud and out of control. Then you get diagnosed and you're treated like a d**g addict, people look down on you, make jokes about you 'needing to take d***s' right in front of you, you get told with a sneer that you're just weak. Don't get me wrong, I've come to love my ADHD for the mind-weirdness and creativity that it brings, but every day it's a challenge. And there's still a lot of times it's really hard to manage, and no one every really believes you, cause, you know, you're just making excuses. Thank you for coming to my TEDRant!
I agree but have to say the opposite is true too. I’m diagnosed with chronic and acute anxiety and used to have crippling panic attacks to the point I ended up in the hospital thinking I was having heart attacks or would white out where the room disappeared. I worked things through and didn’t make that the center of my life. Way too many people make their issues their entire personality and then wonder why they never get better. I still have bad anxiety but it’s a part of me not the whole me. I learned not to use it as an excuse to not be a contributing father, husband and provider. If you’re so wrapped up in your condition that other people saying they feel the same offends, you might have a problem.
Some peope act like mental health issues is something desirable they can brag about. I used to have anxiety and it's not fun.
Naming your kid something "unique" which in turn ruins their life because you have baby brain so bad you forget your baby will grow up and be an adult.
DeShawn, Shannequa and Laquisha cried because of this article. Now you have it. :D
Know a kid named Trad after the traditional irish music dad likes and another called Buttons, i guess the family dont like using zips
I don’t mind it aslong as it’s within reason, like just giving a first, middle, or last name in a different language I’m fine with, but something you thought of at 3am in the shower or something that’s nonsensical is weird
This! AND poor kid will literally spend their whole lives explaining how to pronounce their name and spell it correctly. I mean if you secretly hate your kid by all means do it but just know it may impress your "friends" on social media a modicum but your kid will hate you.
Influencers, thus, have a lot of power. They can inspire and motivate others to live healthier, happier, and more purposeful lives. Or they can have a thoroughly negative impact on their audience’s physical and mental health by, for example, making them dissatisfied with their bodies. Spending less time on social media and having a strong social network to support you can help you resist the pull of all those new trendy diets and other behaviors that continue to pop up.
What current trends do you personally dislike the most, dear Pandas? Are there any that you actually enjoy? If you have a moment, let us know in the comments.
Posting everything about your life on social media.
I would say I don't social media but I post to you all on here. Does that count?
If it does count then there are a lot of "I'm not on socials" hypocrites on BP (and I'm definitely one of them!)

That's easier said than done for some people. For some people, social media can become an addiction where they start comparing themselves to others OR they start posting every facet of their lives online. Like any addiction, it can be extremely hard to break.

Fad travel drinking cups (like Stanley) that cost more than a tank of gas.
I seriously do not understand the hype behind these things. They are ugly AF, and I'm pretty sure that around 95% of people have them just for showing off on Insta, Facebook, etc etc. How egotistically narcissistic do you have to be to do this? And the worst part is that when the next hot thing comes along, these will b e dumped everywhere, contributing to rubbish, etc. But don't tell the narcissists that, 'cause they're "All eco-friendly, y'all".
You calling people "narcissistic" because of a friggin cup is one of the points on this post. You missed the point entirely.

Same. I have one for coffee and one for cold drinks. They were both free, and I have had them for about 6 years. Someone recently suggested I "upgrade" to a Stanley, and I asked if she was going to pay for it. She walked away from me.
Load More Replies...What! Ridiculous. They just need sunscreen and that's it.
Load More Replies...To be honest, I worry about the cost of necessary stuff, like basic food, medicines, and basic toiletries. The rest? Couldn't care less. If there are people stupid enough to pay a lot of money for stupid things just because they are fashionable... You know the saying, a fool and his/her money are soon parted. If I were the manufacturer, I'd make them twice or three times as expensive.
Ok, I admit I have a Stanley but I got mine WAY before they became cool bc I was tired of running out of cold water while in my college classes. I got "the ugly" color bc it was all they had when I bought mine. But, with that said, I would not give it up for all the tea in China. I do love my Stanley. Even if it's banged up, the uncool color, and no added stupid jangling bits in all the cheap over the top glory.
I don't understand why anyone needs to carry THAT MUCH liquid, and if you do need to why you can't just pick one colour you like and go with it. You don't need to match your water tank to your shoes.
I have a yeti one that has the pour mouth so I can stay hydrated while working on the farm. I don't want it super cold just don't want it hot also don't want to head back every 30 minutes to get more water. I just have one though, it's yellow which was the one on sale. Survived more bashing around than my hydro flask did. Those seemed to dent easily and lose the ability to stay cool.
Load More Replies...I have one and I really like it. The only reason I don't use it (and why people call me weird for not having one) is because its f*****g broken.
The people who video themselves crying, in different angles. I just think that's so gross. Why do you need to video yourself crying? And from 3 different angles. I just don't understand it. Maybe I'm officially old and just think some things should be private.
I'm officially old as well, and sharing every aspect of your life IS too much. Two generations of narcissist's, and counting. Well count me out.
You should make a video explaining how it is too much while crying about the future

