Skirts And Heels Are Not Just For Women, This Guy Proves That Perfectly (30 Pics)
InterviewMost of us believe that clothes have “genders.” Our society has the idea that some things are “fitting” for a man or woman to wear, and some aren’t. However, some open-minded people wear whatever they want and express themselves freely, not needing to live up to any stereotype. Like the inspiring Mark Bryan, who proves it’s finally time to eliminate gender stereotypes, especially in clothing.
Who Is Mark Bryan?
Meet Mark Bryan, a man who wears skirts and heels. Mark is an American robotic engineer who lives in Germany. He lives his life like every other person, except that he challenges gender stereotypes every day. He almost always wears a skirt and heels while going to work, to the town, and even at home. And let’s just say he looks fabulous while he does.

Mark Believes That Clothes Have No Gender
damn, with such good looking legs, it would be pity to hide them in trousers...
Mark told Bored Panda: “I dress like this because I can. Just to be different. I have always admired the women that wore tight skirts and heels. Not sexually, but the power they presented. I don’t dress to be sexual, but to dress like any professional woman would. To me, clothes have no gender. I prefer skirts to dresses. Dresses don’t allow me to mix the genders. I prefer a ‘masculine’ look above the waist and a non-gendered look below the waist. It’s all about clothes having no gender.”
He Has So Many Fashionable Options to Choose From
We asked Mark what inspires him to wear heels and skirts: “All the fashion options. With men’s pants, you have just a few color options: black, gray, navy, and brown, and no pants with prints. With skirts, you can add reds, green, brighter blues, floral prints, animal prints, etc. Same with shoes, but then you also have many more styles and heel types. Plus you can wear open-toed shoes when the weather is nice.”
His Clothes Make Him Feel Empowered
This makes me so happy to see! My male partner is also dabbling in wearing skirts at home. His view is nothing separates trousers from a skirt other than a seam, and he says it's so freeing and comfortable, especially in summer! I love his bravery <3
“I feel no different as to me, it’s just clothes. Naturally, on a cold or windy day, it physically feels different. When wearing heels, I feel taller, but also empowered for some reason. In all, maybe having the inner strength to have the confidence to wear non-conforming clothing has also given me the confidence and strength to handle my pressures at work,” said Mark when asked how wearing heels and skirts makes him feel.
What Does Mark Bryan Do for Work?
We already know Mark Bryan, the engineer who works 45-hour weeks. But it’s interesting to know that he also models and works as an influencer on a part-time basis. Apart from that, he is also the head coach of a football team. He is currently restoring his 1967 Porsche 911, and his wife keeps him busy with her “honey-do-list.”
How Does He Find Feminine Clothes That Fit Him?
A man who wears skirts and heels shared what it’s like to find feminine clothes that fit him: “I am 6’ tall and weigh around 165 lbs. I also have medium to small feet. I wear a size 8.5 US and 41 in Europe. I have a 29” waist, so I wear a size 8 skirt in the US or a 38 in Europe. I also work out 2–3 times a week. So finding clothes my size is no problem.”
When Did Mark Start Wearing Heels?
“Old girlfriend in college asked me to dance with her with us both wearing heels. We did this for more than a year. I got very good at walking and moving in heels. Throughout the years, I have worn heels off and on, but not with skirts. I just started wearing heels with skirts in the last 5 years. It was suggested that I would look a lot better in a skirt and heels than pants and heels,” shared Mark when asked how he decided to start wearing heels and skirts.
What Is It Like for Men Wearing Heels?
“I buy most of my heels online so that I can try them at home. This way I can have some shoe time and try going up and down the stairs. Feel how much they slip, the stability when testing stilettos. I’ll also wear them while sitting for half an hour or so. If they hurt right out of the box, then back in the box they go. So having a good comfortable shoe is important, but so is the style.”
“My favorite is a 5-inch stiletto. I just love the way they make me look and the feeling they give. My least favorite thing is walking on uneven surfaces like a cobblestone walkway or a sidewalk with pavers that have gaps big enough to swallow a stiletto heel.”
