Two Reddit threads have recently sparked a flurry of responses, exposing dark secrets of different companies that could potentially tarnish their reputation. One post asked Redditors to reveal any company secrets that would ruin the company's image if made public. Another post encouraged people to spill the beans on any juicy secrets about their employer that they believed the public should know.

The responses were shocking and eye-opening, to say the least. One user claimed that their former employer, a well-known food chain, routinely served expired and rotten food to customers. Another user alleged that their company deliberately hired women for lower salaries than men.

Some people revealed that their employers had been involved in various illegal activities, including embezzlement and tax evasion. Others shared information about companies that engaged in unethical practices like exploiting workers, lying to customers, and using harmful chemicals in their products. But they all highlight the need for transparency and accountability in the corporate world.

Nestle markets their formula milk in third-world countries as better than breastfeeding. Formula is sold as a powder, to be reconstituted with water. Obviously water is an issue in many of those third world countries, being unclean and such. So the infants are fed contaminated water, giving them many diseases and causing many, many deaths. Also, a mother will stop being able to produce milk after a certain amount of time. The prices on the formula will often be too much, they won't be able to buy more, but their bodies can't produce milk anymore either. So there is lots of starvation. Please read up on the monstrosity that is nestle if you haven't already.

I live near one of the places Nestle has been illegally extracting water for decades: Southern California. Yes, through our decades of drought, Nestle was pulling water to sell back to us on the strength of a license that expired in the 80s. I cannot stress this enough: FÜCK NESTLÉ.

40 Company Secrets These People Have Revealed Since They Don't Work There Anymore Or Just Don't Care A New Zealand owned burger chain (that I worked at for 6 years during school/college) sent all it's staff out a "Style Manual", to go with it's new uniform. It recommended we wear MAC makeup (which is $60 a bottle over here), and said, quote: "leave for work looking hot enough to take a selfie #burgerfuel #makeup #hot #selfie". They introduced short shorts, which only went up to size 10, so a chubby girl at my work was reduced to tears having to wear men's shorts. As a manager, I deliberately walked in looking like utter c**p and refusing to wear their precious shorts (my boss bought them a size too small on purpose so everyone's asses were hanging out). I let everyone on my shift wear what they wanted until the day I left. We didn't get paid enough to be patty-flipping strippers. What the flipping f**k.

You'll see people literally fighting for PETA, but PETA doesn't give two shits about the animals they "rescue". Most often they'll be sent to a kill shelter without a second thought. F**k PETA.

Actually PETA supports not a single real project that helps animals and their shelters are dead holes. PETA wants to stop each and any form of keeping animals as pets or for food in any way. They want all animals in the wild in a way that would let several species go extinct, but they deem those 'unnatural' and actually work towards this. If PETA could, they would kill any domesticated pet. They also only support protests and activism but go so far to sabotage projects that would actually work. They are utterly disgusting and have done no good at all, but they claim all successes for themselves even when they weren't involved at all or only printed a few posters for 'awareness' but did nothing else. They even reject the idea of wildlife refuges and educational projects as too much interjection and animal exploitation.

When they "steal" animals out of people's yards do we know what kind of condition they are in in the first place...like are they in such bad shape that warrants euthanization? I don't agree with PETA's agenda and I think they are a horrible organization but I feel it needs to be said that euthanasia is the most humane thing to do for animals that do not have a chance at any kind of quality of life. We have this cultural sense that death is the absolute worst thing that can ever happen to any being and it's just not true.

I'm not sure this is 100% accurate. There was a corporate campaign years ago that spent millions of dollars to smear them when they were agitating against factory farms. It spread like wildfire that they do all sorts of nefarious things. They could do some of those things, but if your evidence is hearsay take it with a lump of salt.

This, with the lack of substance in the allegations that I’ve seen so far ( I’m not aPETA activist, and am more than happy to see some corroborated allegations) at least makes me start to suspect that there is a lot of smearing going on. This is a separate issue to whetherr folk agree with their MO.

If you take time to research, you will find that these are almost all rumors. They must file an annual report to the state authorities. PETA doesn't keep the majority of animals they rescue - they go to other legitimate shelters for adoption. The ones that re kept are mostly ones for which euthanasia is the only compassionate option. Many of the animals they rescue are too ill, or aggressive from being driven mad by being kept alone at the end of a chain as a cheap alarm system. The organization is uncompromising in its view that animals are equal to human animals. They also provide food and veterinary services to those who can't afford them. A great deal of the work they do against animal testing and factory farming is through direct communication with the organizations and corporations themselves.

So, a really facking simple Google search returns that PETA are clear that they euthanise animals where there is no hope of recovery for a number of reasons. This is on their own website, so no they’re not hiding anything, and it’s hardly a controversial ethical stance. This post without further explanation or evidence could, if I were cynical, be seen as a clear case of lying by omission .

I don't feel like it makes any significant difference anyway. Most people are "aware" of breast cancer, they just think it can't / won't happen to them. Seeing a pink sweatshirt or garbage truck won't change that.

The difference between raising awareness and raising money for cancer is the money. Specifically: where the money ends up. Does it end up in some retailer's pocket, or somewhere useful where it could help cure/fight cancer?

