Cultural Differences At The Olympics
In this photo Lucy Nicholson captured not only Doaa Elghobashy (Egypt) and Kira Walkenhorst (Germany) competing in beach volleyball at the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro but also the cultural differences of two civilizations.

It's also oppressive to be expected to play a sport in a tiny bikini while men, same sport, wear baggy shorts and tank tops
Agree. I watched Australia play the Netherlands, and it struck me that the Aussie girls spent most of the match tugging down their tiny tops and getting the material from the bottom half out of their bottoms whereas the Dutch girls looked really comfortable in leggings and a short sleeved top. Those tiny outfits of the Aussies and many others, seemed to be impractical as well as pretty sexist.

How should I tell her why she has to cover herself in clothes that she doesn’t like? For the first time she wore something called “Maqna'a” (a hooded headscarf) and I think of how cruelly she has to tolerate the heat and how I freely get to wear more comfortable clothing than her. ???? From today on, just like the other women in this country, she has to confine herself to the prison of compulsory hijab to prevent the faith of some people from shaking! I wish I could do something for her. ???? My daughter, forgive me for not being able to stop them from taking your freedom from you, so that you, too, can choose your clothing as you wish. Forgive me, for I don’t have the honor or the power to defend the least of your human rights against a bunch of pseudo-humans." https://www.facebook.com/StealthyFreedom/photos/a.859102224103873.1073741828.858832800797482/1461195733894516/?type=3&theater

Nope. Oppression is declaring a white man's opinion as the ultimatum. Screw that, you guys have had your power for centuries. Let the woman who is "oppressed" speak for her damn self buddy!!

Load More Replies...How about those legs and arms tights made from cooling material? Just curious. Tight cooling arm sleeves are quite common in Korea, (either men or women, more men actually) since here everybody is obsessed with bright skin and anti-aging, but also many people are simply sensitive to sunlight.

You guys should watch the awesome movie PERSEPOLIS, I love this speech from the main character to a guy asking her to wear to wear narrower trousers and longer headscarves "Why, as a woman should their tight clothes have no effect on me while a shorter headscarf arouses them?"
how could people tagging him self as human right activist when they always blubbering about other people faith... it's their decision dude... many man got more attention "BEAST STARE" or lust to a girl wearing bikini than hijab i guess... CMIIW #soryforbadenglish
One has to be really really ignorant of our contemporary society to call it 'cultural difference'.
This picture is telling that all muslims are not terrorist. Some of them are playing in Olympic :P

Now that is badass. I know it must be difficult being covered up like that and still giving it a 100% on the field. My applause goes to both, especially the one in the hijaab. Y'all need to quit thinking muslim women are oppressed, Trump's got all of you brainwashed lmao. Thinking your civilization does it better and others have it worst is hill billy level ignorance. (Based on the comments I've read here) And I say this as an American muslim woman. Go say to one of us these days! I swear you will learn more by being human and humble than hearing about others through your lame news channel or facebook feed or Donald Trump. Deuces.

With due respect to both the women who r representing the sport at an international level with there culture in mind.
Are you saying the Egyptian woman will be wearing a bikiny just like the German one? If that's the case, let's hope so. No, actually, let's hope it gets like this sooner.