... and highly confusing - I hope that was what he was going for!
Load More Replies...He won’t be getting varicose veins. There is no indication for that here.
Load More Replies...This is definitely in the top 3 for me. I love the darker colors of the skirt and jacket with that eye catching pop of color with the tie and shoes! Really lovely
O-M-G LOOK AT THIS DUDES LEGS, THERE FREAKING BETTER THAN MINEEEEEEEEE UUGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH but hey they look hella nice
This is my least favorite look so far. I was with him up to this but this one looks totally contrived. The fabric of the skirt and jacket looks like it doesn't match. Also the traditional male look above the waist just clashes horribly with those red scrappy shoes that don't look like they should be going to work !
I might change the heels to a classic pump to fit the classic business suit look better. Cross straps too sexy for this business look.
I think the jacket is a tad too long, but the shoes and tie are fierce!
Love the jacket and nice MENS shirt with fabulous tie... everything else can go.
idk those heels look a lot better than the jacket
Load More Replies...I would bet he's bi, yes. Or perhaps he's channeling his inner Bruce Jenner.
Load More Replies...Mark Describes His Favorite ‘Man’ Skirt
If he would be open to it and ear cuff would add some dimensions to the outfits.
Mark described his favorite style to wear: “I wear almost exclusively pencil skirts and stiletto heels. I don’t wear dresses as that is not my style, which is presenting as the man above the waist, with non-gendered clothing below the waist. I prefer my skirts at the knee plus or minus an inch or two. My average heel height for a week is around 4 inches.”
What Are People’s Reactions to Guys in Skirts?
Lots of football helmets. A high-heel wearing skirt-wearing man who plays football! I like it!
He described how people react to him. Mark said that women, usually around the age of 30 to 40, give him compliments. Men make comments or ask questions but usually will not compliment his appearance.
“Take a person with bright green hair. Green hair is not normal. You look up and see this person, your mind tells you it’s a person with green hair, you think to yourself, that’s odd or interesting, then you go back to do what you were doing and don’t give it another thought. I believe this is the same when people see me in a skirt and heels.”
Mark has been happily married for 11 years and gets full support from his wife and family. “My wife often makes suggestions on what I should wear. My daughter wishes she could borrow my shoes at times.”
He Has Advice for Men Wearing Skirts and Heels
Mark shared some advice for men who want to wear skirts and heels but are too afraid. “If you are asking about heels, then I would say to start with a low heel and work your way up as your confidence gets higher. You cannot be afraid. Some people are like animals, they attack the weak. Show confidence and show the world you are not afraid and nobody will bother you. The only fear you have is fear itself. Skirts? Just do it. Maybe not with high heels, but skirts are much more acceptable on a man than a man wearing heels.”
What Is the History of Men Wearing Skirts?
Men have been wearing skirts since ancient times. In the Kingdom of Sumer in Mesopotamia, men wore fur skirts tied to a belt called Kaunakes, considered ritual attire. In 2130 BC, men in the Old Kingdom of Egypt wore wraparound skirts called Shendyt. The Middle Kingdom of Egypt saw the rise of men wearing longer kilts, almost like skirts, reaching from the waist to ankles, sometimes hanging from the armpits.
Mark Believes That His Clothes Shouldn’t Define Him
“I am old enough to remember that in school, the girls could not wear pants. Pants have now become a non-gendered article of clothing. So why can't skirts and heels be non-gendered? Besides, men wore heels before women did. Maybe not today’s stiletto-style heels, but men did wear heels before women.”
“I do this for non-sexual reasons. Men can wear this style without being labeled as gay or queer. I don’t act like a sissy, which is one of the most frequent comments I get from men. They just assume I’m gay and a sissy until they start talking to me. I am just an average, normal, straight, and happily married guy. I love beautiful women, Porsche, and I just want to incorporate a skirt and heels into my daily wardrobe.”
First ones I don't really like - more because they look like the foot isn't in the shoe comfortably.
He’s put a lot of time, thought and money into his clothes and shoes!
I am jealous of his wardrobe and those legs! He absolutely rocks a skirt and a good pair of heels..
