Unfortunately they didn't realize that the flight was about £600, so you got a £600 value for spending £100. Tons of people took advantage of the deal. They basically figured we can get two tickets to the US for £100, and also get a free vacuum cleaner. I don't think so. There's a lot of me, mine statements, and I have this and she has that comments. I think it's totally fine to keep your finances separate (in fact I recommend it), it's another thing to state that 70% of our living space is mine. NO, 100% of your living space is shared. If you don't want her parents there because of how they treat you, that's fine, and you can have that conversation with your partner and the rest. But talking about what is yours and hers is a recipe for future resentments.

FWIW, the repairs are quite simple, seeing as this is just drywall. As the slits are small enough you can probably get away of just buying a tub of something like one strike filler and just stuffing it in with your fingers (don't really need a putty knife). Worst case you'll have to cut that part of the wall out, and you can probably get some scrap drywall from the hardware store to replace it. Then you'll likely want joint compound. Places like Lowe's and Home Depot can digitally match the paint if you bring in a scrap, and you can just get a one quart tub for $30. Maybe the whole repair will be less than $50. Something I'd definitely make them pay for, but it shouldn't take longer than an hour.

When I was still married, the rule was if I cooked, I did the dishes, and if she cooked, I did the dishes. Since I cooked 90% of the meals I got to the dishes 100% of the time. If I went on a business trip I would come home to every dish and pot stacked in and around the sink, and the trash cans overflowing with paper plates. Oh, I also took out the trash and did the laundry and the cleaning (except her bathroom because it was too gross I just couldn't). But I was routinely told that in spite of being the only one employed I wasn't good for anything. Being divorced is the best thing to happen to me

I have severe depression, but my house is always clean, even when I'm at the worst of it. Part I think is being a single parent, I don't really have the luxury (pardon me but I couldn't come up with a better word) to let things go. It's a worthy lesson of just how much we HAVE cleaned up the environment in Europe and North America. The bad news is that we've done so in large part by simply offshoring our manufacturing base rather than using cleaner manufacturing. It's cheaper to have China manufacture than to manufacture more cleanly.