Oh dear cheese and crackers. Let's unravel this for people that don't understand. Work will set you free was written in German on the gates of Auschwitz-Birkenau, giving the Jewish prisoners a false sense of hope that if they worked hard enough they would be set free. They weren't set free and the majority of them died, or died later from complications. These prisoners were so starved that they couldn't even eat rice. They had to drink rice water because their stomachs were so used to not having food. This is very problematic. I cannot believe that they would be that ignorant to put work will set you free on the storage door frame. :/

Dental Therapist here - the acid causes erosion (dissolving of the teeth) while the sugar feeds the bacteria that causes caries (decay) so the two together in one drink that bathes the teeth, often sipped over long periods of time, is very damaging to teeth. To reduce damage have soft drink with meals and water only between meals.

Well, well, well, it looks like Coca-Cola has been keeping secrets like a kid with a stash of candy. It seems that the only thing they're bottling up is their own dirty laundry. From mysterious murders to bribing dentists, Coca-Cola is serving up more than just a refreshing drink. Who knew that the real thing was corruption and scandal? Maybe next time they should consider adding a warning label: "May cause moral decay".

Why am I not surprised. I also heard that they pass out forms to fill out for government benefits as well! The Waltons don’t want to pay their employees livable wages as well as expecting employees to stay past their scheduled time but are forced to clock out as overtime isn’t allowed. They must clean up the store for the following day and keep ALL employees work under 32 hours to eliminate the rights for healthcare too!!! WalMart is an evil corporation!

Da-ang!!! You just gave me flashbacks of working at Kmart 🙉 They'd literally work me up to 39¾hrs. (40hrs is when benefits kick in for full-timers around here.) But the minute you'd put in for your "paid" vacation, they'd cut you down to almost no hours bc they'd average out your previous month's wages to figure it 😾🖕🦬💩💩💩

If a large corporation/ super rich people are trying to convince you that something is in your best interest, look at the issue more closely. And at (US) state elections, if the candidate is backed by the super rich, be skeptical about promises to improve the lives of regular people. This all sounds obvious and common sense, but, as we have seen, our educational system has failed at teaching critical thinking skills.

Wal mart also has a cheer song that the employees sing after their morning meeting before the store opens up. It’s pretty bizarre. I used to work for a general contractor that built Walmarts and I’ve seen it done.

Yep. Dollar General does this, too. The whole video amounts to, "Unions are ineffective and don't do anything for you but take your money." Oh yeah, then why are you pissing your pants about it? You produced this whole video because you're looking out for my best interests out of the goodness of your hearts?

so? this is not secret, this doesn't hurt their reputation. And guess what? It is 100% legal, because if Unions have the right to Unionize, then the companies are entitled the same right to counter with their own campaign. There was even a supreme court case over a california law years back that banned companies from counter-unionizing efforts, California lost unanimously

40 Company Secrets These People Have Revealed Since They Don't Work There Anymore Or Just Don't Care On December 3, 1984, Union Carbide--now part of Dow--accidentally killed 5,000 residents of Bhopal, India, when its pesticide plant sprung a leak. It abandoned the plant without cleaning it up, and since then, an estimated 15,000 more people have died from complications, most resulting from chemicals released into the groundwater. Although legal investigations have consistently pinpointed Union Carbide as culprit, both Union Carbide and Dow have had to publicly deny these findings. After the accident, Union Carbide compensated victims' families between US$300 and US$500 per victim.

But maybe more convoluted than first glance. http://edition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapcf/06/07/india.bhopal.verdict/index.html and https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/bhopal-gas-tragedy-1984-verdict-deadliest-industrial-disaster-how-it-happened-deaths-compensation-2346264-2023-03-14 Might be just a**e covering but the company claimed it was sabotage not negligence. Can't find anything to back that one up though. I have a friend who is a explosive expert. Started in the military and made it into demolition, mining construction. He has worked all over Africa. With little or know health and safety there are many accidents and deaths. When someone dies sometimes the don't even bother digging the body out if it's costly. The call the widow and give her 500 USD and make them sign wavers etc so the can't claim.

I live in Bhopal near Union carbide , still I can see people suffering from many diseases even they are passing on genetically. The land around union carbide is uncultivable , and water is unfit to drink. It still gives me chills when I think how people died sleeping not knowing what is happening to them , many of them jumped into upper lake to save themselves . My father was one of the survivors and he told us the horrors of that night. The money which was given didn't reach many of the families and now the people are forced to live in poverty and battling with diseases

40 Company Secrets These People Have Revealed Since They Don't Work There Anymore Or Just Don't Care Not really a "company secret" but it is pretty vile. I used to work at Waffle House. I had just come in to start my overnight shift and I was doing my walkthrough, making a list of things for 2nd shift to finish before they left. I checked the steam-tables and found sausage gravy and chili in it. Sausage gravy shouldn't be in the steam tables as long as this had. It gets too runny. Whatever, happens all the time, they don't usually serve it, they're just too lazy to clean it out because it cakes to the sides. Then I take the lid off the chili. Gross white fuzzy mold on top. And it's the stinky type. You could smell it the moment the lid came off. I called my manager over to show him. There was obviously something wrong if it was growing mold. Either sat there way too long, or steam table temps were messed up, or whatever. Don't know, don't care. His job, so I called him over. He *immediately* stirs it up and says it's fine. Ummm.. WHAT? He says it's not a problem, go ahead and serve it. I told him there's no way I can do that. He pulls me in close, like he's telling me a secret, and says we have to sell that chili because we have no chili made to replace it, and, anyway, food costs are too high. I told him I didn't care, and I'd be throwing it away. He's insistent. "Throw it away if you want, but it's fine. I'd sell it. You'll just be upsetting customers if they want it and can't have it." One more time I look him in the eye, raise my voice so the customer about 5 feet away can hear me, and I say "**I'm not selling moldy chili.**" He just says "whatever" and storms off. I immediately texted my store manager and district manager. No answer. Next morning I e-mail corporate. No answer. Couple days later I e-mailed Department of Labor and the Health Department. Got a "thanks for the head's-up" e-mail. Nothing ever happened to the guy. As far as I know (still friends with many of the employees there and the rumor mill is worse than middle school) no one (corporate, DoL, HD) even contacted the store or management.

