Entitled people are everywhere, and they’re a breed unto themselves. Unfortunately, dealing with them is another matter. People who work customer-facing jobs are often at the mercy of rude and demanding people. We’ve all heard horror stories about what retail workers must endure. But what about high-end hotels or swanky places? You probably wouldn’t imagine demanding people worming their way into such locations, would you?

Unfortunately, even the top hotels can’t keep entitled guests out. Armed with expectations as grand as the places they visit, they’re always ready to unleash their wrath on the poor, unsuspecting staff. That’s precisely what one concierge faced when a rude guest kept bugging her. Her boyfriend couldn’t wait to relay everything to Reddit and share how his girlfriend exacted her revenge.

It feels great to be equally petty with a rude guest, and that’s exactly what this concierge did

The author’s girlfriend, Yue, is a concierge who was confronted by a customer who began snapping his fingers in her face and saying, “Hey, little girl, I need help now”

She shocked the man by copying his rude actions and told him he’d only get an economy room, but he kept insisting he was owed an upgrade since he was a “premium customer”

Yue explained that he wouldn’t get upgraded without paying extra, so the pushy guy threatened to cancel his booking, and the concierge decided to comply with his threat

The guy quickly backtracked and decided to accept the room, but Yue told him all the rooms were fully booked for the night

Enraged, the man immediately asked for the manager, to which Yue replied, “I am the manager” because she had been promoted a month earlier

The original poster (OP) is a man who took to Reddit to share how his girlfriend, Yue, dealt with a work situation in a satisfyingly petty way. He mentioned that she works at a high-end Niagara Falls hotel and that he often picks her up after work because he loves to watch her deal with rude customers.

Yue was working at the check-in desk recently, and OP was in the lobby nearby. That’s when an entitled guest approached and tried to grab her attention. She was patient and told him to wait until she checked in another guest. The man didn’t like that and started snapping his fingers in her face and disrespected her by calling her a little girl.

The poster said that his girlfriend got “a look of pure sass and hate” in her eyes and copied exactly what the man did. She even called him a “little boy” and told him, “I am currently with a guest, [you’re] going to have to wait a few minutes [for me] to finish.” This shocked the guy, who started ranting about being a premium customer.

To put him in his place, Yue told him he actually had a basic economy room booking. But the man didn’t stop there, and he kept pushing for an upgrade at no extra cost even though Yue told him that she could not do that. Entitled guests just don’t know when to stop! The man then decided to change tactics and threatened to cancel his booking.

That’s when Yue asked him, “So, sir, you want to cancel your booking?” The guy decided to challenge her, but he was in for a surprise because she immediately canceled it. The man realized then that his behavior wouldn’t be tolerated, so he decided to compromise and take the initial room she had mentioned. The author said that his girlfriend gave the man a big smile and told him there were no bookings available for the night.

This petty back-and-forth is precisely what many people in the service industry wish they could do if their jobs weren’t in the balance. Luckily for Yue, she had an ace up her sleeve. When the man could no longer take it, he immediately asked to speak to the manager. Yue put the final nail in the coffin and told him she was the manager! The poster added later that his girlfriend had been promoted a month before. This fiery exchange between her and the rude guest ended well because the man didn’t stay in the hotel.

Many commenters were impressed by Yue’s confidence and told the poster that he should marry her as soon as possible. He replied in the comments saying, “We have been talking about it but we have been together about 6 months. That and I’m a widower, so take our time we must.” Many commenters also encouraged him to stick with her and not let her go, to which he replied, “I don’t plan on it, I have been the most lucky man on the planet, I’m a widower. That’s not the lucky part. Lucky part is I’ve found my soulmate. Not once but twice.”

Being in the service industry doesn’t mean guests and customers have the right to say anything they want or act in such horrible ways. Luckily, the poster’s girlfriend was strong-willed and decided to stand up against the man’s bad behavior. His sense of entitlement was strong enough but not as strong as her desire to be petty.

With such terrible customers and guests, it’s no wonder that people often don’t want to take up these kinds of jobs. The post got a lot of attention and received 6.2K upvotes and over 300 comments, with people applauding Yue’s ability to handle the tense situation. What do you think about the guest’s behavior, and how would you have dealt with that kind of entitled person?

Community members completely supported Yue’s actions and encouraged the poster to wife her up

Is it really so difficult for people to read what they've typed before sending it out for the whole world to try to read?

I actually struggled a little too, the sentences blend into each other. I thought she was “working as a concierge lately” but she was “working as a concierge. (New sentence) Lately…” I wonder if people who type like this realize that they’re making it very difficult for other people to understand what they’re trying to say 😬 I never understand why some people flat out refuse to use periods and commas….like for real, why?

This os perfect and how entitled a$$holes should be treated. I hate how some people think throwing a temper tantrum is ok and a way to get free stuff and some businesses actually reward them for that. Team Yue!

I loved her reply to the man- so petty and such a good comeback!

When did men think it was acceptable to snap their fingers in a woman's face, or anyone's face for that matter. Who raised that clown?

Sounds made up. So poorly written. I've live in NF my whole life, there are just hotels, nothing is "high end". Cute little story though
