I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I cannot just decide to not be anxious about stuff. I take medication because I can’t stop. Telling me to just “not worry about it” and “mind over matter” is not going to work. This is a medical issue I am actively being treated for. If I could just choose to stop I would. Telling me “it’s all in your head” is also useless; of course it’s in my head. It’s a brain problem. Where else is it going to be.

We are opposite personalities in many ways. I am an early riser, and very punctual. He is perpetually late to everything and rarely in bed before 3 a.m. If we go anywhere, he will always find something he HAS to do right before we leave, and about 50% of the time, it's taking our dogs on one more walk. Anyway, it's 9 p.m. and we are on our way out the door to visit his brothers when he says we need to walk the dogs first. It was late and cold, and I was already tired, but I love our dogs, so it's hard to say no. As we walked in front of the church near our house, he handed me the second leash. I assumed he had to tie his shoe, so I kept walking. A moment later, when he hadn't caught up, I turned back, and he was down on one knee with a ring, and written in sidewalk chalk was "[My name], will you marry me?" It was simple and perfect for so many reasons that would take pages to gush over, but I loved it and him. We had a pandemic elopement in 2020!