40 Company Secrets These People Have Revealed Since They Don't Work There Anymore Or Just Don't Care I am a manager at a fast food restaurant (I won't name it because I unfortunately still need my job there) and my regional manager told me I'd 'volunteer' hours or get fired. I asked about certain laws against this and was told that he could fire me for something else, the cameras at said store don't even work. I also had to close the store down by myself, also off the clock, because "managers should fend for themselves." Upon being hired as a manager, I was told I could move up in the company indefinitely. They then fired my boss for her getting paid too much. That's the legitimate reason they used. I'm not even sure how that works. The whole company is corrupt and I wish I could find a new job. Seriously, I was nearly fired because my till was short about 200 dollars. When they checked the cameras (they worked then, this was years ago) they saw it was the district manager's daughter. The matter was dropped and she still works there. I hate my job. None of this is really a 'deep dark secret' but I felt the need to vent.

There is no charge for consultation. You need to speak to an attorney, who will look into a CLASS ACTION SUIT. You will have the protected status of a whistle-blower (they can't fire you then.) You don't have to live like this. Go to AVVO.com and email a few Employment attorneys with 9.0+ ratings exactly what you've written here. You will get a response.

A little over 30 years ago a friend of mine was working for fast food restaurant that started with an M. He was accused of stealing a fair amount of money from the till, he was going to lose his job and police were going to be involved. Unfortunately, he had been troubled as a kid and young man and between this and other pressures he committed suicide. It came out after the fact that the money had not in fact been stolen but someone else had misplaced it. So, that false accusation basically cost him his life. No repercussions of course.

Document EVERYTHING. Send email strings to your personal email. I have seen multiple franchises held accountable by paper trails. I even did it once after a company I left was harassing me - if they had left me alone, it would have cost nothing. They lied, but I had emails to prove it, so instead it cost them tens of thousands of dollars.

Hey 👋, this is why at will employment states are ducked up. Your manager doesn't like your tone of voice once they can fire you. You catch him stealing from the company if you have no proof you get fired. Though this also says that unless I signed a contract that says i have to work for you for a set period of time I can just stop working the next second and walk out without the company being able to do anything besides put me on a no hire list for that company itself.

I'm so sorry. Start a Cleaning business on the side, when you get enough regulars, quit that horrible job. By being your own boss, you can keep more money in your pocket. Start by posting your services through a church or square market in middle class neighborhoods - then after some good references, move on to well off but not extremely rich neighborhoods. Keep going until you can breath and have 6 - 12 months in rent in the bank. Then think about your next move if you don't like Cleaning. This is one of the fastest ways I've seen women land on their feet. My mom did it and I am forever grateful for everything she taught me.

Not only that, but the factories that make the mixes only make 2-4 of the ingredients, and other factories will make the rest. They will then be shipped together, and there's a ton of protocols the employees have to go through, it's a bunch of bs tbh.

Hopefully y'all realize it is just a dog and pony show. Their spices are not that amazing. But if you make a huge deal out of it like they are you can help sell product. Plus there have been people alleging for years they do know and while I can't confirm, I do note the knock off recipes seem to get good reviews. == "KFC’s 11 herbs and spices are salt, thyme, basil, oregano, celery salt, black pepper, dried mustard, paprika, garlic salt, ground ginger, and white pepper. Paprika is used the most liberally, followed by garlic salt and white pepper, then celery salt. But each ingredient plays an important role."

I am a teacher. I witnessed a navy vet teacher push, shove, and verbally abuse kids. She even harrassed me and would tell the kids that we shared that I was a bad teacher. I reported her, but she STILL WORKS THERE. I used to work with kids with emotional/trauma issues. I now work in an Autism program. THE ONLY REASON that this vile woman is still working is because our school is in a poor area and she got caught abusing kids with documented behavior issues. F**k her. F**k the system. Literally a deciding factor to me leaving the state of Florida was this. Florida is so backwards, Destantis is so vile. Working in ESE, you will get hit, bit, scratched until you can find a behavior system that works for that kid and until you develop a relationship with them. But we have legal ways to safely restrain a child until we get through that learning curve together. This woman is vile. The education system in FL is despicable.

Yea this is total BS!! I am a US Marine and I was discharged 13 years ago now and I know a lot has changed since then but I know for a fact that Marines especially are held to a higher standard than other branches when it comes to appearance. Our uniforms had to be on point at all times and we had weight/body standards to abide by and unless you had a waiver of some sort you were only given so many chances to get down to the "ideal" weight they think you should be for your height. If you continue to exceed their weight standards you can be sent to the brig and kicked out of the Corps. We are definitely not lazy either. This guy is probably just mad because he wanted to join and couldn't or did join but didn't make it .. I understand being pi*sed off but don't spread lies man.

