Since the famous conjoined twin Abby Hensel tied the knot with army veteran Joshua Bowling, the husband has been embroiled in a paternity case filed by another woman. The scandal follows the recent response where Abby and her sister Brittany fired back at trolls.

34-year-old Joshua, who now works as a medic, was dragged into a lawsuit filed in October 2023, almost two years after he and Abby secretly wed in November 2021.

The paternity case was filed by Joshua’s ex-wife, 33-year-old Annica Bowling, against Joshua and another respondent, Gavin Vatnsdal, in a Minnesota court, The New York Post reported.

Us Magazine reported that Joshua and Gavin have been requested to submit their DNA to determine paternity.

As per The Post, court records showed that a “genetic test report” had been added to the file on March 7, 2024, but the details and results are still not publicly available.

Annica and Joshua married in 2010 and have one daughter together, eight-year-old Isabella, whom they share joint custody of, according to court documents obtained by The Post.

Nevertheless, the court documents state that Isabella is the former spouses’ only shared child, who was born while they were still married.

In 2019, the parents broke up, and Annica subsequently gave birth to another daughter in 2020. She is now three years old.

According to The Post, it is the three-year-old child whose paternity is currently being contested. However, court documents did not make this detail available, as she is a minor.

Moreover, in Annica and Joshua’s 2022 divorce papers, the younger daughter is referred to as “Isabella’s half-sister.”

Joshua and the conjoined twins reportedly have a close relationship with Isabella, who was a guest at the wedding and has appeared in a handful of photographs on social media with both sides of her family.

There have also been pictures showing the now-stepmother Abby laughing with Isabella and hugging her.

The 34-year-old Minnesota twins work as fifth-grade teachers in their home state. They first shared their story in 1996 on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

However, it was on the TLC reality show “Abby & Brittany” that the public got to know more details about their daily lives.

The TV series followed them as they prepared to graduate from Minnesota’s Bethel College and later traveled to Europe.

The sisters are dicephalous-conjoined twins, which means they were born fused together at the torso.

Abby and Brittany have separate spinal cords, brains, hearts, and other organs but share those located below the waist. While Brittany controls the left side of their body, Abby controls the right.

“People have been curious about us since we were born, for obvious reasons,” the twins said in the first episode of the reality show.

“But our parents never let us use that as an excuse. We were raised to believe we could do anything we wanted to do,” they further explained.

The sisters have always kept low profiles and were never interested in revealing information about their love lives.

“The whole world doesn’t need to know who we’re dating or what we’re gonna do and everything,” Brittany said in the 2006 documentary “Joined for Life: Abby & Brittany Turn 16.”