Throughout history fad medical issues have been a thing. Some king of England had an a**l fistula and all the lords and ladies suddenly had one. Today’s modern version of this is the spectrum and neurodivergence. Don’t like how something feels yucky on your hands, on the spectrum! Do you get confused or distracted sometimes on the spectrum! Do you not always enjoy everyone’s company all the time? It’s neurodivergence for SURE!!! Now everybody can pretend to be special and self diagnose, or wise and tell everyone else what condition they have. Leaving the actual people with neurodivergence still ignored in a corner with out proper support because Billy has a fad case of the attentions.
This!!!!! I have a hard time putting this into words. I am autistic, and while no one wants to "gatekeep" a diagnosis, I can't explain how frustrating it can be when someone does one of those internet self diagnosis tests, and then suddenly their whole " journey" is about being "on the spectrum." It is beyond my scope of comprehension as to why anyone would want these disorders. While I accept my autism, it can be/has been incredibly wearisom. It's difficult not understanding basic social cues, it's draining to have to sometimes wear what I call my "human mask" just to react or perform the facial expressions that make neurotypical people feel comfortable around me, it's maddening when logically, logic makes sense, but you live in a highly illogical world. It's upsetting that I'm an adult that has complusive & sensory challenges. I take it in stride but equally would not wish it on anyone.
It took 2 years from the first meeting with the paediatrician to the appointment with the specialist who diagnosed my son as autistic. Seeing people excuse some of their behaviour because they are "self diagnosed autistic" is going to make my son's life harder. I believe it is very exhausting for him to get through the day, he is 9 so doesn't mask and his classmates accept him as he is but he does need that downtime when he gets home. Then there is the sensory issues.....I have put it down to them thinking autism is trendy now as there is a lot more exposure to it coupled with the autism is a superpower thing that goes around.
Load More Replies...I don't know why anyone would want to self-diagnose themselves with ADHD, anxiety, depression, or autism. Anxiety made my life a living hell as a child and teenager at times, and I was bullied relentlessly for it to the point where I didn't want to be alive. I have found numerous ways to manage it from medication, yoga, sports, hanging out with friends, meditation, and therapy. However, I feel like I lost so much of my childhood to it. Furthermore, it is still stigmatized, and people sometimes look down on you and feel like you are not strong enough to manage your emotions which can be incredibly hurtful. Thus, it makes me disgusted when people pretend to be "special and self-diagnose." It hurts so much when people say they are having a panic attack over a little issue like lost keys. No, panic attacks are absolutely horrible, and you would never pretend to have one if you knew how debilitating they can be.
My workplace once tried to get me to get back to work right after I had a panic attack, even though I was still shaking a bit and crying. Yeah, nope.
Load More Replies...Wonder if those people ever sat and cried a whole day bc not understanding your surroundings on a daily basis, feeling a day late and a dollar short every time you go somewhere, and always feeling like your missing the big picture eventually comes to a boiling point and the frustration you feel at life in general makes you want to throw very large things through very large windows to find some relief. The frustration of going through those things is what gets me every time. I didn't understand why everything always just seemed harder for me to do or harder for me to understand. I don't wish that on anyone bc you miss so much of life trying to figure out if you're missing so much of life. That is my experience with autism and sever depression disorder every single day.
I do agree in part, but a lot of people, myself included had to get adult diagnosed. If it was more spoken about it wouldn't have taken this iong. Ive found it very helpful to explain lot of my behavior and actually makes me angry that i had such a hard time in school And had no idea why. I grew up thinking adhd was how it presented in little boys, so nothing at all like me.
Totally agree with this. My brother has been diagnosed on the spectrum. Just because you get annoyed with people or are uncomfortable in some situations does not mean you are:- autistic, on the spectrum; have OCD; bipolar or depression. You are just a normal human being.
It used to be exact opossite. People either refused to acknowledge existence of disorders or mental health issues, or refused to acknowledge that they or their children might have one.
And like the earlier post, used for effect or to punish people, which also undermines the genuine experience of people who live with neurodivergence. A family member called me autistic recently, just because my life isn't how they think it should be. I'm not.
Posting updates and photos about your children's medical/personal issues. I cannot imagine trying to grow up with a parent like that.
I just can't get over that young woman smiling and dancing as she announces that her son has RSV. And her son is in the background strugglingto breathe. Like wtaf??? Are we getting that detached from reality?
I think it's the whole TicTok thing, they can't adequately get a point across unless they are flailing around like they are on fire.