I work for an insurance compnay....yes yes they are all evil. We are taught/told that if a potential client lives in a not so nice area we are to make it as difficult as possible to give them our product (as we cannot flat out say no becasue i live in Canada and its the law). So if they live in low income housing we would ask for an impossible amount of paper work add surcharges and/or make them wait up to a month for us to "process the paper work".

This... doesn't surprise me at all. Just had a bout at the pharmacy today regarding my employment insurance refusing to cover, luckily, inexpensive medication because I'm somehow required to apply for some sort of coverage with my provincial health insurance. I've not filled out an application form for my provincial health card since I was 18. The pharmacist said it's not a new change to the provincial health, the application they gave me was for Pharmacare, which is coverage for those low income and don't have employment insurance. I left feeling insulted by the pharmacy and scammed by my insurance that I pay premiums on biweekly from my paycheque. I believe I pay around $55 every 2 weeks and they didn't want to cover my $16 Ventolin. This post just validates my suspicions. But I don't live in a "bad neighbourhood" nor in low income housing.

    I'm sorry you were treated so poorly. No one deserves that degrading behavior. As an aside: That's such a low premium compared to America. Mom's Medicaid had $1,000 spend down *every month. She had to pay first $1,000 before it kicked in, and then limited coverage before she was billed again. Still had copay on her cancer prescriptions. After her death, the state came after my land for reimbursement. MY land, because she lived here. Had to get lawyer to prevent those #%^! politicians from confiscating my property. {Parents had great coverage prior to losing estate in Ponzi scheme, which left them relying on social security.}

After a two day winter power outage, my spa bathtub cracked from the temperature change. My agent told me home owner's insurance did not cover "Acts of God". If I had dropped a hammer into the tub and cracked it, the insurance would have paid. Does that mean any weather related damage to my house would never have been covered?

It means you need to find a new agent. That’s not at all what that phrase refers to. An Act of God defense would be like if someone was in your home when it got hit by lightning, you wouldn’t be responsible for the injuries caused by that lightning. It’s actually a defense to liabilities claims primarily. However, there’s plenty of other reasons your claim could be denied. But the phrase Act of God just doesn’t apply here.

I believe the term is called "red lining" here in the USA. Insurance companies here are very sensitive to this, so much so, we won't even use red on a map. Any suggestion of an insurance company doing so will be a feast for an outside lawyer here in the USA. High crime areas are still allowed to get insurance, but, its severely expensive and often gets put into some sort of high risk pool.

40 Company Secrets These People Have Revealed Since They Don't Work There Anymore Or Just Don't Care My last job trained us how to deal with "people of lower socioeconomic status." It was a class on how to understand poor people and why they're different from other people. There were charts and videos all explaining how not to think of them as irresponsible, but to understand that their uneducated selves have a different, poor culture. It was one of those situations that leave you looking around the room wondering if anyone else sees how absurd the situation is.

This is not necessarily a bad thing. Far far too many people assume that people who are poor are lazy, and it creates an incredible bias against those who are struggling. If the past 10 years have shown us nothing else, it’s that you can work non-stop and 3-4 jobs and still be homeless.

The difference in experiences between the "people of lower socioeconomic status" and the wealthy do create different psychologies/cultures whatever you want to call it, especially when compounded by intergenerational poverty. Consider the different experiences of someone wealthy who has been handed a managerial position and someone working at the lowest level of the company. One has never had the financial worries and struggles, has always been well treated, feels deserving and confident. The other struggling day to day usually not well treated by those above but also expected to "respect" (suck up) to them whilst being told they are not worth their pay and easily replaceable. They feel little self confidence or self esteem. It is a self-perpetuating cycle of privilege that probably does lead to some people thinking "the poor" have a different culture.

Okay, I’ll risk the downvotes. No clue what job this is in reference to for starters. I was a law enforcement Chief in a prior life and I had my officers attend a Bridges out of Poverty training with Dr. Ruby Payne. The ones who hated it were exactly the people I was concerned about in my department. Those of us who are fortunate enough to have never truly experienced poverty really don’t understand poverty or what it’s like to actually be poor. It’s so easy to judge. So if the intent of this employer was to try and foster empathy and understanding with some evidence based, research backed training, then perhaps we shouldn’t be so quick to judge.

I would be considered lower middle class, getting paid (not much) by the hour, no college degree. I volunteered to mentor a young person through AMACHI, an organization caring for children who have one or more parents in jail. Talk about culture shock! The young girl I came along side didn't have much of a chance. Her circumstances were horrific. No clue who her father was, mother in jail. Being raised by her grandmother who was illiterate. Lived in a house that was pretty much falling down. All this, was normal to her. It tore me up to see how they lived. Truly a different world than I had ever experienced. Easy to see how generational poverty is perpetuated.

Lack of money effects the way you behave and see the world just like having money effects you in the same way. And it looks like this employer is saying, “Look, we have a lot of lower SES customers and here is how you can relate to them as people.” There is nothing wrong with that.

Despite the greenwashed, worker-friendly image, Trader Joe's routinely uses sweatshop labor and partners in companies that use human trafficked labor. On top of that, they refuse to sign the Coalition of Immokalee Workers petition to bring tomato picking prices up to a (relatively) living wage....a move that companies like Burger King and Taco Bell were perfectly willing to make. They also use an opaque and questionable "self-audit" system to verify their products are organic, non-GMO, gluten free etc...a move that bucks an industry-wide trend towards using third parties to verify.

