Imagine growing up knowing that your parents caused a death just to announce what kind of genitals you have. It would be icing on the cake if that kid ended up being trans.

She got the "stunning" pictures she wanted, but at what cost? My friend had a cute gender reveal: she gave her 6-year-old daughter an ornament, paint, and the doctor's envelope that said the new baby's sex. The girl, who strongly wanted a sister, went in her room to paint the ornament. When she was ready, they took a 10-second video of her coming out of the hallway with the blue ornament and a big smile. I think it helped her get excited even though the baby wasn't another girl, 'cause it's normal for little kids to have a strong preference like that. It got her involved. And what a cute keepsake.

The saddest part is that no one except the parents actually cares about the gender of the baby so this was all for nothing.

When my now ex-wife was pregnant with our daughter we decided that in this world there are few truly amazing surprises. We asked not to know what the sex of our unborn child was. During the pregnancy she was convinced our baby was going to be a boy, no particular reason, she just felt that. On her arrival it was the most wonderful surprise to be blessed with a healthy daughter and I advocate for everyone to go that way, let the best surprise be one that you share with your husband / wife / partner / significant other / your very closest family. Don’t have a reveal until it is revealed to you. It’s just amazing that way.

These gender reveal are going out of hand. The fact that these people are going to be parents or are already, scares me. Couldn't they just eat a cake??

How about instead of coloring natural wonders we stick to like back yard fountain? If you must do a gender reveal, keep it small at keep it private and keep it on your own property.

Either I’m getting old or this is a fad on par with keeping innocent small dogs as a goddamned accessory in your handbag. I don’t UNDERSTAND this “gender reveal” bullshìt - especially considering that you can’t actually KNOW the gender before the kid is born and self aware. All you can know is physical sex, so even the term is wrong - admittedly I’m a bit of a stickler about language - but even if you called it “physical sex reveal party” it remains outlandishly strange to me. And, honestly, kind of stupid. Like, we all KNOW you’d kill your grandmother on camera to get Instagram likes, but that still doesn’t make it RIGHT.

Listen... if you wanna do a gender reveal.. get a colored cake and invite people to your home.
