Cua Dai “Fishing-Net” Village, Hoi An (13 Pics)

Cua Dai “fishing-net” village (Hoi An) has been around for a long time, with more than 100 fishing nets located at the intersection of the Thu Bon De Vong and Truong Giang rivers before following to the sea.

When the sea is calm, the season of fishing is coming, the fishermen will go fish all night, and only end a hard-working day when the dawn comes in Cua Dai.

The fishing industry operates almost all year round, except on days when the river water rises and flows strongly. The period from April to July of the lunar calendar every year is the boom time for the fishing industry.

The fishing net is made of a large net, about 80 to 130 square meters in width

The four corners of the fishing net are fixed by four large bamboos plugged into the river bed and connected to a rotating shaft placed on a hut through a long winch system.

In order to pull this huge fishing net, people sitting on the hut must use their feet to step on the pedal of the winch shaft to rotate until the fishing net floats out of the water

After that, they use a small boat to move to the middle of the river and gently use their hands to lift the bottom of the fishing net from the outside to the inside to guide the fishes and shrimp to the exit below the bottom of the fishing net. When fishes and shrimps were gathered in one place, they gently grabbed the mouth of the exit and pulled it down to pour them into the boat.

Nowadays, the fishing-net industry is still the main livelihood of hundreds of households in the Cua Dai region

Every early morning or at sunset, the fishing nets in Cua Dai look sparkling in the sunlight and the immense water surface, which creates a poetic beauty in the Cua Dai River region of Quang Nam.

In order to take beautiful photos, wake up at 4 am, rent a small cruise ship to travel to the “Cua Dai” sea, and wait for dawn

You absolutely capture amazing moments with the colors of the fishing nets in combination with the color of the sunrise. However, it will be better if you accompany a photography guide to get success on this journey of discovery.
