when the jacket is zipped up it will be pointing to -5, meaning it's cold, and you zip it up when it's cold, whereas you wouldn't have it zipped up when it's hot so it would be pointing to 50

When the jacket is zipped up, the red bar will be at the top. Which is exactly where the cold side is. But when it gets warmer, you will take it off, causing the red mar yo go down, which is where the hot side is, proving that its warmer. GENIOUS!!!!!

I think mercury rises, so shouldn't the numbers be going in the other direction?? Hot should be at the top, no??
