There was a time where I adopted dogs that needed hospice care. There are people that cannot afford treatments and leave them at shelters because they think they have a better chance. There are charities that can help with this , don't let your dog pass away without his person.

Also, if you're prepared for and committed to getting a dog, please adopt from a shelter. If you're going to be gone 10 hours a day for work, get a cat.

I knew it was silly, but I felt guilty "replacing" my dog. I got a rescue and it felt like honoring my dog- not replacing her.

Our little rescue girl smiles. It’s so lovely, her dad comes home and she’s up on the sofa smiling at him. She also grins when she’s asleep. She’s too gorgeous!

German proverb: "Daß mir der Hund das Liebste sei, sagst du, o Mensch, sei Sünde? Der Hund blieb mir im Sturme treu, der Mensch nicht mal im Winde." (translates mostl to "Men say it's a sin I prefer dogs over their kin, but dog stayed at my side in a storm while men left me during the breeze.")

The best part of my day is coming home and seeing my dog's feet dancing with excitement under the curtain. All that for me. That's love.

Rescue dogs are amazing. I had two rescue pitties. One has sadly passed but the other is still with us.