Load More Replies...Gender aside, (because isn't that way this is about?) his outfit coordination is on point! Love the shoes, skirt, tie colours
that‘s what i was thinking. he‘s got a great sense of style.
Load More Replies...I'm not sure why he's breaking stereotypes as high heals were originally worn by butchers, who were nearly all men, to stop the blood soaking into the bottom of their trousers.
Absolutely agree, just like back in the 16\1700s, Women's theatrical parts were played by men, however, that was then, this is now. He is most definitely breaking today's societal standard of gender norms, and I'm here for it!
Load More Replies...I agree. And honestly, I would imagine that a skirt would be more comfortable for anyone with testicles...
Load More Replies...Why is he considering a skirt and heels "non-gendered" but a shirt and tie as masculine?
He put ‘masculine’ in quotes, as he prefers things on top that are considered masculine but as he believes clothing has no gender, he just put quotes around it.
Load More Replies...I can understand the skirts, but if I were a man, I'd be glad to ditch any and all high heels. I never wear them as a woman either.
He dresses well - I have no problem with men in skirts/dresses/heels. But who in their right mind wears 5" stilettos ? Those things are so bad for your body.
Same here...I cant even wear heals at all. At 6 foot as a woman, I would be towering over everyone except my tallest colleagues. AND I would be falling over all the time.
Load More Replies...90 photos? Seriously? He has an impressive collection of pencil skirts, though. If he's wearing heels every day, even at home, he's begging for a world of foot and hamstring problems down the road.
@Aunt Messy -You are correct! Lots of foot problems! Not a great trade off indeed... I’d rather be able to walk in my later years without having tremendous MEDICAL ISSUES and HIGH MEDICAL BILLS TO CORRECT THE FOOT PROBLEMS!
Load More Replies...Personally I don't like heels because they hurt. This guy looks really good in them though.
Car to bar shoes... when there's little walking involved. The rest of the time? BOOTS! My favourite are Fly boots.
Load More Replies...We don’t want heels either! Those things hurt and are hard to walk in!
Load More Replies...I’m starting to suspect someone used an ex-girlfriend’s photo and name to post these awful comments. Greta Jaruševičiūtė
Thanks for bringing that up. Someone is using a photo editor's name and picture. I've contacted Bored Panda to let them know that someone stole her identity to post here.
Load More Replies...Not impressed with his use of the word "sissy." Women fought to wear pants. Pants are more comfortable, no need to keep your knees together, you can move in any way and not be exposed. We also love flats, loafers, sneakers because some sadists design heels. Interesting he sees exactly the opposite way.
Good for him doing and wearing what he wants. I just can't help but think - instead of men starting to wear heels, everyone should stop wearing them. Sure, they look fabulous but wearing them for 8+ hours every day just isn't good for anyone's health.
Those shoes look like torture. any heels i have ever worn have hurt so bad after an hour or two. No idea why anyone would want to wear them
I’m with you on that! Stilettos are horrible to you feet and your body! I use to wear heels, but they were only 3-4” high. I’m glad I only wore them for only a year or so. I KNOW BETTER NOW!
Load More Replies...A friend of mine (who also lives in Germany) only wears skirts and she used to tell me "the day men discover how comfortable skirts are they will wear them all day".
I don't mind at all if he wants to wear skirts and heals. I am a little confused by the wording though, I hope he got a chance to see what people put on the internet before being quoted. He says at one point clothes have no gender, then says dresses don't allow him to mix the genders, seeming (though this may not be correct) to imply clothes do have a gender. Perhaps what he meant was more that he tries to challenge 'our' concept of gendered clothes. One could say that a skirt is feminine, or masculine, both or neither, and you'd all be right. It is what you decide it means, if it means anything at all, because technically all it means is your groin gets covered by a blend of plastic or cotton, etc. Human beings have been assigning and removing meaning from inanimate objects for as long as they have existed.
Love the outfits and shoes and legs but please tell this uncle not to wear them ever again he should rather try some good pairs of yeans and trousers and good manly shoes he would absolutely rock that this not so much woman barely wear these type of clothes
This is amazing. Women don't need to change the woman power level, men do.