The regulations for calling your product organic are barely there, however literally every plant is genetically modified. Just because you object to the "gene editing" part of gmos doesn't change the fact that selective breeding is also genetic modification, just a less precise form of it.

Idk, I work on a farm that has organic acreage and the trading and certification we have to do is pretty rigorous. We also have crop lots rejected every year for taxes amounts of banned chemicals because our neighbor sprayed them. As long as the certification is through USDA, Oregon Tilth, or another good certification standard is used it should be good. If trader joes has its own though that'd be like the fox watching the chickens.

Thank you for the information. Its not what I would have expected from that company, naively I guess. So I'll look into it further and probably not give them my money. I appreciate these posts, but the companies need to be named. They will only change if their profits are impacted, and that will not happen unless we are aware of what is going on and can choose to not financially support them. Its the only way these s****y actions and policies will change. Post anonymously, throw away accounts, but get the information out there.

No big surprise here. As TJ is obviously connected to the ALDI empire (Germany supermarket chain). ALDI also pays good and have good food quality but they prefer to make their own laws and standards wherever they can (or won't get caught in case it is not legal).

The agency I work for provides services for people with developmental disabilities. They have a positive, uplifting mission statement, and market the agency as such. However, in reality, all they really care about is milking Medicaid for every penny, and expanding the agency in order to create an empire (instead of improving what they have; quantity, not quality). It's disgusting.

Local agency, same. I had a friend who took care of two special needs women that her parents had taken care of before. The women had been with her family for over 20 years! The agency wanted her to do something to make her home into another category which made more money for the agency, too. They took the women away when my friend would not comply. Mind you, the women were safe, loved, liked their home, and in compliance. Not something like a "group home" which made more money. Also, when this all came about, it seemed like they were skimming money, the agency, to be clear.

I'm currently a Special Education teacher, but I'm not fond of the job -- lots of red tape, paperwork, and general education nonsense. My sister suggested I work for a nonprofit that helps people with disabilities -- I looked at her and laughed. I'd be dealing with the same problems but for less money. Our systems are broken.

40 Company Secrets These People Have Revealed Since They Don't Work There Anymore Or Just Don't Care Worked at a start-up web design firm a few years back. We were making a browser-based city builder game, and my job was creating little Flash mini-games that could be played in it for resources bonuses and such. There was one game that kinda evolved, got out of hand, and we fleshed it out into a full-fledged standalone game as a means to get attention for our project by submitting this game to Newgrounds and such. Kind of a "hey, if you like this game, I make many more like it for this browser-based city simulator!" Totally legit operation too. Until I found out what the company President was doing. He was going to the other games featured on the sites I submitted to, creating accounts, and dumping on other games. He was giving one-star reviews and 0/10's and thumbsdowns, all shamelessly, all w***y nilly, and dropping the same copy/paste comment to them all. "This game sucks, you should play this game instead:" and he'd link to my game. I'm glad that company dissolved and that fat opportunistic f**k isn't in charge of anything anymore.

I agree with warming food in a microwave and I agree there are several safe ways to use them at a restaurant. Yet I think it should not take the place of grilling hamburgers which it has in some fast food places which can lead to the meat not getting hot enough. I have found that out at some fast food places.

My only guess is that perhaps some people believe that the radiation used in microwaves is the same kind as used at nuclear plants? (I admit I believed that initially, as. Didn’t know there was more than one kind of radiation. I was corrected and embarrassed like crazy for it.) If iI’m wrong, if it’s just that it’s a “lazy” way to heat food, I fail to see the problem.

Apple has an in house security firm which essentially works the same way as a private security firm for diplomats. Essentially, they are a part of Apple but exist on their own. I don't know if they still do this but here is how it used to go down... When Apple believed a leak had come from a department they would send in this security firm. The guy in charge would go to the manager and tell him to step out and calmly tell everyone to activate their screen savers and place their phones on their desks. No one is allowed to talk during this time. The security guys will then go around and download the entire contents of every workstation there onto laptops and then do the same thing with their phones. The reason they can do this is because they give free Apple products to their employees to use but since they not only made the product but "gave" it to them they have the right to invade their employees personal data. After that they wrap up and walk out without a word and everyone is left to ponder if someone will be getting fired, whether that's due to being the source of the leak or the security guys finding something else. Moral of the story: Be careful what gifts you accept from an employer.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Use Android for your personal stuff if hired by Apple. Waaay before you younglings, here -- I don't know why I always had the uncanny ability to see ahead and prevent s**t like this from happening to me. At work, we made friendships; but some things were kept strictly separate; I'd never let my left hand know what my right hand is doing. THIS IS SO SAD. Our rights as human beings are being co-opted to serve Corporations who are giving themselves human rights and act as overlords due to the sheer amount of profit they produce at the EXPENSE of... Human Beings. It's within each of us to decide that this ends with our generation.

All companies have the right to access the data on any company owned or supplied hardware. That includes the phone they gave you. Everyone knows this. Apple seems a bit more draconian than most in getting the data but it’s perfectly legal. Only a fool would use their company supplied phone to leak.

Oh the VA in general is a POS. My mom’s ex was disabled veteran and trying to get medications/treatments to help, but he couldn’t talk on the phone well due to anxiety. My mom did most of it for him when he couldn’t, and they made it hell for her. I hate to think of veterans who don’t have an advocate and don’t get the help they need/deserve.

