I'll be honest I don't use Facebook, but it is/was a fundamental tool for democracy the world over. The problem is that Facebook is unfairly curating content and its leaving those who do not goosestep to the corporate propaganda either banned, blocked, or in my case, pigeonholed into radical groups. I enjoy a quack or two, but my entire feed had more quacks than a duck farm. I noped out of Facebook 4 years ago and haven't looked back.

I think what is being missed here is that most Americans will easily have their normal dietary needs met by most of the products sold in supermarkets. These are just special sections that cater for a few specific items that people probably miss. In the same way that someone from the UK might miss Marmite in the US (no idea if that is sold there or not). My BIL is a store manager and he said it's frequently based on requests. If enough demand is made then they stock them (his store is near a US army base in the UK) Anyone with an ounce of sense will realise that it's not that this is all that American's eat but that some of these are uniquely American or brands that American's really like. Also, the Baking Soda thing - we call it Bicarb so pity the American trying to find Baking Soda if they have no idea.

I look forward to your original hot takes on American healthcare and politics. B. The "European" section at my local grocer is chock full of cookies, candies, and sodas. C. EAD. It's healthy. ;) D. I look forward to being downvoted for telling the truth. ...we do not have easy access to weapons. You need to be a legal adult to get a weapon and we have a "wait period" thing where people can't get weapons right away once they buy them that way they can't go out and kill people. The only way we would be able to get weapons is if our parents gave them to us or we took them from our parents and in most households, guns are hidden away, on safety, and not loaded.

We don't eat that much sugar. Yes, we do have a weird obsession with fake cheese. But if you want real American food, it's going to be BBQ or sandwiches. And not the British version (buttered cucumbers on bread). American sandwiches put the whole meal inside the bread- meat, salad, cheese, sauce.

There could be a story behind this. There was a guy who was stopped on the highway by a police officer. The guy said that the police officer was racist and saw him in his nice car and thought he stole it. It turns out the guy as a habit, saves 2000 or 20000 a year, just to pay for his speeding tickets. I'm not saying that it couldn't have been for no good reason, but people won't want to tell you if they stole 80 wallets beforehand. (I'm not saying they did, I'm just giving an example.)

Not true actually. There was a white man with a gun not in the school, but near the school and the SWAT team was called immediately. The guy was delivering money or something to the school so he had a gun to defend the money.

I wouldn’t call this “quintessential American food.” I’d call it a handful of products from stores that are generally the size of a half of a city block. “Quintessential American” would be a produce department that takes up a quarter of the floor space in a store with a plentiful selection from growing regions all over the Western Hemisphere. Quintessential American would be a meat department with every animal and cut of meat that one could want. Quintessential American would be store shelves packed full of goods with unparalleled selection and variety. Quintessential American is pure abundance. But if looking at a junk food section labeled “American” fits within your narrow world view, vaya con Dios.

News flash: U.S. grocery stores have sections dedicated to other countries as well. Typically it’s just the name brand garbage that comes from those countries and is about as representative of those countries as these images are of the U.S.. I would say one difference is we’re smart enough not to believe that’s what other countries eat as part of their regular diet.