There was a recent article in the UK press, it was an interview with the child of a mummy blogger. She was basically abused; if you don't perform for the camera, you don't eat, that sort of thing. They couldn't distinguish between reality and the little bubble their mum created
Mostly agree but I feel like it depends on if the kid is on board. I'm thinking of a few stories I've read over time where what encouraged the sick kid was the attention and well wishing they were getting from so many strangers. I can't remember any names at the moment but I remember the kid seemed pretty jazzed people were rooting for him.
Kids are never really "on board". Kids are happy when their parents are happy. Parents like this have a need for attention, and this is how they get it, by proxy. Kids do, generally, like attention, but it is rarely ever really about them. It is all about the parent and the attention they can garner-which is just weird. Kids don't magically start getting or feeling better because 500 or some odd number of perfect strangers all of a sudden know everything going on in their lives. Even if the "encouragement from strangers" seems genuine, kids honestly don't care as much as their parents want people to think they care. But kids will, without a doubt, act like they care, if they see it makes their parents feel better. Kids are not extensions of their parents, this kind of behavior is NEVER a good idea, for ANY reason. Even if it's a fundraiser, limit the amount of information you offer strangers, children aren't projects, they're people.
Load More Replies...I have the same opinion of reality tv as I do social media. My opinion is that children cannot legally consent, therefore, they do not belong, period. I don't care why someone puts their children out there on sm, or on reality tv, they simply do not belong and should never. I know people say "but kids feel encouraged by the attention". No, kids feel encouraged because they know their parent(s) like the attention, which ends up giving them (the kids) more attention in general, which makes them feel good. Kids care when you care, they don't give a c**p if 500 strangers somewhere else in the world "care" by watching or reading about them on sm. They'll tell their parents they care, because they want them to be happy. There are countless studies about this very thing. While not all of them are the most valid, plenty of them are and offer up some serious evidence as to how detrimental this behavior truly is. KNOCK IT OFF and leave your kids out of your need for attention and get a hobby.
I've a facebook friend who has kids with some on going medical issues, and you can bet your a**e that every hospital admission means 30+ photos of a sad kid in a hospital bed.
A coworker used to do that to her children, in the end they had to threaten her to make her stop, and even then she couldn't stop completely. They reached a compromise where she couldn't post anything without their permission. I just don't get how you can haggle about posting your kids online when they threaten to never speak to you unless absolutely necessary while still living at home and going complete no contact when moving out. No idea what the father is up to, we aren't close. I think she just unloaded on me thinking she'd get sympathy since I was "young" and would understand her. I did not and do not.
People who film others’ misfortunes in order to gain clout. There’s a dude on YT who films/posts every waking second of his Father with Alzheimer’s; really really personal s**t, embarrassing s**t, and it’s all for clout. Not to mention the elderly man is _incapable of consenting_ . Like, wtf. Cringe. Also, those guys who film themselves buying lunch for their poorly paid, overworked migrant laborers and then act like saints because of it. It’s for clout, not because they are angelic people. Chasing clout in general, is IMO gross and desperate. Just like, be a good person if you really want to do good. And don’t rush to film it, this gives away your true intentions.
There's a few people posting videos of their family members who have dementia and it makes me absolutely boil every time. Mum has dementia, I would NEVER disrespect her by slapping her all over the net for views.
I could understand if it's genuinely to spread awareness and bring people's attention to the subject. Every now and then you see a celebrity do something like this. One of the newsreaders here did a story about her Mum's struggle with dementia, and Wally Lewis has been very open about his fight with CTE. Raising money for research is important, so is educating people to recognise the warning signs. But yeah, if it's *just* for the likes on social media it's pretty horrid.
Load More Replies...Really don't know what sort of internet brownie points you think you would get filming someone with dementia, guarantee the man his dad used to be would probably be mortified at some of the things he gets up to now and would not appreciate it being broadcast to all and sundry for entertainment.
They post because people watch. If society quits watching they will go away.
My dad taught me do good things cause it's the right thing to do, not to seek accolades for the gesture. That negates the whole thing.
Generally, people who are actually generous and kind, don't go showing it off, or even really talking about it.
There is a person who post videos of him being extremely offensive to others. He has a huge "bodyguard" that he hides behind while doing this and he laughs at people when they can't do anything to stop him because of the bodyguard. I'm usually a very mellow person, but when I run across one of his videos I just want to wring his scrawny little chicken neck.
As someone with first-hand experience living with a loved one with dementia, I cannot imagine making videos of their experience except perhaps of those moments when they are sharing their life with family or friends and seemed happy. As a memento for the future, yes. I wish I had more of my husband who died 3 years ago of dementia. I would even have considered a film if I thought it would help others cope better with their own family when experiencing dementia, but I am not a filmmaker so I never thought to do that. Talking with others going through a similar experience is helpful. But so much of the caring for someone with dementia is heartbreaking and do you really want to have a visual reminder of all of those times when your loved one sh*t all over the place or tore apart his diapers and spread them all over the room? No. To video all of it and put it online seems like just asking for others to feel sorry for you or praise you for your efforts.
Lip fillers.
I actually have heard men, myself included, comment that a woman's lips were too thin. (If it helps, as a Black person, full lips are prized and appreciated as a beauty standard in our culture) However, I also agree with Cyndielouwhoo. What does it matter what any man thinks about a woman's face or body? If she wants to get lip fillers because she thinks it makes her look and feel better, why not?
Load More Replies...This is so ugly. Who wants to carry around a Rubber Dinghy in their face? And who wants to kiss such blown-up lips?