I've used White River Junction, VT and Portland, Oregon VA hospitals. Vermont and Oregon have 1 hospital for the whole state. Maybe that's why they rate high. Satellite offices all over the state for dr. visits. There are millions of veterans and the government wants to cut 25% funding to veterans. But hey, don't worry. 20+ veterans commit suicide per day.

I'm a retired VA nurse. Where I worked was so corrupt & downright evil. The folks in DC rarely hear about anything happening there so they don't dig any deeper than what is on the surface. We've had all kinds of incidents end up in the news here but the OIG reports never list them. Nobody is informing DC. They did have a shake up a number of years ago when an independent inspection group came in & found all kinds of issues. Heads actually rolled. When they critiqued the nursing home's many issues, admin told them a new building was planned. The inspectors asked to see the blue prints. There were dozens of issues with the planned construction that were unsafe & not up to code. It cost the VA over $10,000 to have the plans drawn up. And it was done by a family member of someone who worked there. The blue prints had to be thrown away. By the way, that independent inspection group was no longer invited back.

My boyfriend, a Veteran, passed away from cancer. The VA down here kept putting off a colonoscopy and insinuated he was pill hunting. When his exwife and I finally convinced him to go to a civilian doctor, he had advanced colo rectal cancer that, if the VA had actually done something, may have been cured. Both the ex wife and I believe the VA ultimately killed him. The Alabama VA should be nuked from space.

Don't understand how revenues improve if you sell the same thing by computer - unless you charge more- plus the free shipping lands the company with an additional expense so surely profit reduced. Does not make sense. And why the arbitrary rule of when there is one left. If it was better money you could say the same thing when 2 are left?

This has been their byline in my town for decades. :-( During the height of the pandemic, the store that told this ridiculous line closed due to poor customer service with online pickup at store or at the curb. That Best Buy could not deliver.

I'm not even a little bit surprised. It's known there are non-profits, particularly in the US, who operate solely to provide cushy high-paid jobs to people, while doing nothing useful for the disability communities they say they work for. Worse, some perpetrate ignorant and harmful views. Some actually get called hate groups as they so actively work against the communities they claim they serve and attempt to silence advocates when statements become threatening to their financial viability and status.

They talked to the people who caused the issues. They lied even about an assault that went to court. EEOC never cross checked it. EEOC sides with management over 90% of the time in discrimination cases.

I know this is 100% BS because my sister worked in the industry on the chemical side. It is all animal testing, even the ones that say they werent or are cruelty free were all tested on animals. There is almost no testing in china period because of the reliability of results. After animal testing, the chemists and engineers at her company, actually would use it on themselves to double check, but most companies pay people in trials, after animal testing

All beauty imports into China are tested on animals; it's a regulation there. While the phrase "cruelty free" isn't enforceable, there are true certifications, primarily Leaping Bunny. Leaping Bunny certified products are not tested on animals, nor are the third party ingredients the manufacturer acquires.

This post it written like it's marketed as something else - it isn't. Many times when unauthorized substitutions happen in like this it has more to do with managers or workers not taking the extra steps to clarify. They don't want to constantly say "sorry out of decaf." Its mostly laziness and not having respect for the customers. It reminds me of when my.mother ordered a milkshake. Turned out they gave her a cup 1/3 full of milkshake and the rest was just whipped cream. They had ran out of vanilla ice cream. Kids not caring nor wanting to take the extra steps to correct the problem. The manager not managing.

I've heard lots of people long for the days when AT&T was a monopoly. Sure, the phones were unbreakable, but a 30 minute call to Gramma cost as much as a Southwest Airlines ticket to visit her. But when studying IT, I could almost appreciate a monopoly: the amount of sheer innovation AT&T produced AND PUBLISHED FOR FREE when they didn't worry about competitors is astonishing. Folks, AT&T invented the microprocessor, the microchip, the photovoltaic cell (the ONLY economic feasible source of solar energy), UNIX, C programming language, data compression, quartz clocks, television transmission, radio astronomy, CCD solid-state imaging... it's amazing!!!

It's probably an open secret, but the claw machines where you try to win plush toys at arcades have a payout percentage that is set by the staff. The payout is calculated based on the unit price of the toy and the cost per game on the machine. No matter how much claw-poising skill you bring, you're not going to win until you've spent a few times the price of the toy playing the game (not you specifically, but whoever else has played before you as well).

I was an overhead crane operator, so good at machines. Also went to school to work on machines. It's mostly an unfair claw grip, based on time spent to hit the grab button.

40 Company Secrets These People Have Revealed Since They Don't Work There Anymore Or Just Don't Care My company does retail audits. Stores essentially pay us money to tell them they're being stolen from. It's likely that the majority of us do what we can to ensure it looks like they are being stolen from. Tl;dr: We lie to liars to make sure we can all still lie to each other for money.

In retail loss of product is called "shrinkage". For most companies about 5% is internal (employee theft). 25% is external (shoplifting). 10% is receiving or other inventory errors. 60% comes from the warehouse. Guess which one Loss Prevention puts 99% of its effort into? That's right. The 5% employee theft. We call LP the "Lost Intentions" department because they forgot what their job was supposed to be.

Stores build theft in to their budget. It's part of "shrink". They already know they are being stolen from. Why would they pay someone to tell them that?