Okay my main question here is where does he find his shoes?? I wear a US women’s size 12 or 13 which is a 10-11 in men’s (I think my European women’s size is 44?). Anyways, a lot of men wear size 10+ So he had to have bought most of these shoes in a pretty big women’s size. I can’t find good heels hardly anywhere!!
Is it wrong for me to "hate" how good he looks when I struggle everyday? lol! I am so envious of his shoe collection and he looks soooo fabulous!
'Clothes have no gender !' 'Also, I prefer the man look above the waist' :D
He put the word masculine in quotes dude. Also, masculine is just a style of clothing to him, I’m guessing. Or he is just using the word to describe the kind of shirts he likes.
Load More Replies...I always thought pants were invented to make men mean and smelly! It seemed to me when a child, women around me in skirts, smelled better than men in their suits and pants!
Works for me! I have rather weak ankles so can't manage stilettos, but block heel boots, sure! And like Mark, I prefer knee-length skirts. Here in small-town northern New York, I wear them year-round (with tights in Winter) to stores, post office, doctor, and with friends. No one minds. Many appreciate the look and the change.
I have been with a cheating spouse before and trust me I know how it feels, those suspicions are not mere paranoia. If you suspect that he/She is cheating, they might actually be. I hired a Cyber Genius who helped me install monitoring bugs on my ex's phone that diverted all his activities to my phone remotely.(h a c k i n g l o o p 6 @ g m a i l. c o m ) is the man for the job with a very high level of professionalism and highly reliable. I really enjoyed working with him and the few friends I told have been nothing but thankful to me for the referral.
Sure, thag's not something we see everyday... but he's happy and confortable with this? Good for him! We are in no position to judge =)
This Guy Proves That Perfectly... No, that is the opposite of what this guy is doing. What he is doing is normalizing clothing that was incorporated into modern society (especially the workplace) specifically to keep women vulnerable through discomfort and objectification. He is wearing the literal modern tools of gender oppression, and you all think it is great just because he is a man.
I love it! Thank you for being the awesome person you are, we need more people like you in the world! Fabulous!
Sorry, but from his poses, etc. this appears to be a fetish more than a fashion choice.
He makes a good point as to clothes shouldn’t have a ‘gender’. Doesn’t look bad in the skirts.
What you see before you is just a guy that loves "women's" clothes. Notice he strictly wears power suits and the like. Those shoes? Incredible. Legs? Popping. Confidence? Stratospherical.
Such a nice butt (sorry, I know I am being sexist towards men)
Most guys overdo it when they try to do fem but this guy does it perfect
I never could understand why men wore pants and women wore skirts. Anatomically, it makes more sense for men to have the freedom of a skirt (no more dressing left or right) and women to have the sanitary aspect of wearing pants (always a place to secure feminine hygiene products).
No, skirts/dresses were practical for females (and still are) for the purpose of being able to squat to pee, whereas men don't need to squat. A menstrual pad can be affixed via a belt around the waist, they used to be very recently.
Load More Replies...And here I am, a woman, wearing pants and Oxford everyday cuz they're sooo comfy. High heels to work? That's torture.
I am so jealous at how well he carries wearing heels! Sadly, I have to stick to flats these days! I especially love the dark purple strappy ones. This man has impeccable taste and style!
Honestly I’m a bit worried for the physical health of anyone who wears 4-5 inch heels everyday 😥 But his fashion sense *is* on point!
Omg, if I had legs like that, I'd want to wear skirts and heels all the time too! 👌🏻
Mark has a better butt, legs, and fashion sense than I do! I salute him and support his fashion choices wholeheartedly, but I didn’t like him equating “gay” with “sissy”. I hope he learns to stop that.
guys look better in skirts/dresses/heels than girlsdo if you ask me
What a great pair of legs, it's nice to see man wearing a skirt, more men should were them. i am a crossdresser and i love wearing skirts and dresses.
I hate that people automatically think that a man wearing skirts is gay or just transitioning. Heels used to be "male" shoes. Random fact, butchers wore them.