Ugh. This is just gross. Why would you purposely want to look like a goldfish?
ANY fillers and botox. Everyone's getting the same 'mask' look with the Joker mouth.
But people can do what they want with their own bodies. We don't have to agree. But it's not our place to tell them what to do
Now that I'm over 40... nearly everything.
What is the deal with this stock art, with matching sweater top and wall it looks like a disembodied hovering head on my screen.
People acting like arrogant a******s for attention on the internet, and then playing the victim when the attention they get from acting like a******s is predictably negative.
Too bad I only get 1 up vote, otherwise I'd have used a whole day's worth here.
Filters. People don’t even look real or remotely like themselves anymore in their pictures or videos.
I don't use social media to upload anything for almost 2 years now. When I recently replaced my phone with budget one, the selfie camera had preset filters to make my chin smaller and my eyes bigger. I had to find the settings and change it, because that was the default.
A colleague of mine took a selfie of the two of us and used a filter on it; I was horrified! I looked like some kind of uncanny valley android! I made her take another one without a filter so I looked like myself. It creeps me out just thinking about it.
Body dysmorphia from this is at a huge all-time high because you cannot physically attain what you see in photos and a whole disconnect happens. My friend co-authored a paper on it that sadly I can't find the link to but it's been researched and is horribly sad. A ton of my same-age middle aged friends do not post pictures anymore without that blurry Barbra Streissand lens greasing effects and it scares me for them.
People who film their workouts all the time. Like you need to bring your camera and tripod EVERY day to the gym, for EVERY WORKOUT? Jesus Christ leave a little narcissism for everyone else.
And THEN they get all annoyed because people keep walking into their shot. Yes, you're in public and you're not special. No one cares that you're recording.
I would sit there with $1 bills and BRIBE people to do that, then film those folks becoming increasingly annoyed.
Load More Replies...I saw this one girl with a phone trying to film herself in the pool and then got annoyed at me as I swam past. I hope she ended up dropping her phone in the pool
Or require that you get the signed consent of everyone in the gym.
Load More Replies...I have this one simple hack to avoid this. I don't go to the gym, and remain a fatass.
And no matter what they're workout focus is that day, the camera will be angled up their butt.
"Jesus Christ leave a little narcissism for everyone else" I'm sooo stealing this!
TikTok disorder fakers. I have autism. I *cannot* understand these people and why they seem to WANT these disabilities/mental illnesses. It's disgusting and I hate it.
For views. For the money they make from those views. Some people have no morals, and we reward them for it. That was profound, wasn't it? Go me.
Yes. No one with a serious MH diagnosis wants to be the poster child for it.
I also really despise booktok books for promoting things like this. Every single female character written by a female author MUST have crippling nightmares, anxiety, horrible insecurity, a quirky nervous habit or two, and depression. If even one of these is missing, she’s not a proper booktok girl anymore. Why are we romanticising depression? Why are we telling every insecure girl that she just needs to hold on a bit more, and wait for that one guy to come over and show her the world anew? Why romanticise anxiety?
Like this one: https://www.heraldscotland.com/opinion/23101806.issue-day-able-bodied-norwegian-identifies-disabled-woman/ It's one thing to believe you're a woman trapped in a man's body. It's another thing entirely to believe you're disabled and need a wheelchair as well. There is a point where it really should be viewed as mental illness and treated as such.
That woman may have BIID, it is a neurological problem. People with BIID think they need to have a member amputated, often a leg. They feel that it does not belong to them.
Load More Replies...The fakers p**s me off. I'm not now nor never will be on tik tok. That said, as someone who has mh issues, finding groups of people who also have similar diagnosis that talk about it have *really* opened my eyes to a lot of things I thought were just me being defective and trying to cope. To suddenly find out these things have names like Executive Function Disorder and what that looks like has been a huge relief for me that I am not alone in this and that other prople fell and do the same things. It's been very cathartic.
Because it turns out that life is hard, and having a 'reason' for difficult feelings that mean someone doesn't have to challenge themselves to get on with things and tough it out, is very appealing. And, of course, it's hard to know sometimes which camp someone falls into, even for the person themselves.
Family bloggers. Constantly having your life recorded as a child can really f**k you up. Especially since a lot of the time the parents are just using their children for content.
Jump ahead a few years: IT'S MY DAUGHTER'S 18TH BIRTHDAY AND SHE SAYS SHE'S MOVING OUT AND DOESN'T WANT ME TO CONTACT HER ANYMORE?!?!??!? #ungrateful #ididnothingwrong #whydomychildrenhateme
Load More Replies...Every family channel that seems sweet at first have some serious problems. I don't think filming an occasional video of some activity like baking with kids is bad, but it never stops there. Usually the parents share way too much, way too personal things, and don't give their kids a choise whether to participate or not.
Women who refer to themselves as Boss Lady but are just in a pyramid scheme.
And talk about how they're a successful small business owner, earning so much and working so hard that the"normal" people it there, have no idea what is like to work so hard and make so much. 🤮🤮🤮
I find the term "girl boss" actually offensive. It irks me to the point of not being able to keep a calm demeanor when I hear it. Not only does is negate the work that women have done to rise above such childish names, it is not something to be proud of. "Girl boss" is infantile and demeaning.
Yep, I have neighbors like that. They truly believe they are successful. They can't make ends meet every month, but that's because they are entrepreneurs. Last year I clearly saw why are they so oblivious about it - the people above them in the scheme are constantly telling them how great they are, how great their team is, making some luxury seminars with same old information and inspirational quotes.
"Unalive" or "unaliving," it's admittedly a funny way of referring to death, but people are using it in incredibly serious contexts. It comes off as insensitive.
That's, again, about money. Tiktok demonetized videos that talked about death and the other platforms have done the same (including BP), which has lead us to unaliving, seggs and all sorts of infantile words for serious topics.
yeah we cant say sex, suicide, d***s, or anything like that without it being cencored.