This post is insane. External audits are *required* for any publicly traded retail business. It's the gd law. And the store doesn't give the auditors a heads up on what's *supposed* to be there. The company comes in and generates a list of merchandise found. It's not some big dang conspiracy.

In the 90s i worked at a wholesale club. One day, thirteen front line workers were marched out in cuffs in the middle of the day. Another time, the whole tire installing crew was fired for keeping used tires and skimming balancing fees. These are just the examples that come to mind 30 years later

Probably an unpopular opinion but I see zero problems with someone stealing shít from mega corporations. NEVER steal from locally owned, mom & pop sorta businesses. But the mega corporations are professional thieves and customers should play by the same rules that the company does, "if it's not nailed down, steal it".

I’m just curious: you’re okay with this? You can look in the mirror and feel proud that you do this? Do you sleep at night? Did your ardents teach you this, or did you come to this on your own? I once walked out of a store with a small, thin synthetic scarf stuck to the back of my sweater via static electricity. I couldn’t get back into the store fast enough to return it! Would you have been happy in that situation that you “stuck it” to the “mega-corporation”? You feel entitled to take what you want? I’m genuinely trying to understand this mindset, as it’s entirely foreign to me. Would you be okay with your employees taking whatever “isn’t nailed down”?

Sadly from my retail experience a lot of theft is done by staff (but hey pay them better and give them more than a 5% shop staff discount (spoiler alert - pen pusher and executive staff from the parent company get a 10% discount... WTF?). reality most of our stock loss was from poor handling and storage, we had a large covered area (roof, no walls) in the yard for storing all sorts of stuff including electrical goods, a certain amount are unboxed and ready for night fill to restock shelves and floor space (enough for about 2 weeks of sales) anytime it rains with just more than a gentle zephyr of a wind we would lose thousands of dollars of stock to water damage .... not sure how long it would take to put a actual small warehouse/walled structure in there but you'd think they would willingly pay a short term cost to stop a larger long term lose, but n, apparently cheaper to get the tax reduction from shrinkage than build a 50 metre by 20 meter by 3 meter shed/mini warehouse

It's basically all the parts of the chicken you would normally throw away ground up, mixed with ground water chestnuts and rehydrated mushrooms. Tossed in a wok with what we call dark sauce (tons if salt and sugar). We basically turned waste into our most popular app.

Our son was critically ill and had to be transferred 1 mile from the University hospital to Children’s hospital for emergency surgery. Insurance didn’t cover the ambulance ride saying it wasn’t medically necessary, even though our son died later that day. We appealed it but it was still denied. They charged us $1,000.

I've driven a rescue vehicle. In my area, an ambulance is a large van with some fancy equipment operated by a private company. If you can drive a large van, you don't need special training. But by law you do need special training for the lights and siren. A rescue vehicle is much bigger and much harder to drive, and in my area they are all owned by the government, private companies aren't used for those. I don't know if the words are used the same everywhere, but if they are then this isn't US because you need an EVOC course to drive anything with lights and a siren in the US.

I work at a large scale events venue in Australia. We host conferences and corporate banquets among other events. Often with the larger banquets the clients will have a sponsor for whatever they are drinking like a beer or wine producer, so they freight the supplier's drinks to our venue (in bulk, like pallets full) and we serve it. There is no tracking procedures for the booze apart from how much we received in freight and how much goes back to the supplier. After these functions the stock control guys skim off dozens of cartons of booze to be stowed away in a storeroom. Considering this happens on a fortnightly basis on average, they have pallets full by the end of the year then they get rid of it all (they take it home or use it for our staff xmas party). I've often thought if they tried to fire me I'd just email all the alcohol producers in Aus and tell them we've been flogging their stock for years. Considering the taxes they are stung by it would be a pretty big deal (cheap carton of beer in Aus is $40 retail). TL,DR: Events venue steals beer and wine off suppliers by the pallet load then either drinks it or uses it for staff parties. Woo!

I used to work in a fancy hotel. You wouldn't believe the stuff we got at department parties/activities. My department went boating one time and we were served lobster and champagne that the head chef "borrowed" from the storerooms. Although I heard a few people got fired for doing that after I left for another job. Lots of crazy sh!t goes on behind the scenes in hotels. I could write a book!

The alcohol companies probably won't care too much as people are still drinking their products, which is advertising and could create more sales for them. They get more profit per unit from retail sales than wholesale.

The people who should be upset are the people having the event/banquet. They're the ones paying for the booze that's being skimmed. Why would they care who drinks it? They're still getting paid. edit: Sorry just to correct, maybe the people having the event are getting the booze as part of some sponsorship deal so they're not paying in cash, but they're paying one way or another.

I used to know a bar owner and that beer is worth so little to the beer company that they won't care. About 20 years ago, a bottle of domestic beer cost 17 cents to the bar and was sold for $5. So a pallet of that is still pretty cheap, transport back may be more expensive than leaving it. Imports were more, but the big names like Heineken were still pretty cheap. Small brewers were a lot more, but might be nearly the same price because that's all people would pay. That's why bars promote big domestic breweries. It's the biggest profit!

I hope OP understands that sponsors are writing off the booze in their taxes or charging the customer in an indirect fashion, and don't give a s**t about how much the staff are hiding away. Now, if you told the people who are paying for the use of the venue and the stuff they consume, then THEY might get a little upset.