Not sure why anybody would voluntarily adopt low range of movement, chafing legs and achy feet just to get a pert looking ass, but ot each their own. The same rules appliy for guys, though: If you got wide calves, don't use stilettos. You need a slightly bigger heel, or you look unbalanced - as the guy does in some of the pics. And since we are not on the 1980s, the same goes for balancing out top and bottom. There is sometimes too much bulk at the top and too slim a silhouette at the bottom.
My heart was broken. I never believed I would get my ex back until Dr Akhigbe brought my ex in 48hrs with a powerful love spell. It is reliable to get a positive result, contact the spell caster for a love spell by email: drakhigbespellhome7@gmail.com or WhatsApp on +2349021374574.
honestly, I don't envy him at all. I, as a woman, have always hated heels, which slaughtered my foot and stretched my achilles tendon, which is not in its best position with heels, especially so high. moreover, I hate the tights that tighten, come down, are uncomfortable and saw you in the waist. finally, especially in winter, the skirt is a curse, it leaves your legs in the cold and frost. I have always preferred trousers of any type and low shoes, especially gymnastic ones, but also the more elegant ones. I gladly leave these things to men, if they prefer to use them, no envy and no sense of theft. imagine, women have struggled to put on trousers, we much more magnanimously give them skirts.
damn mark has good legs fit for the heels and skirts i wonder what work out he is doing to his legs they roock!!
Don't care what the circumstance....if you are comfortable and it gives you joy.... the very best fashion item is a happy smile!!!
(this comment probably isn't going to be understood in this 'new' era but) not usually one for wanting articles shortened but big thanks to the editor for cutting back on this one, even 30 pics were a bit too much - even as a gay male I still can't understand the fascination/want men have for wearing women's clothing ... call me old fashion, but pick a #&%*!@ lane before this man-trans-pansexual-gender-bending-fluidity nightmare gets completely out of hand - the only tranny I want to read about is one that provides me with transportation!
Well, you don't have to "get" it. Just let us beautiful cross-dressers live.
Load More Replies...This is the most nonsensical statement I've read today, "I don’t wear dresses as that is not my style, which is presenting as the man above the waist, with non-gendered clothing below the waist." WTF?! Why does he consider what he wears on top as male, but the skirts and heels are "non-gendered"?
I LOVE him, particularly because he is straight! This man is BRAVE. The only way to rock this is with a solid sense of style and he has it or has good advisors. I think some of the skirts veer too tight and short - bordering "hooker" - but he generally is rocking the concept.
If he wears a pleated plaid skirt...is it a skirt or is it a tight kilt? Inquiring minds want to know
Good point. IF I was a man and I wanted to wear a skirt, and felt nervous, I think I would start with a kilt, until I felt more confident.

Load More Replies...Yeah we are so weird! Isn't it great? And notice how the only people who disprove of him are small-minded and small-other-parted men who feel it's their right to dictate what others wear?
Load More Replies...It genuinely does not look horrible. He looks stylish. Our social constructs make us think people should dress a certain way but they are artificial constructs. This guy has the confidence to be himself and he looks great. Fair play to him!
Load More Replies...Shame though. You probably won't agree, or see it this way, but it's just so much more pleasant being accepting and not having an issue with how others live. Of course you'll probably not see it as having an impact on you at all - but you cared enough to make a point here on BP! So it's had an impact and, even if small, it's a negative one. Clothing and who wears what is just a social construct.

The same rules appliy for guys, though: If you got wide calves, don't use stilettos. You need a slightly bigger heel, or you look unbalanced - as the guy does in some of the pics. And since we are not on the 1980s, the same goes for balancing out top and bottom. There is sometimes too much bulk at the top and too slim a silhouette at the bottom.

honestly, I don't envy him at all.

Load More Replies...if he has a wife she probably supports him, CLOTHES HAVE NO GENDER
Load More Replies...I bet he gets a Brazilian wax on his butt.... for his wife. LOL
Load More Replies...Yep, exactly what I was thing he wants attention, regardless of what “kind” it is.