Load More Replies...Why are the words death/dying/dead/d***s/rape etc being censored in the first place? Honest question…how have they become offensive?
Load More Replies...That's not really a choice, that's censorship gone insane so people can't talk about serious topics online anymore. It IS a problem, but the problem lies with the censors not the people forced to use work-around words.
A similar thing happened when mentioning Covid. People had to refer to it as other things like "the great inconvenience". If people wouldn't be censored by either a person who sight reads for buzzwords or a program, they wouldn't have to stop correctly using words.
Between that and the censoring by platforms, people have had to come up with creative ways to just join in discussions.
Removing your buccal fat.
Ladies & gentlemen, leave your cheeks alone. You need that fat if you don't want to look like skeletor when you get old.
Not to get too graphic, but this is a cosmetic medical procedure where an incision is made inside your mouth, and a fat pocket is pulled out, giving you more defined cheekbones, and a thinner, more chiseled looking face. People who have done this do not age well. That's what the "Skeletor" comment was about.
*Comedian Matt Rife & "not his" plastic surgeon have entered the chat
Load More Replies...Am I the only one who thinks round faces are beautiful on women? Some of these extreme buccal fat removal procedures seem to have a masculinizing effect on me. It's their face and their choice, but I don't understand the preference.
I think a lot of it goes back to the pressure to be thin. In a head shot, a round face versus a gaunt face is going to suggest the person isn't model thin. I think that's why a lot of celebs do it :/
Load More Replies...Look at before and after pics of this. I cannot understand why perfectly lovely, attractive people want to do this. The after result is not good. I guess they think it looks good, but I don't understand why they think that. In every case the person looks like they aged several decades, IMO.
That last is probably because losing that fat is normal when you age.
Load More Replies...Basically just removing the fat in your cheeks. The ones on your face.
Load More Replies...Like 75% of any concert audience is on their phones taking videos of the concert or doing some stupid a*s TikTok video of them singing along. Nobody actually enjoying what’s in front of them… they only care about repackaging 5% of that experience for someone else in 480p.
This happens everywhere, and I find it so annoying. It happens at concerts, museums, zoos, and some people can't even get through a meal without their phones. Chances are, they won't go back and ever watch all that footage, but they made sure they held their phones up and ruined the good time other people were trying to have. 😑
Back in the day, the Grateful Dead had a separate section for tapers. They had their own tickets for that. You'd see the forest of microphones set up in the arena's audio sweet spot. A few weeks later, the live tapes would be circulating. No camera phones back then! I used to take my 35mm to shows where I had a good seat.
Way back in the 80’s I had the magic opportunity to go horseback riding in Hawaii. One of the other guys had his camcorder glued to his face the entire ride. I cannot imagine anyone ever watched it, not even himself. Can you imagine the jumpy images? For TWO HOURS?? Dude, put it down and make memories rather that “memories”.
I remember when no recording devices were allowed in any venue, including bars and restaurants.
The only time I’ve done this is when me and a friend got tickets to a concert, but he ended up in the hospital so I FaceTimed him so he could still see (until halfway through when my phone died)
Back in the day, if you were being a little s**t inside a grocery store, the manager would chase you out with a broomstick, swearing and cursing at you waving their fist in the air as you escaped down the street. Nowadays, kids in stores are being little shits and filming it, and when the manager arrives they simply turn the camera, and its up to the manager to handle the situation in an incredibly calm and civil manner. No contact is allowed, and so the kids usually don't budge and keep pushing for a reaction. It's gotten to the point now that if there's a highschool near your grocery store be prepared to ignore a bunch of tiktok dancers and pranksters as you shop because confrontation plays directly into their game anyway.
I fear that in 10-20 years, that the bad effect on the lungs will really start to show. Nobody knows the long term effects but they do it anyway. Doctors even have recommended them..
During school hours the stores around my school did not allow students into their stores. Adults were the only patrons allowed in the stores. This was in the 70s. The area I live in now doesn't allow students to bring backpacks or bags in the stores. Kids are also photographed before entering the store.
Adding a tip on a screen for doing anything.
I remember being on a cruise ship almost 2 decades ago. Prepaid gratuity. Went to the candy store, picked out my candy, put it in a bag, checked out myself, and they wanted me to add a tip.
I always tip..... I say "look left and right before you cross the road"......
Pay the proper living wage and allow the customer to decide if a tip is warranted.
Here is my line: "Bow down and kiss my feet and I will give you a tip."
Being “Alpha”.
If you are an Alpha, you have no need to proclaim it to the world. People will just know. That said, a true Alpha should have kindness in the forefront of their traits.
I liked when a programmer pointed out that the "alpha" version is the crappy one with all the bugs, unfit for customers.
Also, Alpha particles (or alpha radiation) are the weakest form of ionizing particles that can be stopped by a sheet of paper...
Load More Replies...The only time being an "Alpha" would technically be correct would be in a prison system. The study most commonly cited was done in 1948 by Rudolf Schenkel. It was based upon observations of wolves in captivity/ Zoos. The problem with this is that those packs are comprised of mostly unrelated individuals. In the wild a wolf pack is comprised of related animals. Rudolph, realizing his error spent the rest of his life trying to retract his paper.
You only have to read the comments about women's football etc. to realise just how many misogynists (alphas) there are.
When I think of alpha I think of the unstable early versions of video games
I work in IT. Alpha software is stuff that isn't even fit for outsiders to examine as Beta Software. It seems to work for humans too!
I really love the men who caption their name followed by "Alpha Male." It's really funny to how fragile their male ego must be. When I see the caption with younger I just substitute "incel".
From what I know, in wolves the alpha is the leader and the beta gets beat up and ignored,
The over-use of meme speak like: "I was today years old when...".
Or referring to dogs as "doggos." The "doggo" is actually a specific breed of dog.
Are you talking about a Dogo Argentino? Because "doggo" just means any random dog, not a specific breed. Different pronunciation.

