I Created A Diary In The Form Of Hybrid Characters And Linear Colorful Organisms (18 Pics)

In fact, it is a very important building from brutalism architecture era located in Belgrade (Serbia) and built between 1936 and 1940 named BIGZ. It was the national printing office, there has always been greenery around. BIGZ was abandoned in the 1990s, and in recent years, and a large number of young artists, designers, architects, musicians and DJs have moved into the building. Since that time the BIGZ building has been particularly important for the new Serbian scene. Hundreds of bands and music producers worked there, there have been many artists' workshops as well. In 2021, BIGZ was bought by a company that plans to turn it into business offices and all the artists were thrown out. This illustration is a tribute to this building and to the artists who contributed to the underground culture between 1990 and 2021.

Thank you for this comment I really appreciate the time you took on my works :) I use a lot of symbols indeed, and it is true that on this series concretely there are a lot of medical symbols, which remain at least quite complex, like this whole unfortunate situation. I spent a lot of time with myself (like everyone else) and observed things around me. Beyond the physical pain, there are also the psychological effects that marked this period, and this can also affect the body. You will notice that the eyes are often hidden or "replaced" which matches the title of this series "during the void": we couldn't see where we were going and it was endless. As for the presence of nature, it is on some drawings soothing, on others, I had the impression of returning to the beginning of evolution, with an apocalyptic and dark atmosphere - hence the very hybrid side of my creatures. There were a lot of questionings and uncertainties, difficult to explain in words. So I drew it all :)

There is a latin proverb “Homo homini lupus “ that means “"A man is a wolf to another man" Since my mother tongue is French, I had therefore heard the translation “l’homme est un loup pour l’homme” that I took to change it to: “ l’homme est un fou pour l’homme” - "A man is a fool to another man". I changed “loup” (wolf) for the “fou” (fool).

I know very little about art and I wish I understood all of the symbolism being used here. Many of them strike me as being very medical, which makes sense because it's pandemic art. Ground glass on the x-ray and gasping for air, the fog of toxic breath from someone blind to it, fingers in the jugular like they would be fit someone who's really sick in the hospital. I also see a lot of spiritual imagery but that's not a language I know. Overall very compelling and beautiful works that make me want to think about them and what they mean.
