Actually Calvin wasn't abducted on board the craft, he remained on the dock/pier awake but paralyzed throughout the ordeal. Charles was the one that got abducted onto the craft. Calvin did see everything up to the point his friend was lifted over to the craft and could see the craft the entire time while Charles was on board and then returned, however he could not even utter a sound.