Are reaction shots still a thing? I cannot stand watching a video of someone's stupid face while they watch something else happening. Some old lady nodding and pointing her finger into the air, or shaking her head while a video plays in the background has got to go.
I enjoy some of these cross-generational music reactions. Seeing the astonishment on a younger person's face when they hear Janis Joplin's voice for the first time is pretty special.
Love watching the youngins' experience the Boomer music!
Load More Replies...I like some of them if the person reacting is a professional. Not just some rando. I kind of like that youtube channel that is graphic effects artists commenting on scenes from films where they used CG or practical special effects. But they talk about technical aspects and it is interesting. They don't just make weird faces as they watch some random video.
That's not a reaction video though, that's an analysis or a review. Critiques like that are perfectly acceptable and have been pretty much forever.
Load More Replies...I hate them so much! I've seen some that are like 4 reactions deep, and no link to the original content for credit (or to be able to actually watch it) of course.
The worst part about reaction videos are always the thumbnails. Always some stupid wide eyed, wide mouthed freeze frame "shocked" face of some douchebag wearing gaming headphones. "SSundee Reacts to Five Nights at Freddy's jump scares!". No, thanks.
If I wanna see a idiot react to a animation, I’ll do it myself
Face tattoos.
Tattoos on any body part can be amazing. Sadly, after helping many older adults who had tattoos in their 20’s, 40 years later they they have faded/deteriorated and look pretty rubbish. I’m therefore planning to get my first tattoo as a 80th birthday present (I might have decided on a design by then too!)
I like the way you think! When I’m 80, I won’t care if it fades or if the design is a passing fad (been wanting one for years but have been so indecisive…)
Load More Replies...I've seen some beautiful work done on faces. I've also seen some truly "regertable" c**p on faces. I just wish people would give greater thought to what they are having done and that yes, it is their right... they will also get to deal with the consequences of those tattoos.
In a cultural tradition, say, Maori, absolutely. The problem is, outside of a cultural tradition, they are usually ill-thought out, and often for the wrong reasons. And, ffs, do not tattoo someone's name on you unless they are a blood relative you will never regret. Tattoo "Property of Bob" on your forehead or neck and I guarantee you will not remain "Property of Bob" because Karma thinks that is funny.
okay: if you really think it looks cool/you have liked it for a while, go for it! if you saw something and you now think it's cool, whatever. it'll haunt you later.
Constantly using the word "literally". Edit: Ok, since quite a lot of people seem to think that I am an idiot who was not aware that the word "literally" existed before now, I will phrase my original comment differently. "The OVERUSE of the word "literally" (which has existed for hundreds of years) is cringeworthy to me." Does that make it clearer? Nowhere in my original comment did I question the existence of the word. Edit 2: Also, I never realized there were so many etymologists on Reddit. Etymologists who don't seem to know the meaning of the word constantly, but what can you do?
Did you mean misuse of the word literally? I hate it. It literally is destroying the meaning of the word. And I hear it frequently. I am not one to pound the hammer on grammar. If I get what you mean, communication has been effective. Using "literally" to mean "metaphorically" complicates communication unnecessarily.
"Like " is a filler word. "Literally", when used in the wrong context, tends to embellish the situation the person is speaking about.