Well, it's not like you have many alternatives. Those big companies made pretty sure that you're dependent on them and there's no legal way around them in a bigger scale. Just try to avoid Nestlé and good luck with that. They own at least shares from almost everything. And no, it's not possible to go completely off grid for everyone. A few parties here and there can pull it, but the wide mass still can't and won't ever be able to for those companies seizing land left and right too

Exactly! I do that EVERY TIME! Two seat cover to wipe down the seat, and one for my touchie. I work in a medical clinic and sometimes have to use the bathroom closest to the lab. Which means they are used for urine and stool sample collections. It can get ugly. Some ppl have no shame in their test collecting leaving the evidence on the seat, bowl, floor and trash.

Most public restrooms don't have toilet lids, if that's what you're talking about.

I keep alcohol gel in my bag at all times. Comes in handy when having to clean a seat before I sit on it. Years ago I could hoover over it instead of sitting but due to disability I cannot manage it anymore. Why people leave oee all over seats ir worse is totally beyond me..disgusting

The paper ones are awful. I bought a bunch of plastic ones at some point, the address individually wrapped, and they go around the seat so they cover will. Plastic won't let anything through like paper. They were very cheap and they work great. The writing on the package is in Chinese. First time I got them on eBay, last time I found them on Amazon. But there are several available and I had to return one because when I tried it, it wasn't big enough to fit right. Do yourself a favor and try one at home the day they arrive so you know what you got.

At the movies? The store? The park? An office? Flush before, flush after. I would literally wipe the seat with toilet paper and soap BEFORE I used it; line it, flush the liner paper, leaving the seat clean for the next person. I often told myself that I'm very lucky because of good deeds that I do in secret that very few people ever do.

40 Company Secrets These People Have Revealed Since They Don't Work There Anymore Or Just Don't Care I think if people actually saw Taco Bell squirt that meat out of a hose onto that tortilla, they'd have a lot smaller appetite (for like five minutes, then they'd eat it anyways). Edit: I'd like to point out that both of these instances happened quite some time ago. I saw the meat hose in person when I lived in Brookhaven Mississippi, which was about ten years ago, and the broken one happened maybe a few months prior visiting my relatives in the Jackson, MS area. Several people have worked there etc. and they didn't use a hose. Maybe they changed this practice since then? Not sure, I'll have to check next time I'm in those areas. TL;DR Taco Bell uses a nasty meat hose.

There's no meat hose. Maybe for your Taco Bell specifically, but this is not a thing in most of them. You scoop them into the tacos with this measuring thing, that's it. I guess the cleanliness of Taco Bell varies

It's only a matter of time before some American puts liquid meat into an aerosol can like we did to cheese.

Worked at TB for a bit back in the mid 90s. Worst I can say about their food is that it's heavily processed but I don't think that's a surprise to anyone. And there was no meat hose. The taco meat came in a bag. The bag was put (closed) into a hot table to get it up to temp and have it ready to go for the rush.

TACO BELL is to Mexican Food what PF CHANGS is to Chinese. That's why there aren't any TACO BELLS in (ME-JICO) Mexico. Authentic cuisine is usually so healthy and delicious -- but that's what makes it so dangerous, yet easy to imitate.

There is no such thing as freedom of speech on ANY private property. This has been a legal fact forever.

Can you cite the relevant statute ? I am just wondering how a lower court could overrule the US constitution? I thought in constitutional democracies the constitution trumped anything? Certainly in South Africa, where I live, that's the case. Our freedom of speech rules exclude racism, sexism, homophobia, etc., ie hate speech or incitement to violence, but otherwise no, you should be able to say whatever due to the constitution trumping all other derivative laws.

Granted I'm not a con law attorney, but what I do recall from school is that the constitution (US) protection of freedom of speech is only to protect you from oppression but the government, not private businesses or persons. So private corporations can fire you, unless you have a contract, for anything, including what you say (unless there is a specific statute). (There are a lot of "unless" in the law). The only real check on companies behaving badly is the market - which is way I have posted a few times on this thread, name the company - like this person did. Agree with the companies' actions/policies and shop there; don't agree, and don't. The more people angered, the less profit the company makes. Name and shame please.

Yeah. Other laws may come into play, such as those relating to talking about wages and union activities, but freedom of speech is a constitutional protection from the *government* squashing your speech rights.

Same for a lot of big companies, especially if you like to post on social media. If you have photos of you in uniform or mention where you work on your profile you need to be careful about what you post. A lot of contracts will have a clause about not bringing the company into disrepute, so if you post something which is against their core values good luck keeping your job.

Friend of mine told me that coworkers of his at Burger King used to p**s on the grill when they cleaned it because the manager chewed them out for not cleaning the grill good enough. He said they did it about a dozen times before he threatened to tell the manager if they didn't stop it. Burger King in West Plains, Missouri

I used to work in an elementary school where the kids always pee'd on the radiator in the boys' bathroom! OMG it always smelled and I don't know how this didn't reek! No matter how much the janitor cleaned that, he couldn't get the smell out! And for some reason, it was a continuous problem- I worked there about 10 years, so the "culprits" should have moved on, but they must have taught each other to do this! You could smell it from the hall!

That could either be a felony, or misdemeanor in some parts. Just like you can't spit in anyone's food and get away with it, if it's seen, or known. I think people who do so are cowards, unless they're in a position of extreme subjugation.