Slang or abbreviations of words. I can understand “idk” “bc” or something like that, but just yesterday I was texting with my little sister and I questioned whether I knew my native language.
Idc - I don’t care , bc - because , OMG – Oh my God/goodness, BTW – By the way- OMW On my way!, brb - be right back , afk - away from keyboard, LMK – Let me know, NVM – Nevermind , Ngl – Not gonna lie, RQ - real quick Not that hard
I was never great at English text abbreviations, but since moved to France, have had to learn to translate my stepson's texts in French and Franglais textese for my wife, who hasn't a clue what he is on about. of course I do slip in the odd rude or joke translation, and move out of frying pan range!
The curly fringes on teenage boys.
Nah, even if it's going to look ridiculous when they look back on photos from their teens - that is how the order of things goes. So it was for my generation, so it shall be forever.

Stanley cups.
Might be because they are more prevalent in North America but it took me a while to realise that people weren't talking about trophies when they referred to Stanley cups!

The anti-pedo hysteria is doing way more harm than good, indeed. It's like a modern version of the old "red scare."
Particularly when the focus of the hysteria (drag queens?) is used to distract from the problem. I follow someone who keeps track of actual arrests and convictions of sexually abusing children. The overwhelming majority of these are committed by “youth pastors,” cops, and coaches. But your not going to find discussions of this in Congress or the news.

Over-the-top social media challenges that prioritize shock value or danger just to gain likes and followers. It feels like the authenticity of sharing genuine moments is lost to performing risky or embarrassing acts for viral fame. This trend often crosses the line from entertaining to just plain cringe-worthy.
Being an a*****e for internet clout.
The automated robot voice on ticktok videos.
I guess there are legitimate reasons for it, like trying to retain some anonymity by not sharing your real voice for the whole world to hear. Or letting the world know you're a woman, or a kid and opening yourself up for harassment. But it definitely seems to be overdone.
And in the commentary on so many YouTube videos that are basically compilations of other people's content. There should be a way to filter those out and see original content only.
When people go to social media to ask for a recommendation for something and end the phrase with “and go!”
“I’m looking for a photographer for my son’s 3rd birthday this Saturday. Looking for recommendations for someone who can do this under $100. Annnnnnd go!”.
And slams the door. Being careful that there are no cat's tails in said door. 😉

Sports gambling.
Meh, I'm ok with this. I don't like how aggressive the advertisement of sports gambling has become though. They've really pushed it too hard. That said, I believe if gambling five dollars on a game/race/match now and then not hundreds or thousands of dollars. That adds a little extra excitement to the game but it's not going to be a big deal if I lose.
They should couple the ads with those for lawyers if for no other reason than the annoyance factor. 🤣
Load More Replies...I remember when advertising tobacco on television, cinemas and in print ads stopped at some point. Perhaps gambling should go that way as well.
The worst is that they have the disclaimer to seek help on small print on the ads after telling you that you can bet on anything like the number of made free throws in a game. if you have money on points scored buy the team and the individual how can you enjoy it if they aren't even close to what you picked.
For me, a millennial, social media use in general. I find it all to be of diminishing appeal.
I ditched Facebook and instagram a few years back and Twitter last year. Reddit is losing its appeal as well. Too much bot activity and rage farming happening.
The more niche a community is here the more tolerable it tends to be but even still I feel less and less draw.
Yes there is an irony in my posting this all here. I’m human and my brain loves the dopamine kick but I sincerely believe I get less and less value from social media with each passing year.
It's more like antisocial media. I don't get the appeal to having strangers watching and liking anything. Creepy.
Since the beginning of Facebook, I have managed my feed to see what interests me. I almost never see posts from “friends”, but I follow artists, music groups, science pages, etc. On Instagram, I have 2 accounts, one where I only see photos/videos of cats (and other animals) and one where I see art. A friend told me he wasn't surprised that I used social media without the social aspect.
Vaping.
It helped this 50 year diehard cigarette addict and her husband to quit smoking. Vaped for about a year and quit that, too. Never thought I could or would. Vaping is definitely helpful.
It can be, in cases like yours. But apparently we're now facing the situation where after years of a steady decline in rates of smoking more and more kids are getting into vaping.
Load More Replies...As someone who smoked cigars for years and was constantly sick, but couldn't give up the nicotine, I am thankful for vapes. I am not sick anymore, all of my lab work has improved immensely and continues to improve, chronic health conditions are abating, I don't smell like cigar smoke, and I can finally taste things again (even after covid smell/taste loss). Should people start it if they've never smoked? Absolutely not. But it is helping so many people kick a bad habit. I'm not vaping nearly as much as I was smoking, and it's been easier to taper off. I know that soon I won't need the vape either.
You left out the brown tar boogers, that's something I don't miss

I use the recycling bins at the apartment complex near where I live, with the manager's permission, but every time I take a load of recycling there, I do it as fast I can and pretend like I am breaking the law. So yeah, that is how gangsta I am.
Using those song clips everyone has heard a million times before, like the “oh no” song. I’d rather stick my head in an oven before hearing it ever again.
"Remember (Walking in the Sand)" Used to be one of my favorite Aerosmith songs. It's almost painful to hear it butchered over and over again.
I watch most of them without sound (Pinterest), but to my delight I have noticed that many nowadays have a notice: Audio is not available in your location. Win-win! I don't miss some stupid music clip if I'm watching a recipe video or a cat video.
One thing I love about imgur is how many people comment about videos with "DO NOT UNMUTE!" or "Definitely unmute" depending on the content. Adorable kitten sounds wind up with heaps of "Definitely unmute". It's like a group mind where people have realised people tend to mute all the c**p videos but really like hearing the cute ones.

This is no hate to the women who enjoy these things but the number of people I follow on instagram who are getting eyelash extensions that touch their eyebrows and getting vials and vials of lip filler just looks painful. They don’t look bad but when you say “cringe” I do cringe at how uncomfortable that has to be (to each their own if it makes u confident that’s all that matters!).
Even when I was young and better looking, fake parts on a woman was a turn off to me. If a woman has fake eyelashes, nails, hair, chest, fillers and so on it just screams insecurity to me. Kind of like when women joke about a man must be trying to compensate for something with his toys. I prefer to be with someone comfortable in their own skin.
This is pretty much my stance on it, I would never wear fake lashes myself or any of that, but I know a lot of girls that do and it makes them feel beautiful and isn’t hurting anyone, so, whatever.
They look like scary puppets and non-humans, especially the ones who can only blink. If aliens walk among us with really bad humans suit (like we do with pandas) we wouldn't notice them because we'd assume they're one of these people. It looks good on ig from certain angles only, makes me sick that people do this to themselves.
If someone is going to stab me repeatedly with a needle, I better have a nice tattoo when they are done.
Saying "ick".
This is another one that seems weird to be upset over. Eww, ick, ugh, gross, yuck... what does it matter? They're all just basic expressions of dislike.
I think it's the overuse of the word or expression. People tend to sound like middle schoolers when they pepper with expressions like "ewww" or "gives me the ick".
Load More Replies...I've never seen a BBL that looks good. Just makes you look like you're wearing a diaper.
And can we refer back to the "using too many abbreviations" post? BBL means Be Back Later for most people. Now we're expected to realise it means Brazilian Butt Lift? I mean OMG WTF?

Overly sexualized clothing for females - No I do not want my shirt to be skin tight no matter the size, I don't want skinny jeans, 99% of people look terrible in both of those.
THIS. I'm a trans guy, but since I'm not taking testosterone and haven't had top surgery, i still tend to wear the "women's" clothing since it fits my body better. I have to look so hard to find pants that DON'T exaggerate my hips and a*s, that's what I'm trying to hide! And a majority of shirts are just so tight fitting, I hate it. I've mainly given up on women's shirts, men's shirts suit me way better.

Therapy as subscription service.
Isn't that basically what it is anyway? Not being obtuse, but if it's something you do regularly (once a week , month, etc) and you pay for it. It's basically a subscription or perhaps a membership if it's group therapy.
If you can't afford what your insurance doesn't pay, what does paying more to a subscription service actually help? Your more broke than the insurance option.
Hiring a therapist is also a “subscription” so… what else are you supposed to do!
They're not, they're shaming dodgy companies like BetterHelp who take your money but don't offer any actual help.

They are. I've seen them advertised in a couple places. I'd like to know if there is any genuine science behind the design or whether it's all just about the look.

These shoes look like something Kanye West and Frankenstein's monster would make.
Shhhh, he'll have his wife in them (and maybe nothing else) by weeks end.

Instead of saying “it gives peter murphy vibes” say “it gives peter murphy”. also, saying “not (insert whatever it is i’m observing)” Not me making breakfast for my grandmother again! Not me drunk at 8:30 am again. Not me complaining about new fads in slang and vernacular. Not me wasting my life entirely! 🙂🔫.
I've heard people use the second, but not the first. That's a new one to me too.

People making their generation their entire personality and introducing themselves with it. "I'm GenZ so I think..." "Millennial here..." "That's a Boomer for you..." Just stop it.
I guess I'm calling out criticizing people because they don't make choices that suit you. It's not my business how you spend your money or time if you're not hurting anyone. This post just appears to be collected meaness.
Fr judging people who r just doing what makes them happy and hurts nobody is "cringe"

NASA using the word "terror", as in 20 seconds of terror when the Mars rover was landing. Was anyone in danger of being hit by it? Were people's lives in danger? NO! But someone shooting at random people in Las Vegas wasn't considered terror because there was no political motive to it! B S
Disorders, mental illness ,PTBS we want to raise awareness instead we raise trends, cause everybody wants to bee heard but don't have any patience to listen
